- The latest Star Wars so-nerdy-its-cool news: People have figured out that the Rogue One soundtrack contains a really neat "hidden" reference to the Imperial March (which some people think of as Darth Vader's theme). Although the official Imperial March is included at the end of the film -- right as you're thinking "I can't believe I just saw that" -- it is also "hidden" in the track playing just before that, when Darth Vader is busy making the best ending of a movie ever. This video plays the track called "Hope", then doubles the speed of playback, then overlays it with the Imperial March. Nerdy sleuthing! :)
We need a full remix of the last part!
I couldn't agree more! I don't understand any SW fan who doesn't get a chill the first time they hear those two tracks mixed. Imperial March + vocals = pure gold.
Liam Pinno
"The Wrathful March of the Empire"
we need a 10h version of the last part!!!!!!!!!!!
Todd Northrop would love to put a full version of the last part in my rogue one/a new hope movie edit!!
+1
Legends say the voices are from the fallen jedi that vader slaughered
Holy shit..
Actually gave me the chills man
Wow... I'm creeped out now
Interesting!
Not just the men, but the women and children too
0:26 This version of the Imperial March it's so epic
Agreed
God, imagine if the last part kicked in when Vader was kicking ass. Missed opportunity to give the audience even more chills!
Yeah, "Hope" turned so suddenly into a more happy tune when they managed to escape. Exceptionally dumb if you think about it.
Arthur Wild that's why it's called hope
That would have been sooo epic. It would have given me a even bigger smile on my face😁😁
actually the music during Vader's scene at the end of Rogue One is simply a slowed Imperial March. speed it up 3x.
Search on yt "darth vader hallway scene set to imperial march"
And I thought that scene couldn't get any better...
WE NEED A FULLER VERSION!!
+Atomrules101 Funny to say, we already destroyed them.
You may fire when ready
Grand Moff Tarkin Commence primary ignition...
BOOM!
Ded
Rebel Alliance HA HA HA GOOD ONE
For the rebel alliance
0:30 Words cannot describe the goosebumps I got listening to this with headphones.
0:27 It is pure gold
0:20 sounded a bit like Darth Malak's theme, too
why would anyone dislike this?
Alexander Simmons and they're fed
Dead
Because either:
A) they were rebels
B) they were people who think CZcams is only for gaming videos
or
C) they were people who dislike everything because they like being jerks
Toby Rowe Don't forget
D) Star trek fans
All those rebels solders slashed by Vader
That was awesome I had chills when they mixed hopefully hope gets reused with the imperial march in further films.
Dude a full version of this would be badass! Nice catch by the way never even noticed.
I noticed it from the first viewing of the movie. Clever. But not hidden. John Williams himself has done the same thing in the Prequels - weaving the Imperial March in and out of different themes.
CLM Productions
Not to mention weaving the Emperor's theme from Return of the Jedi into the parade scene from the end of The Phantom Menace.
Oh, just a quick clarification, John Williams didn't do the score for this film, it was Michael Giacchino.
Awesome Productions Whoa,really? interesting!
You learn new things all the time in the Star Wars community 🙂
Little Winter Flower
Yeah, I learned it from watching Screen Junkies' video "Mindblowing Movie Easter Eggs".
but those were more subtle
jesus i felt goosebumps when the imperial march became more ominous. if we really only knew the power of the dark side
No hay nada mas epico que ver a Lord Vader masacrando escoria rebelde mientras suena el himno del imperio de forma epica y con coros
This incredible! I never noticed!! :O
Thank you for this sir!
Really?!?!?! Dude wtf
You’re welcome
Anakin's theme fits perfectly with the imperial march (Darth Vader's theme), I was expecting to see the transformation of one theme into the other, paralell to Anakin's transformation in Vader.
These people saying they heard it out right are lying. 🙄
🎵🎵🎵
I’m a semi-trained ear; a part of the music community. And I did NOT instantly make that connection. Because the progressions varied & it’s not straight forward. AND I AM A SW FAN for days!
You guys just THINK saying “it’s not hidden” & supposedly “I heard it right away” makes you look cooler & a bigger fan than thou type of thing.
ANYWAY, the score for that part is A M A Z I N G & we know coming up with something to stick on John Williams coattails ain’t easy. He’s the fucking Bach of our times.
So this stands up to that challenge. Michael is da man!
Agreed dude. That being said, I’ll make another point on why no one noticed the arrangement their first time: they were marveled at the events playing out on screen and having a nerdgasm like the rest of us lol
I would like to disagree on this one. Not because of your background in music, that i do not challenge. However, i will tell you as much; i got into Star Wars not even a month ago and have associated seeing Vader on-screen with the Imperial March. Everytime i see him it plays in my head and i start humming it whether there is music or not. During the hallway scene, my thoughts went directly to the March and it happened to fit with Hope.
