In the book, Mr. Darcy actually cracks up laughing while thinking about Elizabeth’s “even if ones partner is barely tolerable” comeback later on when he’s alone in his room. He was whipped right then

Could we get Lizzie and Jane being sisters for x minutes straight? Pretty please? They were honestly so cute and REAL. I mean, what sister doesn't kick you under the table and talk boys with you and eavesdrop on all your conversations? Their dynamic was so adorable! 🥺

@@priscillajimenez27 since commenting that originally, i have found my darcy. he was in the most unexpected place, but i promise there’s one out there for you too
How does one survive that wet scene where Darcy declares himself and is brutally rejected by the most splendid Elizabeth. How that last approach of Darcy striding towards our Lizzie kills with sheer sex appeal and class. I'm dead for that man. Dead.
I watched the movie 3 days ago for the first time and I’m OBSESSED OMG. The development of Mr. Darcys character, the way he looks at her sksjjssks THAT HAND FLEX OMG, the music, the scenery. I’m in love with this movie, I’ve already watched it 3 times and dozens of scenes on yt. I’m going to read the book for my presentation for English, I can’t wait to read it!! :D I bet I’ll need google translate often, bc English isn’t my first language :)
Good news:A few days ago,on Wednesday,I was watching television with my father, and I put on Pride and Prejudice while he wasn’t looking at the screen. My dad is the type of man that likes to act all tough and refuses to watch “chick flicks”,so for a good few minutes I was arguing with him, trying to get him to watch it with me,and he eventually buckled when I told him that he needed to broaden his horizons.Fifteen minutes in(it was right after the scene where Lizzie and Jane were talking about the ball where the met Mr.Darcy and Mr.Bingley)he asked me to pause it (it was getting late,we had been watching a travel show prior to P&P) and said “okay now I want to watch this dammit”😂. We’ve got another one,my friends!!! It just so happens that I suspect that Lizzie’s remark to Mr.Darcy about dancing is what convinced him;not even he can prevent himself from liking Miss Elizabeth a little bit.If you don’t already know,Jane Austen wrote in a letter that she didn’t think she “could tolerate someone who [didn’t]like Lizzie even a little bit”.
Everyone was sleeping on this!! I’ve had the movie and have watched it since I was like 9 and now I’m 22. My favorite movie. With each year, I understood more and more lol. Glad it’s getting more recognition though. Truly deserves it
I believe I'm the minority here but this movie is so astoundingly beautiful to me that I couldn't read the book. And I tried three times, already. I've read several Jane Austen books, but never this one.
It might be easier to listen to an audiobook version, it's a lot easier to pick up on the sass and drama listening to someone making a sassy intonation while reading it.
According to Jane Austen, Elizabeth's father had an income of £2,000 a year. In contrast, in Sense and Sensibility she states that a clergyman (the Rector of Delaford) had an income of only around £200 a year. Even he, however, was relatively well off for the vast majority of the population lived on less than £70 per annum.

just watched pride and prejudice for the first time last night and I'm OBSESSED now to say the least. this video is *scrumptious* btw
Almost as scrumptious as those boiled potatoes xoxo

I think the sassiness of Elizabeth that actually makes Mr. Darcy fell in love with her in the first place.
That's Elizabeth's take at the end of the book, at least. Darcy calls it her 'liveliness of spirit'.
It's weird that this film was made 15 years ago but it's resurfacing now
This is the "Is this a joke Jane?" face😆

Lydia "choking" on the potatoes always makes me crack up so hard.
It felt a bit off to me, coming from the book. As portrayed in the book, I feel Lydia would not have tried to hide her laughter at all.

I'm pretty sure the casting process for Jane Austen films is just measuring the length of your neck. The longer it is, the bigger the role.
