I’m almost 100% sure it’ll end at the northern crater. Assuming they’re going with Cloud’s memory being inaccurate, they’ll have to bring closure to that. When you’re telling a story you can’t leave that loose end untied. So beginning with Cloud’s flashback story and ending with the truth exposed. Maybe causing Cloud’s break and giving the black material to Sephiroth. Kind of like an Empire Strikes Back ending. Imagine the intense beginning part 3 will be with Tifa and co. escaping Junon.
Oh yeah, I agree - I think the overall mystery of FF7R is no longer Cloud's recollection of the past but rather involving Zack. Players already know especially with Reunion releasing just last year. So I do think the flashback will be riddled with memories of Zack and Cloud realizing he's not telling the right story as he tells the story. It will be interesting for sure. I like the idea of ending at Northern Crater. Not opposed to that, I just didn't find it likely when fitting in the parameters of 18 Chapters and the parallels I was drawing in this video but again, it doesn't have to be 18 Chapters and it doesn't have to parallel haha I personally think if Aerith lives, it would be a bad ending to end at Forgotten Capital and would rather it end at Northen Crater.
I like this, but I think Tifa will be killed at the crater, by Sephiroth or possibly Cloud himself in one of his persona freak outs. But I think it will be Denzel who brings back Cloud's true self, bringing him fading but lingering memories of Advent Children and after, and in turn flash images of Cloud and Tifa's night under the Highwind near the end of OG. I think would show Cloud's overall growth as a human if parental feelings for Denzel is what brings him back this time instead of romantic feelings for Tifa. As for Junon, I'd love to see Yuffie beat the crap out of Scarlet during an escape. I don't know what will become of Aerith, but I do not think she or Zack will be alive by the story's conclusion, nor would it be as good if they were. The Lifestream will move on, as would Cloud after an even more terrible loss. But I'll admit if there's one thing I want it's for Sephiroth to go for the hurt as much a kill :)
I want Tifa helping to tell the story of Nibelhiem. Throwing in some moments of Tifa being confused by Cloud, but not saying anything directly. But she needs to be telling everyone herself how she went after Sephiroth, lost her family, got mortally wounded. Her emotions would help to sell the story.
Great video with a lot of good points. The parallels are insane and it must have been a ton of work! I think the only disagreement I have is not ending it at the crater. In the context of the og, going from the capital to the crater is actually pretty quick, so yes they would need to add more to the game, but if they really add as much to Rebirth as we think, then it really is only 5% further they'd need to go. For a long time I wanted it to end at the capital because we don't know what is gonna happen, so whatever event happens would be very important. I still think it may be the best point to end this game, but the issue that ultimately comes is Part 3. For storytelling, it makes no sense to begin Part 3 with the characters feeling low, and 1-2 hours in have Cloud leave the party, everything going to hell, and having the party at their lowest. It is too messy and doesn't make sense from a (trilogy) storytelling perspective. If I am guessing, you go through the icicle inn/glacier area after the Bone Village, and then the devs will put the forgotten capital literally right near the crater. At least for lore, it makes sense.
One thing that was always suspicious about Cloud newrly killing Johnny and Reno. For both of them, Cloud never has the inclination to murder either one. It seems like something Cloud might do without Zack's influence. And for both, the green in his eyes expanded and started to overtake the blue; like the high concentration of Jenova cells overtaking the blue mako. Also funny, Roche is the only soldier ever depicted with a biker's jacket and is a second class soldier. If you read The Kids Are Alright, Ard is visited by a Soldier 2nd class in a biker's jacket, who cant speak because his geostigma is too far along, and soon dies. If this was indeed Roche, then he has a friend in Soldier with the last name Ard, whom works in rebuilt Nibelheim.

