    • @johngrizzle8826
      @johngrizzle8826 Před 4 lety +1

@@salwashabazz7329 Thank you!! I guess either depending on personal preference. Although I love the original and love older movies more in general, id probably go with the remake. But like I said i love both and it's just personal preference. I don't really consider the original a slasher as much as I do a mystery of sorts.

    • @salwashabazz7329
      @salwashabazz7329 Před 4 lety +1

John Grizzle: Yea I agree! I think either version would go well with Tourist Trap (which I just recently seen for the first time!). I tend to prefer the originals over remakes but there have been a few times when remakes have turned out pretty good. I find a lot of ppl didn’t like the remake...there were some acting flaws lol...but as far as story, suspense, kills, I thought it was good. I enjoy both and I have both DVDs...the 1953 DVD also includes the original 1933 version “Mystery of the Wax Museum”.

@@salwashabazz7329 Yea the acting was pretty subpar (Paris Hilton) lol I do have a crush on Elisha Cuthbert however. And I agree the kills where really good. When she peels her boyfriends face off was an awesome scene. And I like that they actually showed how they incase the people in wax. Another solid remake for me was The Hills Have Eyes. But I'm like you, I usually prefer the orginals

Blade and Underworld double feature sounds really good! I been meaning to sit and finally check out the Underworld sequels.
Doomsday looks pretty dope, and I cannot BELIEVE I've never seen either of the 'Escape' movies. 80s Kurt Russel was the dude!

  • @matthewmutchman9689

Definitely interested in checking out The Evil, it looks pretty scary.
    But in no particular order:
    1. 28 Days Later/Dawn of the Dead (Remake)
: Both have fast zombies and were released around the same time.
    2. The House on Sorority Row/The Initiation
: Both are 80's sorority slashers. Yes you could swap one out with Black Christmas, but that is more serious, where the other two are not quite as tension filled...and it's a Christmas slasher.
    3. Insidious/The Conjuring
: Yeah, I know, this one is kind of easy.
    4. When a Stranger Calls (Remake)/Scream
: Obviously because of those phone calls and no, I don't like the original When a Stranger Calls.
    5. The Burning/The Prowler
: Not sure why, but whenever I think of The Prowler, I also think of The Burning. Maybe it is because they are both 1981 slashers or maybe because Tom Savini did the effects for both.
    6. Carrie/Phenomena: Both have telepathic girls and fantastic scores!
    7. Aliens/Predator: Yes, another easy one, but you can't tell me they don't go well together.
    8. The Amityville Horror (Original)/The Shining: Both have a psychotic father carrying an ax around with psychotic performances.
    9. An American Werewolf in London/Fright Night: Both are horror movies with comedy elements, NOT horror comedies. Almost went with The Howling & Fright Night, because I like The Howling more, but The Howling has no comedy.
    10. The Thing/The Fly: A night of practical effects.
No I have not actually watched these as double features before, I just went with what I think would make good double features. But hey that doesn't mean I can't down the road.
I also considered putting Suspiria & Inferno, but Inferno is technically a sequel to Suspiria. I feel like Child's Play and Dolls would also make a great double feature, but I have not seen Dolls, but really, really want to. Also Madhouse and Happy Birthday to Me double feature would be the second best horror double feature behind Halloween 1 & 2.

Great top 10 and great idea for a top 10.
    My top 10 would be.
    Honorable mentions:
16.Night of the Creeps/Slither:Movies with similar themes and a good mix of horror and comedy
15.Urban Legend/Campfire Tales:Two movies that deal with Urban Legends. Both in a fun way, but different than the other one.
14.The Strangers/Hush:Two fantastic home invasion movies for when you are Home Alone our even better, on vacation in a forest our deserted area
13.The Fog/The Mist:Perfect horror night for when it s foggy outside.
12.Chopping Mall/Hard to Die: Both these Jim Wynorski movies are a lot of fun. Just get a bowl of popcorn turn your mind of and enjoy these movies. Chopping Mall is without a doubt the better of the two movies, but Hard to Die is also a fun time.
11.Jaws/Piranha 3d (Remake) A great horror movie night to start the summer, especially when you are planning to go for a swim the next day haahaa
    Now for the 10
10.Friday the 13th Part 2/April Fool's Day: Two different type of slasher movies but both have Amy Steel in a great role.
9.Carnival of Souls/Final Destination: Two movies with similar themes but done in a very different way
8.Suspiria/Phantasm: Both these movie feel like something you would experience in a nightmare and that makes for a freat horror movie night. I could have put A Nightmare on Elm Street in here, but Suspiria and Phantasm are more similar to eachother
7.My Bloody valentine/Valentine: The perfect combination for a scary Valentine's evening
6.Body Snatchers/The Faculty: Aliens are taking over everyone you know. Both these movies are fastpaced and very rewatchable. They both have there own style, so while having similar themes they both show it in their own way
5.Rosemary's Baby/The Omen: These movies could have been part of the same universe. I know they are not, but the couple in The Omen accidentally get the wrong baby. What if that is Rosemary's Baby. I know it might not match up completely but it s a fun way to watch these movies back to back haahaa
4.Friday the 13th/Sleepaway Camp: A good summercamp double feature to watch during summer. After these two movies you won t let the kids to summercamp haahaa
3.Friday the 13th part 6: Jason Lives/Return of the Living Dead: Two fun horror movies with Thom Mathews in the leadrole. Perfect for when you don t want your horror movie night to be to serious but still want to watch some good horror movies.
2.Black Christmas/Halloween: Halloween was very much inspired by Black Christmas and the way the two films open are very similar. These two movies might be great to watch back to back, to see the inspiration one had on the other and to decide for yourself which one did it better.
1.New Nightmare/Scream: New Nightmare has been called a predecessor to Scream, because in both movies other scary movies are just that, movies. It s fun to see that and both movies do it perfectly, while also being scary. Besides that it s always a great idea for horror movie night to watch two movies from Wes Craven in a row.

