    Some really great tips Gabe! I struggle quite a bit on shots within 100 yards. The clock technique seems like a good way to control your distance for better approach shots. I need to get out there and practice these short game shots.

    With the chipping tip, you should be reading those like putts expecting to make them. Decide where do you want it to land and how is it going to run out, and they'll start to go in

    5:30 I totally agree with this, I shot +1 on the front 9 just because I made 95% of these shorter putts, thanks for the mention Gabe, my putting was so good in the tournament, another thing about this (in my opinion) when you talk about restricting movement while putting is that I notice how you spread your legs wider (which is what I'm doing) and I think by spreading your legs wider, this will restrict movement. I also seen this in lower handicappers.

      Interesting. I’ve never thought of it that way but makes total sense. I do it to get closer to the ball, but fringe benefit is balance

    Some great tips here. I really like the shrinking your target. So important no matter if it is a drive, a lay up, chip or putt. Good video. It should help a lot of players. 👊🏼

    • @LetsPlayThru
      @LetsPlayThru  Před 3 lety +1

      Great point, it’s not just for chips. Any shot can benefit from a smaller target. Most people aim to just hit the fairway. I recently played with a tour pro who wanted to land it on a particular mower line to get more roll. That’s next level!

    I just need to know how much time I need to dedicate to practice, which I have no problem practicing I very much enjoy it

  • @ForetoFourGolf
    @ForetoFourGolf Před 3 lety +3

    The #1 tip is soooo important. When I play with good players, the thing I always notice is that we all hit bad shots. The difference between scratch or low handicap golfers and mid and high is that the good players won’t make two mistakes in a row. Take their medicine and trust the short game!

    I have broken 80 once in competition. The difference was that I kept the tee shots in play. The courses I play on are tree lined, several trees deep. My secret weapon is my Cobra single length 19 degree hybrid. It gets me out of trouble so well. I think accepting that a poor lie means that you need to change your club selection and your expectations for the shot. In many cases advancing towards the green and keeping the ball in play is the better strategy.

  • @creamabdul-jabbar6722
    @creamabdul-jabbar6722 Před 2 lety

    I love anything 100-80. I can hit a full gap or a full sw. I got to find my 60 and below. I think it’s getting better with not full shots. I weirdly hit gir at a high clip. I’m good with pw, at 120, gap at 100, sw 80-85. I aim to get to 100 yards. If it’s a good hit I’ll usually be around a sw. if it’s normal I’m at a gap wedge, if it’s bad I’m 120-140. I’m good with short irons. But chipping putting gives me the problem. Mainly a problem with thin shots around the green

  • @bp8719

    It’s so hard to practice distance on the range. Range balls are typically worn or not even full distance balls. I traditionally only practice line on the range. Anyone have any pointers?

  • @geoffcohen613

    Double bogeys come from playing too aggressive by trying to make birdies.
    Forget PAR on hole it's a concept.
    Also playing of forward tees will help with scoring.