I’m hoping we see a gameplay demo finished with a new trailer at Tokyo Game Show. I could definitely see them doing a boss fight with either the dragon in the flashback, or the Midgar Zolom.
Before starting, I have two theories. One, it will end when Cloud joina the reunion, or close to it. Two: it will end when ff7 ends, leaving the third part to roll into new territory. I'm leaning towards one.
Your second theory was mad interesting. Never heard anything like it but yeah I would myself lean towards the game ending at the Northern Crater with Cloud as the final boss fight under Sephiroth's control.
@@carljohnson5710 The second theory falls under the fact that a remake was never promised. They kept saying they didn't want to redo the same thing because it would never have the same effect. They did however promise to finish the story, they promised a 5th entry to the compilation. 2015's announcement trailer states the promise has been made. As the 5th entry into the series, the 5th entry into loveless with crisis core being the 4th... Genesis, read the 5th page to the poem written by the Lifestream after Zack left Genesis behind for Weiss and Nero to pick up: "although there are no promises on the morrow, nothing shall forestall my return." He then gave us a list of things to look for. Rain, dew, etc. In the 2015 trailer, not only does it seem the narrator is specifically replying to Genesis, the trailer has images of rain, and an image of the feather and the flower, with a puddle of water between them and both have dew (water drops/moisture) moving on them. The things Genesis said to look out for. If in the speech from both crisis core by Genesis or the narrator in the 2015 trailer you replace the word promise with "sequel" or "final entry" or the next game.. and you have Genesis saying the final game in the compilation isnt yet made but nothing will stop it from coming...and the 2015 trailer saying that the reunion -- the reuniting with thr compilation may bring joy, may bring confusion, sadness, or even anger, but embrace it, for it is finally being made. What's more, there's no rain in ff7 remake. There's no dew, either. These effects were exclusively created for the trailer and never touched again. The interviews and ultimania for Advent, dirge, and crisis core talk about a plan for 5 entries in the series, with the 5th "becoming an epic conclusion to the story". In order to conclude it, well, it needs to tie in everything and finish in a way that brings all the elements together and changes the future.
To further this, note how intermission is a time out between two sections of a play. Loveless is a play with 5 entries, the compilation has 5 entries -- in order of release: Before Crisis, Advent Children, Dirge of Cerberus, Crisis Core, Remake trilogy. Remake trilogy is said to "not replace the original", so the original is still canon. Whatever happens in remake does not replace the original. There are retcons, yes. There are also altered events. Ff7 remake ultimania has a section on the edge of creation. There it says 7 seconds refers to the death of the planet. It also says that Sephiroth has time stopped "7 seconds from the end", from which he is altering the memories of the planet. He is altering the past by altering the planet's memories, activating the cries of the planet aka the whispers to defend those memories. However, as the enigmatic spectre, Sephiroth has control over some of those whispers. There seems to be 3 factions of whispers: the four, the three and the rest. The four are depicted around Sephiroth in promotional art. The four saved Zack. Rebirth's first trailer title uses the same animation as Genesis's limit break, and they re-released crisis core to make sure we know the story of Genesis and Minerva. Minerva is already featured twice in remake. She is in the mural that Aerith made and she is in the holographic video of the ancients (she is the woman making the materia). So we already know Minerva is in this story. She is the one in control of the Weapons and the planetary defenses; she is also in Dirge's multiplayer, manipulating Weiss's release. Genesis in the dirge ending has a red materia embedded in his chest, as does every Weapon, as does Minerva herself as she stands guard over the largest materia in the world. Ff7's new trilogy will not end the same way. It can't. It needs to encompass a war, it needs to have the old avalanche play it's role, it needs Genesis to be summoned, it needs to save Omega weapon or else the planet will die permanently, and it needs to call upon Chaos (Vincent) to consume the tainted Lifestream as Minerva and Jenova battle... Earth Gaia versus Alien Gaia. Hoshi's Lifestream versus the alien calamity's Lifestream. Light versus dark. Yellow-green versus purple-black. (Hoshi is the planet's name from the OG. It translates to Star. Note in the rebirth trailer Bugenhagen refers to The Planet as "Our Star".)
My big hope is that there are no chapter restrictions. Like once you’re in an open area, you can fast travel to previous areas and complete anything you have missed. I understand why remake did it, but a game like rebirth should not have these restrictions as the areas are too big. Just look at the xenoblade games. There are only two points of no return and some side quests get blocked off so late in the game.
I think your assessment is a really good one. One thing I'm hoping to see, though, is a similar start to the game as with MGSV, where the title menu is actually in-game. In Rebirth, it would be really cool if the menu came up and the logo + new game/continue/options is overlayed on top of the scene of Cloud, Sephiroth, and the troops in the back of the truck in the rain storm. You press New Game, and the scene begins right away. It sets an ominous tone for this game right from the jump. New players don't need to know it's a flashback, as they'll find out at the end, and then maybe there's an option for a recap scene for folks who are starting in Rebirth and didn't play Remake just before the party leaves Kalm. Or maybe Cloud goes to sleep in the inn and the recap is a dream sequence.
That would be pretty friggin cool! I think red will be a prominent color of Rebirth so I'm imagining a title screen with fire. Would be cool if it was Sephiroth standing in front of the fire and then when you select continue, he turns and walks through it. EPIC
This was a really fun video and it was great to hear everything you proposed. I'd love more hypothesis videos like these. In my opinion, you're kinda underplaying what they're trying to do. Think about it. While making Remake they thought they could fit in the REST of the WHOLE GAME in the next part, which means they already had pretty much everything planned. Stopping at the City of the Ancients makes no sense to me. I think the event at the City of the Ancients won't happen like in the OG game which is why we can continue to the northern crater. I believe the unified timeline theory is correct and that Zack and our party are in the same timeline during this game. Here's my proposal: Chapter 1: Flashback Chapter 2: Kalm + Chocobo Farm + Marshes (This is the chapter where you want to impress the player with the scope) Chapter 3: Mythril Mines Chapter 4: Junon (long chapter) Chapter 5: Inside the ship Chapter 6: Costa del Sol + Corel Reactor (Costa del Sol isn't large enough to justify a full chapter) Chapter 7: Gold Saucer (long chapter) Chapter 8: Corel Prison Chapter 9: Gongaga Chapter 10: Cosmo Canyon + Cave of the Gi Chapter 11: Nibelheim + Mansion Chapter 12: Nibel Mountain Chapter 13: Rocket Town Chapter 14: Wutai (there's a possibility of an extra chapter before this) Chapter 15: Obtaining the Keystone Chapter 16: Temple of the Ancients Chapter 17: Bone Village + Sleeping Forest Chapter 18: Corel Valley + City of the Ancients (Here Zack will come in and save Aerith from her "fate" but will disappear from the story causing huge troubles for Cloud) Chapter 19: Icicle Inn (Tons of Aerith story. She will see stuff about her mom and some fight against the turks or something at the end of the skateboarding minigame) Chapter 20: Great Glacier Chapter 21: Whirlwind Maze + Northern Crater All of this isn't counting any new chapters that might be added from compilation content. This is why I think this game is going to be around 60 hours in comparison to Remake's 30-40 hours and why they need 2 100GBs worth of content. Also, from a gameplay standpoint, it would make no sense to not keep a character until the end. Plus, thinking about the story, making Aertih's "thing" happen at the northern crater will make Cloud be extremely susceptible to Sephiroth and make it make more sense as to why he delivers to him the black materia. Also, there's the possibility that he might see the other Cloud turned into a robed guy which will further break Cloud's believability and mind stability. I assume Zack will appear at the end of this game. This will be the lowest point the story could reach and a huge build up towards this moment. This is also the perfect transition into making Zack the temporary protagonist while Cloud is K.O. in part 3. I hope you enjoy my own take. 👍

