      As mentioned in the video i used an external microphone to record the audio from a mixer with no EQ(flat). There is no distortion because the external microphone didn't move throughout the video, it was placed 7 meters away from the speakers. So the recording was basically out from the front of speakers, through the microphone into the mixer and out of the mixer through usb into my laptop. I used Audacity to record the audio.

    Hey bro.
    I have seen nearly all your uploads. Loved it. :-) keep up with your content.
    According to your opinion, which would be the best value for money speaker (tops & subs) you have invested in?
    The products which cover up most of the crowd with ease.
    Any product better than the Bose F1? In terms of power & sound quality (less clipping & distortion).
    One of my friend owns 2 units of JBL SRX835P,(full range mode, no subs) he mentioned that the limiter kicks in even if it's not too loud(110-119dB)or after certain period of time of playing it loud.

    • @soundman123
      @soundman123  Před 3 lety +5

      SRX 835P is basically the same as the Srx 815p in terms of output using same drivers except for the mid driver(but the SRX 835P sounds better than 815p) . But because of it size one would expect it to deliver more output. The SRX 800series are louder than most 15inch speakers in the market.. Regarding 835P I would suggest using them at 100hz high pass with subs.. they get very loud.
      I have in my inventory
      1. Mackie SRM
      2. Bose F1
      3. SRX 835P 815p 828p
      4. Vrx932lap
      5. db technologies s 30n
      This is how I would explain its output
      2 bose 812s high pass = 1 SRX 835P and 815p high pass 100hz
      2 SRX = 1 Vrx932lap in 80hz high pass
      2 bose F1 subs = 1 dual SRX 828p ( bass travels further because of driver size)
      2 SRX 828p = 1 db technologies s 30n ( bass travels further because of design) also more than double the price.
      My Favorite Speakers i own is the Vrx932lap and db technologies s 30n, Regarding value for money it would be VRX932LAP but return for investment in goa it would be SRX since people pay for size mostly not output ,unless you have good convincing sills. Remember if you want the best you will never find it. Most of the brands nowadays in the same price range, you cant tell which is better and louder unless you compare them side by side. So Buy a system that your clients will want to hire. And in India it mostly JBL and sometimes RCF and then other brands like bose etc.
      Hope this helps make your decision.

    This is a great thread. Your advice is excellent! You seem to favour DZR315 but this has no pole mount and height is critical to get mids above audience - any suggestions - can it be modified? I have DSR12 and they are very clean sounding. JBL always sound a bit muffled except their tour level gear like your VRX932LAP. Would you recommend a two piece array for tops - 2 QSC KLA12 for example over a single 12 like a DZR12

    • @soundman123
      @soundman123  Před 2 lety

      You can actually modify the speaker to add a pole mount czcams.com/video/ULfdyB6T3WY/video.html, but would require a skilled person. ...I have personally not heard the QSC kla12 ,so I m not in a position to recommend .. I do own dzr15 and they are my personal Favorite Speakers , Amazing clarity and very loud in 100hz high pass mode and light weight. I think 1 dzr15 will be able to achieve similar volume as 2 QSC kla12 in high pass mode.

    These or Bose F1 model 812(2 tops, 2 subs). Which are best?
    Rating:
    Highs -/10
    Mids -/10
    Lows -/10
    Do you recommend these or Bose F1 for medium to large venues especially in Goa?

    • @soundman123
      @soundman123  Před 3 lety +1

      1.Both are amazing in their own way....It really comes down to the purpose you want to use it for
      In general if you are just comparing 2 SRX835P with full bose F1 system 2tops 2 lows.. than bose will give more base and fuller sound .
      But will also Cost more.
      SOUND is Subjective but in my opinion this is how i would rate it.
      SRX 835P TOPS With Flat EQ
      HIGHS 9/10
      MIDS 7/10
      LOW 7/10 for its Size
      BOSE F1 2 tops 2 bass flat EQ
      Highs 7
      Mids10/10( vocals Clarity AMAZING )
      Lows 10/10 (for its size )
      There are many other factor you need to consider before buying either one I cant Explain it here..
      2. Regarding venue Size in my opinion Eg Goan Wedding hall.
      Bose F1 2 tops 2 bass is not enough. Its Amazing in Small Spaces with people upto 100 to 150
      SRX 835sp will be good enough provided you add 2 dual bass eg Srx828sp and run it on high pass mode.

