This has been a serious problem for over 30 years in our country. It doesn’t discriminate. I lost my son 28 years ago to this epidemic. Juvenile prisons packed with drug addicts. The national drug response was to just say no. Not much has changed except that the problem is bigger. What will it take to open our eyes. The major problem is people look down on addicts. Wake up. They are sick and need help. Many today become addicts do to our medical system and doctors.

Addiction is only a problem when prohibition is applied , and we know prohibition doesn’t work and have repealed a constitutional amendment because of the overstepping of governmental powers ….. addiction is a problem that’s solution needs to begin by ending the war on drugs ( society has lost in large parts due to this unwinnable but infinitely fundable war on this countries citizens) for a multitude of reasons but above all it has been a way to divide those with means and there loved ones never got sucked up into the cycle of incarceration , violation of probation, rearrest …. When you have enough money behind you the laws don’t apply the same way to those with money ( rich & powerful family \ loved ones , in the LEO apparatus or prison industrial complex ) vs those without money who often got both barrels of justice in many cases …. What decriminalization does is it would make the cartels evaporate in a matter of weeks …..with decriminalizing comes prices falling so there is way less money involved in its manufacturing and trafficking of the drugs, that would help out this country Mexico and all of central and South America , it would be a way to hit China in the money flow from the proceeds from drugs sales as they launder a lot of the Mexican cartels money and supply Mexico with the precursors that produce the drugs ,,,,, it takes a large part of XI’s asymmetrical war on America and its people away from him….. it would reduce fentanyl production and it would force Xi to the table to get china to limit the precursor production as I would imagine most of that production currently is being made specifically for Mexico to manufacture fentanyl ,… it may have other industrial uses but I’d bet 90%+ is heading to Mexico and that needs to stop …. If we get a politician who will stand up to Xi and force china to do things that will save Americans lives that’s a huge step in the right direction ….. we decriminalize drugs , end the war on drugs , that dissolves the DEA we are freeing up tens of billions of budgetary dollars that can be reallocated in other areas . We need a constitutional session of congress where we can achieve dramatic legislative change in a very short amount of time …..we restructure the fbi / cia……. The intelligence agencies get gutted and combined ..we gut the federal bureaucracy / permanent state ..fire every SES member and have begin a deep investigation into the SES …we end the fed and give the treasury back to congress , we renegotiate our national debt , we audit the military and dark projects , set up committees with equal parts political , public and LEO members to do an audit of every classified document that’s been produced since Ronny Raygun ….. no more hiding crimes , protecting people who have committed treason , it’s impartial nonpartisan and prosecutorial when corruption of any type is found ….. we get rid of all the not needed classified mountain of classified documents that exist , we reveal most to the public and we deal with the consequences from this house cleaning , we delouse as much as we can ,,,, we put bad guys in jail who have become outta control we release the Weaner laptop , we reveal all of Epstein docs ….expose who was a guest on his island who rode around in his jet we expose these corrupt pos amd let the cards fall where the may ……

From what I've read, drugs aren't the problem. They're a symptom of the real problem: the loneliness and isolation felt by a majority of Americans in this country. The rise of drug addiction in the U.S. is coupled with the search for a strong personality, a savior, that will make everything alright.. It's a soul sickness for lack of strong community ties. It goes hand-in-hand with mass shootings and other signs of a society in decline.

Ummmm no u can't. Addiction has been a problem as long as animals have been here. Not just humans.
As for humans....ppl will always look for an escape. Could b naughty media material or video games. It's still an addiction. No amount of anything will ever change that

While I agree that people can end their addiction and lead a productive life, I do not agree with the assertion that “we” can do that. There is no “we” when it comes to addiction. No “we” in government, and no “we” in nonprofit organizations. I also disagreed with the term “misused.” That implies a pedantic relationship where one person knows what’s best and the other person does not. That is the basis of a dictatorship in politics. It suggests that as long as you have official permission taking a substance is permitted and when you don’t have that permission, it is not permitted. That is Orwellian.