Sometimes context and personal views help people see things.
We can all come to the same conclusion with different point of view, that's why art is art.
I ain't saying you're not a musician. But if you didn't hear the Imperial March in hope the first time you heard it you're probably a shit musician.
@Lucas Luckstone This comment, honestly. Sometimes context and triggers are more important than plain knowledge and skills.
Wow, they think about everything
Oh my gosh!
Why wasn't I so perceptive!?
I was so fascinated about music, it never came to thought to look deeply into it!
>,,..,,
That was genius!!
You are brilliant!
What my cousins hear when I come for my PS4: 0:06
PLEASE! Give us a full version of the imperial March + double speed HOPE. WE BEG OF YOU.
OK that's freaking cool.
I feel like you could make a version of the Imperial March with a choir from that theme
I got chills
Me too
I always thought the choir in the background was saying save us
I find your loyalty... acceptable.
Thank u
Someone who spotted it out
After I watched it I told my friends dat it was the imperial theme
And they said "u mad bro"
I knew that when I first saw the movie.
KingLink95 Ugh, I feel so dumb! 😞 everyone in the comments is saying they already knew this, and I never even noticed! even though I've rewatched the scene over and over!! ARGGGHHH!!!
Little Winter Flower I'm pretty sure they're just saying that bruh this is awesome! Thanks for making!
Little Winter Flower it's fine I didn't notice either after watching it a lot you can hear it but only a small amount
Mee too its sooooooooooo obvi
Genius
That's awesome!
PLEASE DO A FULL REMIX OF HOPE+IMPERIAL MARCH..
PLEASE I BEG YOU!!!
AWESOME!!!!!!!
we need a full theme!
Someone needs to make a full version
*Darth Vader wants to know your location*
The intro music for the future movie, Vader: A Star Wars Epic.
I think that was the point
yep, same chords
my mouth was wide open when i realized it
make a full version i dare of this songs
I basically already knew because when I learned to play it on the piano, the chords were the same.
ooh it's beautiful.
Almost two years and nobody has made a full version of the mix... why?
Mow every time I watch that scene I hear this
Brilliant, brilliant (Maul's voice)
Man, it sounds like lotr at normal speed
I need a full version--
Hidden? Not at all, it was fairly obvious that this was a more terrifying version of The Imperial March.
oh so cool
fits perfectly
+Todd Northrop This is cool what you made at the end, it's similar to like a Darth Maul theme song version in a Darth Vader theme song version, isn't it?
I wonder if the hidden Vader song lyrics is the same language like the Maul song lyrics just like I knew that the theme was maybe a Darth Vader version of Darth Maul's at the end of Rogue One.
You don't say. I found it quite obvious the first time I watched the movie
That's fucking mental
Well daaang
Seriously... Why has this not been made into a full length track...
I noticed already
oh wow
RIP rebels
I noticed that
Hi from Sweden
Wow
dose enyone ever get the origonal impeareal theme stuck in thare head. the one from a new hope
hope has imperial march but not hidden
wow
I knew this lol
Isn't this the score used when Vader killed those rebel troops?
Ya don't say.
With Rouge One - Hope paid Giacchino tribute to John Williams. [at least in my opinion] :)
I thought this was obvious? I mean, I dunno about anyone else, but I recognized the riffs when they were playing?
0:28 on loop thank me later
Not exactly hidden, I heard it when I saw the film
How can anyone listening to Hope by Michael Giacchino think immediately that it's just the Imperial March slowed down. I'm calling bullshit on people who says that they knew immediately that Hope was just the Imperial March slowed down.
I didn't catch it myself, but I wouldn't be surprised. The cadence is pretty obvious.
(also, it's not exactly the Imperial March slowed down; it just shares the same progression)
I knew from the first three notes in my first viewing. They are the same as Imperial March. When you noticed this the rest is pretty easy, especially since they use the same chords.
There is 666 likes i just made it 667
Hmm and a bit of messing around to make the choral part fit better... Not really hidden if you have to do that much tinkering to make it obvious.
It was obvious without the editing
Hi
that is obvious
There is no hope
Kmaximus Connor Only 'Nope'
0:29
can't believe this was the one good star wars movie did from disney, 7 is reaching but holy shit everything else is complete garbage, really gave new hope and then,...
How can it be a secret if it's Vader's scene?
El tema se llama Hope no por las palabras finales de la princesa Leia. Se llama Hope porque Vader es la última esperanza del imperio para recuperar los planos que tienen la escoria rebelde. jajaja.
Larga vida al imperio
Not exactly hidden....
This isn't exactly hidden.
This incredible! I never noticed!! :O
Thank you for this sir!
WE NEED A FULLER VERSION!!