    • @josefernandes2600
      @josefernandes2600 Před 3 lety

      I understand. But portability is in my ' to fullfil too '. That's why I wanted to consider Bose F1. Also more dispersion pattern seems like an advantage over JBL SRX835P to me.
      According to your opinion, how many people will 4 JBL SRX828 subs and 4 JBL SRX835P sats cover up?
      Or
      Portability wise
      8 Bose F1 sats and 8 Bose F1 subs cover up?
      Which would be great for DJ use? I don't own trucks and transportation facilities much. I'll be using my father's car to transport equipment (as I always do)
      To avoid phase cancellation I'll be using external DSP & splitter. Got solution for comb filter too.
      So, just needed guidance before I invest huge amount of money. Bose or JBL which would be a wiser choice? Durability, portability, value for money wise.. rate -/10 for both brands.
      Another question
      I'm also interested in purchasing external power source to power my entire equipment. As our normal AC current is full of fluctuation, it's not in sine wave form.
      So, I'm interested in purchasing a generator. How many kW inverter generator would you recommend? I have seen Honda EU70is.. (2 units)

    • @soundman123
      @soundman123  Před 3 lety +1

      @@josefernandes2600
      1. If you don't have transportation then your only Choice is the Bose F1.
      2. bose 812s dispersion is good only if your using a single top on each side , but SRX 835P will give better dispersion of 120° with 2 tops on each side and very very less phasing issue than bose as it is designed for this purpose .
      3. Bose F1 4tops 4 bass should comfortably satisfy 250 people packed on the dance Floor. 4 SRX Tops and 4 dual SRX subs can comfortably cover 600 to 700 people packed on the dance floor
      4. For dj use would Recommend SRX between the two.
      5. Regarding Genset in Goa its better to hire than to buy one you can use that money to buy better gear.
      6. In my opinion this is what I would Recommend you if you have your own transportation..
      4 vrx932lap powered version (not passive version huge difference on how they sound) tops and 2 Rcf 8006as or 9006 or 2 db technologies s 30n subs ( what i use ).
      IF EQ DONE CORRECTLY
      Highs 10/10
      Mids10/10
      Lows 10/10
      Tops can cover 4 tops 1000+ people and 2 subs 700 to 800 people.

    Hey. Does the JBL SRX835P actually hit 136dB SPL without clipping and distortion?
    Power consumption in watts and ampere?
    Does your powered version clips a lot? (Most users complaints, a lot)

    • @soundman123
      @soundman123  Před 3 lety +3

      In this video the speaker is running at full volume in full range mode (main).. there is zero distortion in full range and high pass mode.... most high end active speakers in the market dont distort at limit... this speaker doesn't clip very easily but limit indicator comes on fast in full range mode but it loud enough.
      Doest it hit 136db ? Answer is No. All companies just play with numbers.. btw company rated is 137db max spl..my Vrx 932 lap is almost twice as loud as can easily damage your hearing permanently and is rated at 136db max... this speaker sounds very Good and loud.. but would never recommend it in full range mode.. use it in high pass 100hz with a sub its very loud and limit is hard to reach... for its size it doesn't feel loud enough in full range. Remember this is just like any 15inch speaker but better than most ...but because of the mid range driver it is large in size and people expect more from it because of its size..... if your looking for tower speakers also check out Yamaha dsr dual 15s or dzr series 315. I have always loved Yamaha speakers but i don't use them because of less market demand in rentals..
      Power consumption is 500watts max and about 2.2 to 2.5 amps max each speaker at 220v to 240v

      @soundman123  Před 3 lety

      There are many factors to consider before buying .
      Srx 835P pros
      1. Better quality sound and built quality
      2. Better features if your into tour type of sound.
      3. Can be expanded to 2 tops per side ( designed for this purpose or fills)
      Cons
      1. Bulky and heavier
      2. Narrow coverage per top ( won't be able to cover a wide venue if 1 top per side , suitable for rectangular shape venues)
      3. Price
      4. App connectivity.
      The prx 835 points is the opposite of the srx 835P .
      Choosing between the two will totally depend on which points you prioritize the most.
      But if you want a speaker that is lightweight and sounds better than the jbl srx835p and you won't be expanding your system in the future but is willing to sacrifice a little on built quality, the Yamaha dzr15 is the best speaker in my opinion. Not sure how it is priced in your country but it is cheaper than the jbls here in India.
