    Your review and summary pretty much mirrors many comments in recent times on the subject of P&O food.
    Corporate strategy seems to be to offer low fares, and to attract people on board. That's fine, but then cost saving need to be found somewhere.
    The sinical side of our thinking is that the included food offerings are what they are, to perhaps encourage guests towards the 'up-sale' of speciality dining 🤔
    Great review guys. Informative and entertaining.

      Thanks for watching and your kind words! Yes we agree with the upselling but it was weird that we they didnt try and upsell the speciality dining to us.. we only discovered some places on the last night of our cruise, which was a shame as we definitely would’ve tried it had they put in a little effort to get us to try it!

      Weird.....or is it. Maybe they just hope you'll migrate to those places naturally because the thought of more curry and fish n chips will drive you too it 🤣 @@BethandDavidCruise

    Thanks for the review . Good information. Food is an important part of a cruise holiday for me . David is 100% right , you get what you pay for.

      Thanks for watching! A cruise is still a cruise but we can definitely positively correlate the price of our cruises with the enjoyment we had on them!

    I took the Iona to norway last year and loved the ship. The library was great!

    Been on two cruises on Iona and haven't once been and battled on the buffet. So many nicer places to eat which will give a much better experience

      Definitely regret not trying to the speciality restaurants! Surprised they didn’t try and upsell them more… we didn’t hear much about them at all but when we walked past some the food looked really good but by then it was too late for us. Food definitely makes or breaks the experience! Thanks for watching

    yes the p&o food is very geared for the brits and very samey

      Yes not the best choice for an American onboard but they know their audience very well! Thanks for watching

    We don’t think you will be going back 😂 . Agree with most of your comments. Although we had better food and service on Arvia . We spoke to people who love Ventura and they said that you tend to get treated like your on a booze cruise when doing these 4 day cruises.

    • @BethandDavidCruise
      @BethandDavidCruise  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Yeah I think we definitely hit the jackpot for picking a “booze cruise”, especially with it going to Amsterdam! We hear contrasting things for newer ships (as you say about Arvia) so wouldn’t mind trying that or Iona. First I think we’ll be off on some other lines before then though! Thanks for watching as always 🫶

    On cruise ships if its not good service, it's bad service since I've found cruise staff are overwhelmingly great. P&O sounds low rent and dreadful.

    • @BethandDavidCruise
      @BethandDavidCruise  Před 3 měsíci

      You’re right. Cruises are held to the top standard for almost everything, service being one of them. We didn’t have any specific negative events, just no good interactions so it was disappointing. Thanks for watching!

    Long lines for a bad buffet sounds terrible.

    • @BethandDavidCruise
      @BethandDavidCruise  Před 3 měsíci

      We started going later to avoid the lines but we found the good food options had run out and weren’t being replenished - especially desserts. Was probably the worst buffet we’ve experienced! Main dining room wasn’t so bad though

      Many cheap cruise lines are like that … MSC are historically Olympic gold medal winning standard queues …get what you pay for is the truth of it

    • @BethandDavidCruise

      @@user-ro8dw8ms9n yep we found p&o and MSC quite comparable.. agree with you get what you pay for!

    So your food reviews are very buffet related, breakfast in the MDR is very good so is lunch, but with ‘the epicurean’ ‘the beach house’ ‘sindu’ and ‘the glass house’ to also choose from it’s not really a fair review.
    The only time we use the buffet is on embarkation and the food is just ok.

    • @BethandDavidCruise
      @BethandDavidCruise  Před 28 dny

      The buffet is mostly where you can find us and where most people eat most of the time, so generally there is a focus on it for our videos, as well as main dining. We didn’t try speciality (although we wish we had!) so we kept to the complimentary stuff to review on here. For us, if the food isn’t good enough to eat for almost the entire cruise in the buffet and MDR, then wed rather pay slightly more to go somewhere where it’s better in the complimentary areas of the ship. Just our preference!

    Multi generational cruises are always a bad sign …. When “nan” is about 38 years old you know you’re in trouble …😂
