Hey, your welcome. Took this trip into Chicago almost 2 weeks ago. This was because I was taking the Lincoln service to STL later that morning. It was pretty cool seeing the searchlight work at night like that. Glad you enjoyed.
@@Amtrak-4621-video-productions it certainly was cool. took me until the third or fourth set of signals to realize that they weren't blinking yellow, it was the reflection of the train lights on them haha.
A lot of questions on this! It’s a mars light. Most Metra trains have them like the cab cars and F40s. However they aren’t rlly on any other trains today. So it’s cool to go on one that does still have a mars light.
Did anybody else see what I saw at and around 4 minutes and 53 seconds it looks like someone is crossing the track but it like jumps the little stream on the side
Umm woah. I didn’t realize that. Wow. That’s not good definitely trespassing. Wonder if the engineer saw? Prolly not cause he didn’t blow the horn or anything. Ig maybe he contacted bnsf.
It is a safety device. At night, the sweeping light reflecting off of the trees and buildings along the right-of-way will get a driver's attention even if the crossing lights and bells do not. And out West, there are still many crossings at grade that do not have any protection except a crossing sign without lights.
You know, me being from NYC, I can't believe I just sat here and rode a different commuter train from end to end!
Great to watch a Metra cab ride video without the bell constantly ringing :)
Wdym I love the bell
Adorei a viagem, isso foi muito prazeroso!
Night ride

Haha, yeah there weren’t any other trains this whole journey surprisingly. Even for a 5am train.
I love this video what is that circle light going around for

bro the Bell is So Cool
Yeah for real. I’ve always loved the metra bell sound from inside the car.
@@Amtrak-4621-video-productions FR! I actually have videos of me manually ringing steel bells if you want you can check them out!

It's glare from the reflective milepost. It moves as the train gets closer to it.
What's up with that spinning headlight? It's very distracting....
It’s a Mars light. Not rlly sure why they have em. But most of all trains now a days don’t have the mars lights. But metra happens to have them.
why aren't the stations identified?
What do you mean? There are signs up on the buildings of the station.
What's with the light moving in a circle?
It’s a mars light. Used on older trains metra is one to still have them on most leading locomotives and cab cars. Pretty cool to see at night.
Interesting.
It's designed to get the attention of someone on the tracks who might not notice a static headlight slowly getting brighter as it gets closer.
