    Well said. I remember I learned with a simulator, I then actually messed with small micros like the blade nano and xk110. I got my first trex 450 after that and I've never stopped since.

    I started by messing around with heliopters on a simulator, then i learnt the basics on a Blade MCPX, then i sort of forgot about helicopters for a few years before building a T-Rex 550X. The 550X is a really smooth and easy thing to fly.
    If you can fly an MCPX type heli competently, and you can get over the fear of flying big helis, a 550 size heli is a great option and you will progress far faster.

    • @rchelicopterhub
      @rchelicopterhub  Před rokem

      That's true indeed. However the MCPX is a bit quicky, it's small and nice, but because of its nature, I would not consider it as an ideal first model to learn. It's a great heli for indoor flights.

    Thanks for this. I have an old KDS Agile 7.2 I stopped flying a few years ago when I took a break from helis. The Nimbus would be great considering I could use the standard size servo and 6s packs from the Agile as well as the other electronics.

    • @rchelicopterhub
      @rchelicopterhub  Před 2 lety

      Thank you. As I said: there are two versions to be released. If you have standard servos already, then it makes sense, go for it. You will not regret it.

  • @ipadize

    i started with a silverlit (or was it silverline? hmm) mini helicopter with a 2 channel radio^^
    then i got a coax, which got lame pretty fast, then i got a Trex 450 Sport which i crashed a few times and then upgraded it to Flybarless. I sold this one a few years later and bought a Mikado Logo 600SE which i basically flew too hard (i once smoked the one way bearing when i was inverted doing full pitch down and had to do a successful emergency landing) so i had to get a Gaui X7 Formula which had a bad main rotorhead hub which i had to send to Gaui so they could send me a new one. This heli was great buti didnt really like the torque tube, so i got a Goblin 700 Competition and ot this day i fly it (exemption the last 2 years i had a break). Oh and i also have a Warp 360 :)
    With the Trex 450 i had a Spektrum DX7, later i upgraded to the Spektrum DX8 and when i bought the Goblin i also bought the Mikado Vbar Control with 2x Vbar Neo and Tribunus 200. All i can say is that i freaking love the ability, to setup and edit your whole helicopter via the Vbar control. :)

      Nice writeup. TBH the first stage was coax to me as well, but I don't count coax helis as helicopters. They are more toys. Good start to get infected, just not more.
      My first heli... Hmm. There will be a video about how NOT to begin... Sadly one example will be my story.

    I have to say. It is very useful, informative and educational. I went and bought the
    align T-Rex 500x. Great great helicopter
    It’s pretty big. I also bought the New Align
    T-Rex 650x which is an absolute beast of a helicopter. If you never flown larger class helicopters they can be very intimidating to fly. You are an expert so I subscribed and please be careful

    I wouldn't advise a 500 size for beginners, especially if they do not have a dedicated field to fly at. It's a danger to others around.

    • @rchelicopterhub
      @rchelicopterhub  Před 2 lety

      Bigger is more stable. And you are right, space is required even with a small helli. The ideal beginner size is around the 400-500 class. These helis are calm, more resistent to wind, but still affordable when they crash, and not so horrific than the bog helis.

    • @NorCalDudeBJJ
      @NorCalDudeBJJ Před 2 lety +2

      @@rchelicopterhub The OMP that you highlighted first is the largest I would advise a beginner. It is just as stable as a large heli. The "bigger is more stable" mentality was probably true 10 years ago, but not today. A large field is a required but insufficient condition for a large heli - it better be dedicated, as a large heli is a danger to others around. I've almost gotten hit by a large heli from a bad pilot in a park. A major accident with a large heli in a public park will lead to banning of all sizes for everyone.

    Szerinted az align t-rex 450 l dominator azért jobb kezdésnek mint a trex 150?

    • @rchelicopterhub
      @rchelicopterhub  Před 2 lety +2

      Egyértelműen. A dolog magyarázata egyszerű: minél nagyobb egy helikopter tömege, annál kevésbé érzékeny a környezeti hatásokra, a légmozgásokra. A 450-es kellemesen stabil és mentes mindattól a hirtelen reakciótól, aminek egy 150-es ki van téve. Az ideális kezdőméret valahol a 450-500 körül van, ha felfelé megyünk egyre ijesztőbb és egyre költségesebb, de stabilabb, ha lefelé megyünk, akkor olcsóbb, kevésbé félelmetes, de egyre inkább instabil (nem feltétlen billegésre, hanem hirtelen emelkedésre és süllyedésre, szélérzékenységre gondolok). Egy 450-essel 15-20 km/h-s szélben egy kezdő is elbánik, egy 7-8 km/h-s szél még a tapasztaltabbaknak is munkás lehet a 150-essel.