I think it's the same meaning as when Remake was advertised as on 2 discs. Its kind of a nod to the original being on multiple discs. But if the 2 discs means its going to be 2 full sized games and separate downloads or something wild like that, then I'd be inclined to agree that 18 chapters is not enough. But I think that with a gigantic world with various biomes that adds to the overall size of a game too. Regardless, I do hope you are right and I'm wrong about the amount of content!! Also, could you please provide me a link for when the devs said they thought they'd be able to fit the entire rest of the game in part 2? I don't remember that. Very interesting. Late viewer here. Great video as always, I love your work! I think it's much more likely that they wait with Wutai until the third game. So many great places to visit in Rebirth so they will probably save Wutai for that. We'll get a lot of other characters backstory already in Rebirth: First Sephiroth and the beginning of Clouds and Tifas backstory in the Flashback. After that Barrets backstory in Desert Prison/North Corel, then Red XIII in Cosmo Canyon, then Cid in Rocket Town, then Cait Sith whit the Black Materia and whit Aerith we'll get the temple of ancient, sleeping forest and the videotapes. Lastly I think they will end at Norther crater and there you'll see some more Cloud and Tifa backstory. There will probably be a lot about Zack too in Rebirth. The backstory saved for the last game is: Yuffie in Wutai, Vincent in the Waterfall etc, Cloud and Tifa with the Lifestream scenes and some Cid in space. It will be better spaced to have the Yuffie stuff here for me. That way more new areas will be in the third game too: Wutai, Junon Underwater Reactor, Sunken Gelnika, Ancient Forest, Lucrecia's Cave, Back to Midgar, Space and Norhtern Cave and that together with everything wich has changed in the world will be enough for it to feel fresh. I really hope they go all the way to the crater in Rebirth because that will be the most hypest endgame ever. EVERYTHING turns to shit in the end for the party and the last thing we'll see is Cloud being lost questioning everything, Zack being instead of Cloud, Sephiroth summoning Meteor and then Super Weapons rising from the Earth. And the third part opening with Tifa and Barret at Junon.
I never knew the original FF7, only like the most known things, like Aerith's fate or Cloud getting into a wheelchair and Tifa and Cloud's night together... But first time I played FF7R, man! It became one of the best games I have ever played and I care about it so much! I can't wait to play Rebirth, definetely buying it day one, and looking forward to what's gonna happen!!! To be honest, I have never been this hyped for a game, maybe Last of Us Part II, but I'm beyond excited, because all the amazing characters, story and music. I'm saving this video to my 'to watch' list, and I'll be back seeing if any of these points you made are in Rebirth the way you told it or not. Until then, I'm getting more and more excited about FF7 Rebirth!
I think the Northern crater ending is better. The sense of loss and betrayal and concern as to where is Cloud… a shit of towns people looking up at meteor as a final shot… a sense of doom and loss and you now have to wait 5 years till the end of the story. Plenty of time to process everything. I think they could go 22-24 chapters and fit the other items in but I like where your heads at in terms of pacing. I’m also curious if we get Typoon and Kujkta (sp). Lots to wonder about burnin the mean time… ff16 is about 70% done and then I have another play through of remake and inter grade so I have time. 😅😅😅
This is a great analysis and love the thought you've put into this. Makes a lot of sense and I agree largely. As some people have commented though I think we could go further on chapters due to size of the game. Chapters themselves also likely to be bigger/longer than Remake.
I totally agree with this logic. Ending in Northern Crater 1 would setup the third and final game nicely, such as finalising the unknown journey, parts without Cloud, Cloud regaining his sanity back, Ultima Weapon attacking Mideel, the return to Midgar, and of course the epic finale in Northern Crater 2.
The properganda thing of them been dead would help fix one huge plot that was added to the Remake where they are made public who they are and after no one recongnises them. If people assume they are dead then that should help for later parts in the story.
i only partially agree im sticking to the finale being sephiroths REBIRTH after cloud gives him the black materia. i think you are spacing out chapter WAAAAY too much personally.... you have to remember a lot of the game after midgar was very short in perspective to midgar in general. i believe the ending at the black materia being given to sephiroth would make the best sense.... the party is at their lowest cloud is missing and seemingly turns on the party the party is captured and sephiroth "wins" world ending etc. the reason i say this is because game 3 is all about the finding and recovery of cloud the rebuilding of his mind realization that the weapons are free, the midgar invasion battling the weapons back to cosmo canyon and all the extra exploration.....they could skip wutai in rebirth and leave it for the third game. then finally once everything is done a GIGANTIC adventure to the core of the earth to confront sephirtoh. i just think that is a much better way of splitting it up and for the game to have that level of loss right at the end makes it a much better story in my opinion. sure aerith was a sad part but far from the lowest the party goes in ff7 in my opinion.

And the 3rd games world map will be alot more gloomy and dark because of the weapons attacks throughout the world, in rebirth the world looks bright and warm and full of greenery, (think ff6 after kefka destroys the world) the last part of the game is about regrouping and finally confront the main villain

Love your enthusiasm every time you say “parallels” lol I think you are spot on with the rebirth timeline any more then ending on the will they/won’t they with Aerith will be too condensed and rushed, any less will leave a void after waiting almost 4 years for rebirth “they could have done more”… As for Zach, I think if he is playable it will be as a DLC similar to Yuffie, a 2-3 chapter story in between rebirth and the third instalment.

Good breakdown, seems fairly plausible. Although I bet they'll throw us some curveballs that no-one is expecting. My only worry about this game is that they won't put much work into making the towns interesting because they will be so focused on the massive story. I want to have that time just chilling and exploring Kalm.