Hey Lee, great list and great idea for a video. Lots of good ones on your list. The possibilities are endless with this one. Here's a few that I personally thought would make great double features...
    Honorable mentions:
    15. Pumpkinhead/Rawhead Rex
    14. Puppet Master/Dolls
    13. Child's Play/Dolly Dearest
    12. C.H.U.D./Alligator (both sewer horror)
    11. Salem's Lot/The Night Flier (both Stephen King vampire stories)
    ___________________________
    10. Cube/Escape Room
    9. The Entity/Paranormal Activity
    8. The Changeling/The Others
    7. Burnt Offerings/House
    6. Ghost Story/Rose Red
    5. Slither/Night of the Creeps
    4. Arachnophobia/Kingdom of the Spiders
    3. Maniac Cop/Psycho Cop
    2. Friday the 13th/Madman (1981)
    1. Creepshow/Tales from the Darkside: The Movie
I'm sure there's a million more I could come up with, but these immediately came to mind. Great video buddy. Take care!

This was an interesting “Top 10”, great video! I wasn’t familiar with quite a few...some are recent movies I’d never heard of or had no interest in seeing (🤷🏾‍♀️ sorry, horror nowadays just doesn’t do it for me lol); and there’s one that I can’t find on any streaming service so I’ll probably have to purchase it (if available). But you’ve piqued my interest now in four more so I’m gonna try to check them out! Coming up with my own list wasn’t as easy as I’d thought it’d be lol...especially trying to come up with some not already listed (didn’t go too well 🙂), so anyway in no particular order: 1) Hills Have Eyes (1978)/ Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)...when I first saw these back in the day, they were the craziest families ever. 2) Candyman/Urban Legend...I just think they’d be a good match bcuz of their urban legend factor. 3) Carrie (1976)/Prom Night (1980)...2 crazy nights at the senior prom. 4) Psycho (1960)/FD13 (1980)...crazy son over dead mother and crazy mother over dead son. 5) Children of the Corn (1984)/Orphan...children kill all the adults then sacrifice themselves before becoming adults vs. an adult desperately trying to stay a child to become adopted. 6) Hell Night/Sleepaway Camp...I know they’re not the same plot-wise but they both have an unexpected twist at the end (and I wanted to put SC with a different movie than Lee 🙂). 7) Wrong Turn/ House of 1,000 Corpses...updated versions of crazy, cannibalistic families (like HHE & TCM). 8) People Under the Stairs/ Don’t Breathe...both situations of break-ins, discovering something horrid then having to fight to survive in order to get out. 9) The Amityville Horror (1977)/ Thirteen Ghosts (2001)...haunted houses filled with possessed spirits and both fathers having to complete huge tasks for their family’s safety. 10) The Stepfather (1987)/ Misery...underneath their crazy exteriors are crazy interiors looking for love and acceptance. I came up with three honorable mentions: *Slaughter High/Terror Train...the wronged/scarred nerds seek revenge on those responsible. **What Lies Beneath/Stir of Echoes...these two have always had similar creepy supernatural elements and I love both endings. ***Saw/Truth or Dare...similar “game-type” plots with torturous consequences if they choose not to “play”. Ok I’m done (whew!)...sorry it’s so long🙂😁✌🏾

I'd say The Void + nearly any John Carpenter flick, and if you're stuck inside on a snowy day, The Shining, The Thing and The Hateful Eight (not really a horror film, but it still fits if you need a triple feature to kill some time). And for Easter last year, me and my wife watched The Omen and The Exorcist.

Some pretty good suggestions. Quite a few years back, the local nostalgia cinema (which does mostly double features) had the original Halloween paired with Hardware. That was a surprisingly good match.
They've also paired the likes of The Thing and An American Werewolf in London, Psycho and The Birds, Jaws and Duel, They Live and Prince of Darkness, and are one of the few cinemas in this country that played the full version of Grindhouse, complete with fake trailers. Can't wait for them to reopen.
Some double features I think would be fun to match would be:
The remakes of The Fly and The Blob
Midsommar and the original Wicker Man
Angel Heart and The Devil's Advocate
Deathgasm and Trick or Treat (1986)
    Mimic and The Relic
    The Loved Ones and Snowtown
    Razorback and Dark Age.