      @rchelicopterhub  Před 2 lety

      Thank you. TBH they worth a try, although I think they are a bit smaller than they should be. Bigger is better if your aim was real RC helicopter flying. There is a good mid level which is enough big to be stable but still not so big to be too terrifying. Depending on the candidate it is somewhere between 380 and 520 size.

    Oxy 2 is not a beginner heli nor anything with complex mechanic.
    Beginners are not used to repair and maintain a machine and this quickly become a BIG problem.
    My hobby is to buy mwchine from beginers and blueprint them. My last acquisition was a TRex 300X and really the machine was dangerous at first sight.
    The question is : cam you spot used dampers on a DFC machine ? Cause nowadays there almost all DFC..
    If the answer is NO, then buy a K110 cause every blades goes almost as fast as speed of sound and if your head explodes.. something gonna be dead with this simple mistake.
    Not even talking about missing washers and loccite..
    Also you don't seems to be a beginner.

    • @rchelicopterhub
      @rchelicopterhub  Před 2 lety

      Thank you for your comment but you are wrong.
      Nobody said: I am beginner. And everybody started this hobby somehow: many of us chose a wrong machine - like myself: an industrial sh...t. This episode for people, who are about to join the hobby and they don't know what helicopter can be an ideal choice as first model. We offer good, quality, affordable MODELS not toys. I taught many people to fly, I know what I am talking about. And as I remember, it is there EVERYWHERE in this video: "you will need someone, who can help you".
      The K110 is not a helicopter, it is a toy. No stability, no reliability, no spares - apart from banggood!!!! You gotta kidding me.

    • @goldnoob6191
      @goldnoob6191 Před 2 lety +1

      @@rchelicopterhub yup, but many will start the hobby anyway and they often begin alone.
      I remember my first machine a Trex 250, not an ideal one but going for a reputable brand is the way to go, here it's easy to get an Align or Sab part but it's really difficult to get brand new blades for OMP.
      K110 is not a toy nor is nano CPX, if you get them set up like mines : 8000 Kv Spin engine running on governor and unbreakable main gear.
      They can already slice an eye or something else if not handled properly. Even a 15 y/o Nano CP can do this..
      In addition to that, the XK software is outstanding even compared to Brain or Align ( it has stabilized flight at take off and landing for a 10th of the price ) . There is no shame to begin the hobby with something "harmless" until you understand what's actually going on and what parts are really important.
      My K110 has been a great flyer, so great in fact, it's the first machine in my collection 'retired' after numerous flights due to frame stiffness and metal fatigue !
      I have also been pissed with the servos.. But that's another story, I was already able to sense the difference, that's what we need for a first heli, crap cheap and expandable.
      Everything above is waste of money ultimately leading peoples to quit.
      I've met a lot of them :
      - 35€ Blade 180, only a single main spindle shat away from flying.
      - 20€ Nano Cpx with BL engine option requiring heavy servo cleaning.
      - 30€ Blade 130X 😬 difficult that one!
      - 2 Trex 250 for 60€...
      - 50€ Lynx Heli tuned frame, collector grade TRex 150X 😍 requiring servo maintenance and esc repair (that one is special tough and requires soldering skills)
      They all fly outstandingly know cause...
      No washer is missing 😁.
      After 12 years in the heli part of the hobby I think it's always difficult to balance blades correctly especially on micro where even a small tail rotor imbalance cause squirrely behaviors. As long as you have not experienced that once, your not qualified to fly anything above 200g 😅

      @@goldnoob6191what do you think of a xk k127 for a total noob?

    • @goldnoob6191
      @goldnoob6191 Před 9 měsíci

      @@magnusmuhli4717 🤔 it should be ok for beginners. I've been using the xk k110 for a while and it's a very good machine so the next iteration should be great. But one thing they don't tolerate many crashes and plastic parts goes out of tolerance very quickly mzking them sluggish. Have a good set if spares and buy a metal swash plate. Also servos are crap ! Buy spares with the heli.
      One thing, when you'll get comfortable they definitely miss power and auto-rotation gears (preventing main gear stripping 😔)...
      The next thing to buy may be an Oxy 2 or some blade 180.
      Also governor is really effective for small helis