Awesome take on those parallels. I have been thinking about those since my first remake playthrough. I first started to think about it in the kids hideout, with the Gold saucer theme, and it makes a lot of sense
You can't have Great Glacier->Great Glacier be the beginning of a game. That wouldn't work within any kind of narrative. That's climax material. My guess is they are going to end there, they'll move the *finality* of Aerith's death to that part to create an illusion of hope, but it will be revealed that she was actually killed in City of the Ancients, and 'Aerith' will be in the party right up until the end. Final Boss will be Jenova and like 5 Sephiroths to mirror the Kingdom Hearts factor of the ending of the first game.
I personally think this will go all the way to the Northern Crater when you meet the real Sephiroth. That is the true 1/2 way intermission IMO and the biggest “loss” to deal with, compounded shortly after Aerith’s fate…as FF7 is heavily themed around dealing w loss. With 2 discs on PS5, I think it’ll be 21 chapters: 1. Nibelheim flashback 2. Leaving Kalm, chocobo farm/midgar Zolom dodging 3. Mythril Mine 4. Ft. Condor / meeting Yuffie / Bottom of Junon 5. Junon / Cargo Ship 6. Costa Del Sol / Mt Corel / town of Corel 7. Golden saucer 1st visit / Corel Prison 8. Gongaga 1st visit / Cosmo Canyon 9. Cave of the Gi / trek to Nibelheim 10. Nibelheim / shinra mansion 11. Mt Nibel 12. Rocket Town / trek to Wutai 13. Wutai 14. Temple of ancients / 2nd trip to Gold Saucer / Date / trek back to Temple of ancients 15. Temple of Ancients 16. So if the game is still Chapter structured I'm on board with this. But personally I think Rebirth just won't have "chapters." Remake had chapters because it was linear with no exploration, so the chapter system was their way of letting us "fast travel" to stuff we missed. I think Rebirth is just going to let us fast travel like a regular RPG. And because nothing too world changing happens yet I think there won't be any missable side quests that would warrant chapters either. Junon's upper city could be, but I think that part and the cargo ship will be entirely story segments with no sidequests, and the undercity will be the actual town hub.
If I had to guess, I'd say the game will end at a Northern Crater disaster. I thought the OG story was in three parts. Midgar, the first world journey that was more on foot, and the second world journey when you could travel anywhere with the airship. Some people think that might be too long, but as long as a story is engaging, a long journey can be even more fun, like GoW Ragnarök or FFXVI. If I were making a specific guess, I think Rebirth will end with a scene in Midgar when Marlene finds Denzel, mirroring that flashback that Tifa had after the crater in OG meeting Cloud off the train when the false persona snapped into place.
ı think game will be end in northern creator as creators said this is empire strikes back of the ff7 universe so remember the ending of empire strikes back we learned that vader is father of luke skywalker and Han solo prisoned in carbonite and in the ending party was splite into two lando,chewbaca and r2d2 returns to search for han solo and luke with leia is preparing for final battle so i say in technical way we saw the plot twist and with this plot twist character development is in top point and in the final movie we don't see any dramatic character development,for ff7 rebirth in the ending the plot twist for new players is cloud's missing and for old players maybe zack's return and aerith's survival,for the final scence og ff7 main theme starts playing we see tifa,aerith and maybe barret looking to horizon in the highwind then we see cloud in mideal as mako poisoned and finaly we see tifa again and all 4 weapons fly near highwind tifa says final words and boom this journey will continiu,that's my theory
I haven't finished the video but like I wanna say this is a really well thought out video and I love the parallels you bring up this far, although I do question how they will change story beats like they did with remake
Enjoyed the video a lot, some of the comparisons feel a little generous to make it fit this 18 chapters restriction/make things line up like saying that chapter 5 is just the Cargo Ship or bringing up Roche and assuming he'll show up in Junon just because chapter 4 of Remake had Roche (though it's certainly possible). Chapter 8 of Remake starting with Cloud falling into the church/chapter 8 of Rebirth starting with Cloud falling into Corel Prison and the whole Wall Market/Gold Saucer chapter 9 and 14 comparisons fit extremely well though, that's for sure. Us going from Gold Saucer to Gongaga to Cosmo Canyon all in chapter 9 is kinda hard to believe though. Even though chapter 9 of Remake was a very beefy chapter, it still just took place inside Wall Market. Cosmo Canyon and the Gi Cave being its own chapter together makes more sense to me, but then you lose the chapter 10 of Remake parallel in regards to the Cosmo Canyon part. My opinion on all of this is that, as you mentioned in the beginning, I'm not even sure Rebirth will be chapter based to begin with, let alone 18. The original FFVII goes from linear ---> wide linear ---> "open world" and FF7R as a trilogy is perfect for that with Remake being linear, Rebirth being wide-linear and the third game probably being "open world" with the Highwind's inclusion. This jump from linear to wide-linear between Remake and Rebirth might cause chapters to not be a thing now, but we'll see. More importantly though, we have to remember that Kitase specifically said the order you visit locations in Rebirth will be different than the original at some points, so predicting chapters based on the same exact order as the original FFVII is gonna end up with us going "oh we're going here already, nevermind then" or "wait are we not going to X place?" a bunch. It's fun doing it anyway though and that's why I watch these kind of videos. Personally I still think pretty firmly that however it gets rearranged, we're ending at the Reunion for narrative purposes (they also hint at it by showing it again in the latest trailer) but that's just my feelings on the topic for the last 3 years. This rearranging that Kitase mentions could pave the way for that ending point. Even if your (or my) 1 to 1 comparisons end up being wrong though, I still see them adopting a similar storytelling structure as Remake so you probably wouldn't be far off, especially regarding chapter 1, 9 and 14.
You make great points! Yeah, for some chapters I conveniently made fit. I really wanted Chapter 14 to be the world exploration and Gold Saucer Date. A whole chapter dedicated to Rocket Town was definitely an iffy one too. I do truly believe that Roche just fits in so well at the Junon Parade. He would likely be on duty for the new president's inauguration. The goofiness of the sequence matches up with Roche's personality and it could be a good opportunity to expand the original's story by having the party needing some assistance in going undercover and boarding the cargo ship. I'd agree but *if* the forgotten capital plays out how it does in the original, I just think Yuffie would be attached to the party and empathetic towards them. It would be awkward for her to want to steal their stuff knowing what they've been through and what the overall threat is to the planet. Also, my prediction in this video still leaves the rest of the Northern Continent including Modeoheim in the third game (snowy biome), Underwater (Submarine), Mideel and Banora (Island biome), and the skies (Highwind)
@@FinalFanTVI’m thinking the stealing part will be reworked into the start of Rebirth (while they in the kalm inn), that way they can give a nod to the original while also have a good story reason to restart our equipment after Remake. I also have a feeling Wutai will be saved for the third game but will be greatly expanded with the whole greater Avalanche story. I believe Rebirth will end in the north crater and that’s a lot of content, so some stuff will have to be cut (they already said some stuff will move around, order wise) and wutai being an optional Area in the OG make sense to me. And lastly, I think puppet cloud being the last boss could be a nice twist.
Great theory! Seeing video clips of the games throughout the video really adds a lot for me. I agree, they've got to give us the dolphin scene. They came through on Hell House and Honey Bee Inn, so I'd imagine the devs know we want all the goofiness. Also can't wait to see Barrett and Nanaki in their sailor suits lol.

Considering that in the trailer we see the party in cosmo canon tells me we get a full world map, not to mention this is a ps5 game that needs 2 disc's to download, how many GB will this be? So im thinking in rebirth we get to explore the whole world in all its glory, massive fields of green scenery and mountains in the distance ect, so it might end when cloud leaves the party after he (spoiler) the black materia (spoiler) and the 3rd game starts when we play as tifa in junon where the world is in ruins from the weapon attacks and the meteor is in the sky, i can see the 3rd games world map looking more gloomy
As the day to Rebirth's release gets closer, anyone who wants to be sure to not see spoilers will want to stay away from CZcams. A few of the huge FF7R streamers love to put spoilers in their thumbnails and titles. Even if you get the game on its Day 1 release, you risk being spoiled by people who got their physical copy early (whether that be through early shipping or the content reviewer's early release copies). When FF7 Remake came out, people had full Platinum trophies already a month prior to its public release. A few of the streamers started making videos that seemed like they had insider knowledge and it turns out they did. You look at their videos 2 weeks prior to public release and their "theory" videos turned out to be damn near identical to the game. Then if you check their PSN user board you can see they had trophies popping up 3-4 weeks before. They had early access copies. I did not use social media or the internet for the first 2 days of Remake's release while I finished the main story and I'm glad I did. So many of my friends got spoiled by thumbnails and random ads.

