Dont think he held back, just adjusted. He used it to circle off the cage then as he let go cracked Benoit with the left as he raised his head, Also the KO was from a right hook not a left hook as Dusty is a southpaw@@GabrielVargaOfficial
Watch might mouse video about thia fight. He says the guillotines were slowing down the opponents wrestling and gas tank also. That guy was so tired before dustin kod him.

The one part of the fight that really shocked me was when BSD had Poirier on his back and Porier threw a punch from his back over his shoulder at BSD. The punch missed but the speed and power he generated from that position was unreal, it's inhuman.
He got that power by charging his hand like a thor hammer. LoL
There was a clear power difference in BSD and DP. and it shocked me because everyone was talking up BSDs power. But it was clear that Dustin had a power advantage, and he was faster.
Dustin is my favorite fighter, so I was concerned about how his durability would be coming off that gaethje kick, but I was glad to see that Dustin was tanking BSDs shots with relative easy, while Dustins shots seemed to hurt BSD.
Dustin can generate big power from weird angles even when he don't have much room
That's why his combos are so effective. He doesn't put full power into the fast , quick punches at the beginning of the combo, but they still seem to hurt and stun anybody they touch.. then at the end of the exchange, he sits down on the shots And those usually put people down.
For my money, Dustin is equal or better than any other 155er.
I saw that too. This is a point that I don’t hear anybody talking about, but it definitely look like he trained specifically for that.

I think the reason your friends were still worried even as he was finding his shots is probably because they were paying attention to Joe Rogan's commentating, and he kept pumping St. Denis' tires the whole fight. If you only listened to the commentary and didn't watch the fight, you'd think the win came out of nowhere. Rogan constantly made it sound like Poirier was getting whipped, and kept ignoring the counters that Poirier was slipping through.
He was getting whipped, until BSD gassed out
This was such a devastating KO by Poirier, when I watched the fight his striking and his defense were on point even his ability to rally and come back after getting outwrestled and almost armbared by Benoit Saint Denis, such an amazing fighter and for Benoit Saint Denis in my mind he should gain some experience and work on his defense and boxing skills and fight someone like Rafael Dos Anjos next overall a really exciting fight congratulations to both fighters on their performances but Poirier got the TKO win in the end, cannot wait for you Gabriel to cover the Michael Venom Page Vs Kevin Holland fight and Sean O Malley Vs Chito Vera fight!

Some people have commented on not wanting any advertising on his site and they just do not understand that that is how people are able to do a CZcams channel as the income comes from that, then how hard he works on this channel and how much time he puts in. Gabriel is still busy teaching his kids programs here in Victoria, teaches seminars across North America, does his CZcams Channel and still fights when able - so pretty active guy for sure.

In the UFC Porier is the God of Defense. Nobody that I know of has defense as good as him, only Sean Strickland is starting to come closer & closer with his weird Philly Shell but hey it works for him so who am I to judge.
Defense defense defense! Don’t just throw your hands mindlessly-bring them back during your shadow boxing. Make blocking just as instinctive as your striking

Hey Gabriel. May you make a video on what the feet are doing when slipping a punch? I've never seen any videos on it and am trying to get better.
Whilst watching tutorials on it they only mention what the upper body is doing. I only just noticed that I think they are pivoting whilst slipping? I've never been taught that and see no videos on it no matter who I watch whether it is Tony Jeffries, Shane Fazen or even Ramsey Dewey. I can only assume they are shifting their weight to the non pivoted leg? I don't know.
It would be a great help for me as my slipping is pretty bad since I have never been taught the technique. I want to get better at defense but as you can imagine it's difficult without a proper tutorial where they go into the ins and outs of it.
I've seen you make some great tutorials about parrying, blocking, moving out of the way, and trying to blend everything in to be less predictable. But I would like to add slipping to my repertoire.

Ah, looks like some 52 Blocks, blocks being used there. The Skull and Cross-Bones with the lead arm going down and Robbing the Bank with the arm across the face. Though, I have seen that type of stuff used in boxing and other stuff.

dustin is a beast, he is skilled and tough, i don't know why he was so obsessed with that guillotine in this fight tho xD
he was playing but mainly he was not impressed by Benoit Saint Denis grappling skills at all. He felt down by himself and gave his back for free like 3-4 times. He wasn't tired, didn't take damage. Even if he looked whipped in the first round, it was actually one of the easiest win he has never had

"Saint Denise", Jeez Gab give back your Canadian card, I know you're not from Quebec but that's brutal French pronunciation. Saint Denis = "San Denee", even if you took Spanish in Canadian high school (I did) you still took French in middle school, your American pronunciation of French is inexcusable regardless.
How do you feel about the fact that Poirier is R handed and using strong side first theory. Does this legitimize standing dominant hand first?
