  • Watch the Norden Mfg Hay Accumulator work. Using no hydraulics or electronics, the Norden Accumulator automatically arranges bales into groups that can then be picked up with grabbers mounted on loaders and stacked on wagons or in the barn.
Norden Mfg was previously Kuhns Mfg but the company renamed itself in 2022 to reduce confusion with another farm equipment company.

I work at kuhns mfg and it is so cool seeing them work. I guess it is just a different perspective of it.

This is a good video to tell the story behind the equipment from Kuhns MFG.

I see that these seem to work well on flat and level ground. My question is how well do the accumulators work on hills or side hilly grounds. Looks like they could not handle unlevel land very well

my dad had one we baled on hills alot, and let me you they are fucking garbage... well not all the time but we had problems with the bale grabber ... and never touching a bale thats bullshit the bales love to get jammed in the very top of the accumulator and we only used it for straw.....idk how but this dumb thing does not work for straw. we tried it on hay on our hay field which is on a hill and we had less problems but still

Do you think the tie grabber is mandatory or just a extra ?

    • @NordenMfg

The Tie-Grabber gives you more options on how to haul and stack your hay. It is also a big time saver to have the bale groups tied. In short, it isn't mandatory, but is a sure advantage.

8 bale sleds, that sit on the ground, have been around since the small bale was invented, using the gate system to arrange the bales, your system is just taller, more expensive and puts stress on the baler pushing bales up that chute. you have basically produced a worse version of something that has existed for decades, well done

Thank you for your comment. My dad owned an 8 bale drag style before he came up with this machine. There are a number of issues that you will encounter with the drag style that are all fixed with this style accumulator. For example, the Kuhns accumulator allows for packs up to 18 bale for a 225% increase in efficiency over an 8 bale system. It allows for the option to put the bales on edge for storage and also does not drag your valuable hay on the ground.
It is a myth that there is extra pressure on the baler. The plunger of the baler only applies pressure to the hay in the chamber, so anything restricting the hay will have a direct effect on the density of the bale. It is possible to make a 35lb. bale in the right conditions with the Kuhns accumulator. The bale chamber needs to be loosened 40%-50% to compensate for the chute but if it is loosened completely, the bales will be too loose to stack well.