I'm so glad I did. As you said, spoilers were everywhere and even those who would consider the thumbnail or title to be ambiguous, I still consider it a spoiler. Seems like we are on the same page about this. If by some crazy chance, I am able to get an early review code for Rebirth, my content will stop until the review is complete or I'll avoid theory talk altogether (I stopped theorycrafting for XVI months before it launched because there's just a point that I want to be open for what they give me rather than try and correctly predict or gain clout from it) So, hopefully, you can trust that FFTV will not spoil Rebirth or any new FF game prior to launch and will give a respectable grace period before even thinking of putting a spoiler in a thumbnail. But it is still a very good idea to remove all socials during the launch of a game
Very good theory and pacing but I do believe they will end at the northern crater, you followed FF7R which makes sense but remember this is a 2 disc game. Is it twice as long? Idk but fitting in 3-4 more sections to get us to there and the true empire ending seems very possible with 2 discs.
I agree with a lot of this-- but I don't think we're going to Wutai in Rebirth. One reason is because of how Intermission set up Wutai's importance as well as the implication of reigniting war, and the fact that the devs said we wouldn't be seeing Wutai for a very long time. But other than that, everything matches almost too well. They also said we'd be visiting places out of order, so likely it won't be following OG as we know it. Also, I don't think Aerith will die in Rebirth, or at least not in the same place. I think we'll think she has been spared till part 3. But it's very fun speculating in these vids.

I love how you've managed to link up the potential of Rebirth to Remake and it looks good to me! I tried to plot it all out after I finished Remake but I felt like it would end at Nibelheim at best with a faithful and full retelling. But I think you're close with this. I've been completely against the idea of the end point being North Crater since the beginning. Implying Cloud is dead or no longer in the party makes it hard to market the final part in terms of trailers, in my opinion. But yeah, I think Mr Dolphin will be in Rebirth for sure. Might not be the same scenario but he has to be there. Excellent predictions, bro.
Motomu Toriyama said wutai will not be in Rebirth. Because Wutai is very far from midgar according to him. In the original game, the wutai is a side quest it can be done also on cd 2 or 3. Wutai will be a big part of the third part, if they add all avalanche factions and characters hidden there from the compilation. They possibly help the group for the final operation in midgar. It could make the scene epic.
@@FinalFanTV In the IGN article from July 2021 "Final Fantasy 7 Remake: Square Enix On Making the Yuffie DLC And Tantalizing Hints About Part 2" The development team can only offer hints about what's to come in Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2, but they do make for some tantalizing tidbits. Among other things, Toriyama says that it will "probably be a while until Wutai is showcased in earnest" owing to its distance from Midgar, but that "perhaps there may be a new aspect to things depicted along the way." I take this to mean that Wutai probably won't be in Rebirth but they'll be story related aspects to Wutai (especially since Yuffie joins the party).

For the sake of making my idea presented in this video work, perhaps when the Tiny Bronco crashes nearby Wutai, maybe it's Fort Tamblin where Yuffie steals the materia and then later on we go to Wutai in Part 3 for the padoga challenge and Don Corneo stuff. But yeah, "a while" could be interpreted as when Rebirth comes out and not in the Intermission DLC. Or as you suggest, not to be expected in Rebirth. You could be right! There's a few things I went in more depth about but edited out for the sake of this video being under 30mins. Sorry bout that. What did you feel got cut too short? The comparison was that Cloud would have to win the approval of Dio in Gold Saucer just as Cloud had to win the approval of the Trio in Wall Market. The cut part went on to talk about how Dio has a Battle Arena while The Trio had Corneo Coliseum. Cloud needs to win a chocobo race in Rebirth, Chocobo Sam has chocobos. Stuff like that.

Honestly, I can't wait to see how Zack's Midgar section plays out. The merc, I mean Cloud, has made quite a name for himself around town lugging around that buster sword so when Zack hears about someone carrying the same sort of sword, he's gonna wonder who exactly. Angeal? It'll be equally eerie, as a player that finished Remake, if something like that DOESN'T happen. And then there's the character interactions we might see, where Turks wonder exactly what is going on with the Cloud tagging along with Zack.
nice compilation of chapter predictions though the developers explicitly said the events won't necessarily proceed in the same order as OG. many of the parallels are a bit of a stretch.

@FinalFanTV Yeah, unless Rebirth ends after the Nebelheim part, and we won't see Cid till the next game. And since Vincent won't have enough time to be in the game, they save him for DLC. If it goes beyond Nebelheim, then yes, I can see them adding Vincent and Cid in the game normally.
I’m almost 100% sure it’ll end at the northern crater. Assuming they’re going with Cloud’s memory being inaccurate, they’ll have to bring closure to that. When you’re telling a story you can’t leave that loose end untied. So beginning with Cloud’s flashback story and ending with the truth exposed. Maybe causing Cloud’s break and giving the black material to Sephiroth. Kind of like an Empire Strikes Back ending. Imagine the intense beginning part 3 will be with Tifa and co. escaping Junon.
Oh yeah, I agree - I think the overall mystery of FF7R is no longer Cloud's recollection of the past but rather involving Zack. Players already know especially with Reunion releasing just last year. So I do think the flashback will be riddled with memories of Zack and Cloud realizing he's not telling the right story as he tells the story. It will be interesting for sure.
I like the idea of ending at Northern Crater. Not opposed to that, I just didn't find it likely when fitting in the parameters of 18 Chapters and the parallels I was drawing in this video but again, it doesn't have to be 18 Chapters and it doesn't have to parallel haha I personally think if Aerith lives, it would be a bad ending to end at Forgotten Capital and would rather it end at Northen Crater.

I like this, but I think Tifa will be killed at the crater, by Sephiroth or possibly Cloud himself in one of his persona freak outs. But I think it will be Denzel who brings back Cloud's true self, bringing him fading but lingering memories of Advent Children and after, and in turn flash images of Cloud and Tifa's night under the Highwind near the end of OG. I think would show Cloud's overall growth as a human if parental feelings for Denzel is what brings him back this time instead of romantic feelings for Tifa. As for Junon, I'd love to see Yuffie beat the crap out of Scarlet during an escape. I don't know what will become of Aerith, but I do not think she or Zack will be alive by the story's conclusion, nor would it be as good if they were. The Lifestream will move on, as would Cloud after an even more terrible loss. But I'll admit if there's one thing I want it's for Sephiroth to go for the hurt as much a kill :)

I want Tifa helping to tell the story of Nibelhiem. Throwing in some moments of Tifa being confused by Cloud, but not saying anything directly. But she needs to be telling everyone herself how she went after Sephiroth, lost her family, got mortally wounded. Her emotions would help to sell the story.

I think the only disagreement I have is not ending it at the crater. In the context of the og, going from the capital to the crater is actually pretty quick, so yes they would need to add more to the game, but if they really add as much to Rebirth as we think, then it really is only 5% further they'd need to go. For a long time I wanted it to end at the capital because we don't know what is gonna happen, so whatever event happens would be very important. I still think it may be the best point to end this game, but the issue that ultimately comes is Part 3. For storytelling, it makes no sense to begin Part 3 with the characters feeling low, and 1-2 hours in have Cloud leave the party, everything going to hell, and having the party at their lowest. It is too messy and doesn't make sense from a (trilogy) storytelling perspective.
If I am guessing, you go through the icicle inn/glacier area after the Bone Village, and then the devs will put the forgotten capital literally right near the crater. At least for lore, it makes sense.
One thing that was always suspicious about Cloud newrly killing Johnny and Reno. For both of them, Cloud never has the inclination to murder either one. It seems like something Cloud might do without Zack's influence. And for both, the green in his eyes expanded and started to overtake the blue; like the high concentration of Jenova cells overtaking the blue mako.
Also funny, Roche is the only soldier ever depicted with a biker's jacket and is a second class soldier. If you read The Kids Are Alright, Ard is visited by a Soldier 2nd class in a biker's jacket, who cant speak because his geostigma is too far along, and soon dies. If this was indeed Roche, then he has a friend in Soldier with the last name Ard, whom works in rebuilt Nibelheim.

@@carljohnson5710 The second theory falls under the fact that a remake was never promised. They kept saying they didn't want to redo the same thing because it would never have the same effect. They did however promise to finish the story, they promised a 5th entry to the compilation. 2015's announcement trailer states the promise has been made. As the 5th entry into the series, the 5th entry into loveless with crisis core being the 4th... Genesis, read the 5th page to the poem written by the Lifestream after Zack left Genesis behind for Weiss and Nero to pick up: "although there are no promises on the morrow, nothing shall forestall my return." He then gave us a list of things to look for. Rain, dew, etc.
In the 2015 trailer, not only does it seem the narrator is specifically replying to Genesis, the trailer has images of rain, and an image of the feather and the flower, with a puddle of water between them and both have dew (water drops/moisture) moving on them. The things Genesis said to look out for. If in the speech from both crisis core by Genesis or the narrator in the 2015 trailer you replace the word promise with "sequel" or "final entry" or the next game.. and you have Genesis saying the final game in the compilation isnt yet made but nothing will stop it from coming...and the 2015 trailer saying that the reunion -- the reuniting with thr compilation may bring joy, may bring confusion, sadness, or even anger, but embrace it, for it is finally being made. What's more, there's no rain in ff7 remake. There's no dew, either. These effects were exclusively created for the trailer and never touched again.
The interviews and ultimania for Advent, dirge, and crisis core talk about a plan for 5 entries in the series, with the 5th "becoming an epic conclusion to the story". In order to conclude it, well, it needs to tie in everything and finish in a way that brings all the elements together and changes the future.
To further this, note how intermission is a time out between two sections of a play. Loveless is a play with 5 entries, the compilation has 5 entries -- in order of release: Before Crisis, Advent Children, Dirge of Cerberus, Crisis Core, Remake trilogy.
Remake trilogy is said to "not replace the original", so the original is still canon. Whatever happens in remake does not replace the original.
There are retcons, yes. There are also altered events.
Ff7 remake ultimania has a section on the edge of creation. There it says 7 seconds refers to the death of the planet. It also says that Sephiroth has time stopped "7 seconds from the end", from which he is altering the memories of the planet. He is altering the past by altering the planet's memories, activating the cries of the planet aka the whispers to defend those memories. However, as the enigmatic spectre, Sephiroth has control over some of those whispers. There seems to be 3 factions of whispers: the four, the three and the rest. The four are depicted around Sephiroth in promotional art. The four saved Zack.
Rebirth's first trailer title uses the same animation as Genesis's limit break, and they re-released crisis core to make sure we know the story of Genesis and Minerva.
Minerva is already featured twice in remake. She is in the mural that Aerith made and she is in the holographic video of the ancients (she is the woman making the materia). So we already know Minerva is in this story. She is the one in control of the Weapons and the planetary defenses; she is also in Dirge's multiplayer, manipulating Weiss's release. Genesis in the dirge ending has a red materia embedded in his chest, as does every Weapon, as does Minerva herself as she stands guard over the largest materia in the world.
Ff7's new trilogy will not end the same way. It can't. It needs to encompass a war, it needs to have the old avalanche play it's role, it needs Genesis to be summoned, it needs to save Omega weapon or else the planet will die permanently, and it needs to call upon Chaos (Vincent) to consume the tainted Lifestream as Minerva and Jenova battle... Earth Gaia versus Alien Gaia. Hoshi's Lifestream versus the alien calamity's Lifestream. Light versus dark. Yellow-green versus purple-black.
(Hoshi is the planet's name from the OG. It translates to Star. Note in the rebirth trailer Bugenhagen refers to The Planet as "Our Star".)
My big hope is that there are no chapter restrictions. Like once you’re in an open area, you can fast travel to previous areas and complete anything you have missed. I understand why remake did it, but a game like rebirth should not have these restrictions as the areas are too big. Just look at the xenoblade games. There are only two points of no return and some side quests get blocked off so late in the game.
I think your assessment is a really good one. One thing I'm hoping to see, though, is a similar start to the game as with MGSV, where the title menu is actually in-game. In Rebirth, it would be really cool if the menu came up and the logo + new game/continue/options is overlayed on top of the scene of Cloud, Sephiroth, and the troops in the back of the truck in the rain storm. You press New Game, and the scene begins right away. It sets an ominous tone for this game right from the jump. New players don't need to know it's a flashback, as they'll find out at the end, and then maybe there's an option for a recap scene for folks who are starting in Rebirth and didn't play Remake just before the party leaves Kalm. Or maybe Cloud goes to sleep in the inn and the recap is a dream sequence.
That would be pretty friggin cool!
I think red will be a prominent color of Rebirth so I'm imagining a title screen with fire. Would be cool if it was Sephiroth standing in front of the fire and then when you select continue, he turns and walks through it. EPIC

In my opinion, you're kinda underplaying what they're trying to do. Think about it. While making Remake they thought they could fit in the REST of the WHOLE GAME in the next part, which means they already had pretty much everything planned. Stopping at the City of the Ancients makes no sense to me. I think the event at the City of the Ancients won't happen like in the OG game which is why we can continue to the northern crater.
I believe the unified timeline theory is correct and that Zack and our party are in the same timeline during this game. Here's my proposal:
Chapter 1: Flashback
Chapter 2: Kalm + Chocobo Farm + Marshes (This is the chapter where you want to impress the player with the scope)
Chapter 3: Mythril Mines
Chapter 4: Junon (long chapter)
Chapter 5: Inside the ship

Chapter 7: Gold Saucer (long chapter)

Chapter 9: Gongaga
Chapter 10: Cosmo Canyon + Cave of the Gi
Chapter 11: Nibelheim + Mansion
Chapter 12: Nibel Mountain
Chapter 13: Rocket Town
Chapter 14: Wutai (there's a possibility of an extra chapter before this)
Chapter 15: Obtaining the Keystone
Chapter 16: Temple of the Ancients
Chapter 17: Bone Village + Sleeping Forest
Chapter 18: Corel Valley + City of the Ancients (Here Zack will come in and save Aerith from her "fate" but will disappear from the story causing huge troubles for Cloud)
Chapter 19: Icicle Inn (Tons of Aerith story. She will see stuff about her mom and some fight against the turks or something at the end of the skateboarding minigame)
Chapter 20: Great Glacier
Chapter 21: Whirlwind Maze + Northern Crater
All of this isn't counting any new chapters that might be added from compilation content. This is why I think this game is going to be around 60 hours in comparison to Remake's 30-40 hours and why they need 2 100GBs worth of content. Also, from a gameplay standpoint, it would make no sense to not keep a character until the end.
Plus, thinking about the story, making Aertih's "thing" happen at the northern crater will make Cloud be extremely susceptible to Sephiroth and make it make more sense as to why he delivers to him the black materia. Also, there's the possibility that he might see the other Cloud turned into a robed guy which will further break Cloud's believability and mind stability. I assume Zack will appear at the end of this game.
This will be the lowest point the story could reach and a huge build up towards this moment. This is also the perfect transition into making Zack the temporary protagonist while Cloud is K.O. in part 3.

Really enjoyed your take! Thank you for sharing! I've been very curious as to what exactly "2 discs" means in the marketing on Rebirth. I think it's the same meaning as when Remake was advertised as on 2 discs. Its kind of a nod to the original being on multiple discs. But if the 2 discs means its going to be 2 full sized games and separate downloads or something wild like that, then I'd be inclined to agree that 18 chapters is not enough. But I think that with a gigantic world with various biomes that adds to the overall size of a game too. Regardless, I do hope you are right and I'm wrong about the amount of content!!
Also, could you please provide me a link for when the devs said they thought they'd be able to fit the entire rest of the game in part 2? I don't remember that. Very interesting.

I think it's much more likely that they wait with Wutai until the third game. So many great places to visit in Rebirth so they will probably save Wutai for that.
We'll get a lot of other characters backstory already in Rebirth: First Sephiroth and the beginning of Clouds and Tifas backstory in the Flashback. After that Barrets backstory in Desert Prison/North Corel, then Red XIII in Cosmo Canyon, then Cid in Rocket Town, then Cait Sith whit the Black Materia and whit Aerith we'll get the temple of ancient, sleeping forest and the videotapes. Lastly I think they will end at Norther crater and there you'll see some more Cloud and Tifa backstory. There will probably be a lot about Zack too in Rebirth.
The backstory saved for the last game is: Yuffie in Wutai, Vincent in the Waterfall etc, Cloud and Tifa with the Lifestream scenes and some Cid in space. It will be better spaced to have the Yuffie stuff here for me. That way more new areas will be in the third game too: Wutai, Junon Underwater Reactor, Sunken Gelnika, Ancient Forest, Lucrecia's Cave, Back to Midgar, Space and Norhtern Cave and that together with everything wich has changed in the world will be enough for it to feel fresh.
I really hope they go all the way to the crater in Rebirth because that will be the most hypest endgame ever. EVERYTHING turns to shit in the end for the party and the last thing we'll see is Cloud being lost questioning everything, Zack being instead of Cloud, Sephiroth summoning Meteor and then Super Weapons rising from the Earth. And the third part opening with Tifa and Barret at Junon.
I never knew the original FF7, only like the most known things, like Aerith's fate or Cloud getting into a wheelchair and Tifa and Cloud's night together...
But first time I played FF7R, man! It became one of the best games I have ever played and I care about it so much! I can't wait to play Rebirth, definetely buying it day one, and looking forward to what's gonna happen!!!

I'm saving this video to my 'to watch' list, and I'll be back seeing if any of these points you made are in Rebirth the way you told it or not. Until then, I'm getting more and more excited about FF7 Rebirth!
I think the Northern crater ending is better. The sense of loss and betrayal and concern as to where is Cloud… a shit of towns people looking up at meteor as a final shot… a sense of doom and loss and you now have to wait 5 years till the end of the story. Plenty of time to process everything. I think they could go 22-24 chapters and fit the other items in but I like where your heads at in terms of pacing. I’m also curious if we get Typoon and Kujkta (sp). Lots to wonder about burnin the mean time… ff16 is about 70% done and then I have another play through of remake and inter grade so I have time. 😅😅😅

This is a great analysis and love the thought you've put into this. Makes a lot of sense and I agree largely. As some people have commented though I think we could go further on chapters due to size of the game. Chapters themselves also likely to be bigger/longer than Remake.
I totally agree with this logic. Ending in Northern Crater 1 would setup the third and final game nicely, such as finalising the unknown journey, parts without Cloud, Cloud regaining his sanity back, Ultima Weapon attacking Mideel, the return to Midgar, and of course the epic finale in Northern Crater 2.
The properganda thing of them been dead would help fix one huge plot that was added to the Remake where they are made public who they are and after no one recongnises them. If people assume they are dead then that should help for later parts in the story.
i only partially agree im sticking to the finale being sephiroths REBIRTH after cloud gives him the black materia. i think you are spacing out chapter WAAAAY too much personally.... you have to remember a lot of the game after midgar was very short in perspective to midgar in general.
i believe the ending at the black materia being given to sephiroth would make the best sense.... the party is at their lowest cloud is missing and seemingly turns on the party the party is captured and sephiroth "wins" world ending etc. the reason i say this is because game 3 is all about the finding and recovery of cloud the rebuilding of his mind realization that the weapons are free, the midgar invasion battling the weapons back to cosmo canyon and all the extra exploration.....they could skip wutai in rebirth and leave it for the third game. then finally once everything is done a GIGANTIC adventure to the core of the earth to confront sephirtoh.
i just think that is a much better way of splitting it up and for the game to have that level of loss right at the end makes it a much better story in my opinion. sure aerith was a sad part but far from the lowest the party goes in ff7 in my opinion.

And the 3rd games world map will be alot more gloomy and dark because of the weapons attacks throughout the world, in rebirth the world looks bright and warm and full of greenery, (think ff6 after kefka destroys the world) the last part of the game is about regrouping and finally confront the main villain

I think you are spot on with the rebirth timeline any more then ending on the will they/won’t they with Aerith will be too condensed and rushed, any less will leave a void after waiting almost 4 years for rebirth “they could have done more”…
As for Zach, I think if he is playable it will be as a DLC similar to Yuffie, a 2-3 chapter story in between rebirth and the third instalment.

Good breakdown, seems fairly plausible. Although I bet they'll throw us some curveballs that no-one is expecting.
My only worry about this game is that they won't put much work into making the towns interesting because they will be so focused on the massive story. I want to have that time just chilling and exploring Kalm.

I agree. I'd love some downtime in some of these towns but make the sidequests interesting and exciting to do - That's just something Final Fantasy needs to improve overall.
Awesome take on those parallels. I have been thinking about those since my first remake playthrough. I first started to think about it in the kids hideout, with the Gold saucer theme, and it makes a lot of sense
You can't have Great Glacier->Great Glacier be the beginning of a game. That wouldn't work within any kind of narrative. That's climax material.
My guess is they are going to end there, they'll move the *finality* of Aerith's death to that part to create an illusion of hope, but it will be revealed that she was actually killed in City of the Ancients, and 'Aerith' will be in the party right up until the end. Final Boss will be Jenova and like 5 Sephiroths to mirror the Kingdom Hearts factor of the ending of the first game.
I personally think this will go all the way to the Northern Crater when you meet the real Sephiroth. That is the true 1/2 way intermission IMO and the biggest “loss” to deal with, compounded shortly after Aerith’s fate…as FF7 is heavily themed around dealing w loss.
With 2 discs on PS5, I think it’ll be 21 chapters:

I also believe that, whatever they have as the DLC, the post credit scene will be Barret/Tifa in the execution scene and Meteor approaching the planet as the big cliffhanger. That’s how they’ll leave us leading into the 3rd and final part of the trilogy.

I think Mr. Dolphin will be implemented in a way where cloud must submerge to a very low level underwater to get inside the tower to climb.
I just got Ecco The Dolphin vibes haha Cool idea, though! May even be a precursor gameplay segment getting you used to the mechanics of underwater traversal AKA Submarine! :)

So if the game is still Chapter structured I'm on board with this.
But personally I think Rebirth just won't have "chapters."
Remake had chapters because it was linear with no exploration, so the chapter system was their way of letting us "fast travel" to stuff we missed. I think Rebirth is just going to let us fast travel like a regular RPG. And because nothing too world changing happens yet I think there won't be any missable side quests that would warrant chapters either.
Junon's upper city could be, but I think that part and the cargo ship will be entirely story segments with no sidequests, and the undercity will be the actual town hub.
If I had to guess, I'd say the game will end at a Northern Crater disaster. I thought the OG story was in three parts. Midgar, the first world journey that was more on foot, and the second world journey when you could travel anywhere with the airship. Some people think that might be too long, but as long as a story is engaging, a long journey can be even more fun, like GoW Ragnarök or FFXVI. If I were making a specific guess, I think Rebirth will end with a scene in Midgar when Marlene finds Denzel, mirroring that flashback that Tifa had after the crater in OG meeting Cloud off the train when the false persona snapped into place.

ı think game will be end in northern creator as creators said this is empire strikes back of the ff7 universe so remember the ending of empire strikes back we learned that vader is father of luke skywalker and Han solo prisoned in carbonite and in the ending party was splite into two lando,chewbaca and r2d2 returns to search for han solo and luke with leia is preparing for final battle so i say in technical way we saw the plot twist and with this plot twist character development is in top point and in the final movie we don't see any dramatic character development,for ff7 rebirth in the ending the plot twist for new players is cloud's missing and for old players maybe zack's return and aerith's survival,for the final scence og ff7 main theme starts playing we see tifa,aerith and maybe barret looking to horizon in the highwind then we see cloud in mideal as mako poisoned and finaly we see tifa again and all 4 weapons fly near highwind tifa says final words and boom this journey will continiu,that's my theory
I haven't finished the video but like I wanna say this is a really well thought out video and I love the parallels you bring up this far, although I do question how they will change story beats like they did with remake

Enjoyed the video a lot, some of the comparisons feel a little generous to make it fit this 18 chapters restriction/make things line up like saying that chapter 5 is just the Cargo Ship or bringing up Roche and assuming he'll show up in Junon just because chapter 4 of Remake had Roche (though it's certainly possible). Chapter 8 of Remake starting with Cloud falling into the church/chapter 8 of Rebirth starting with Cloud falling into Corel Prison and the whole Wall Market/Gold Saucer chapter 9 and 14 comparisons fit extremely well though, that's for sure. Us going from Gold Saucer to Gongaga to Cosmo Canyon all in chapter 9 is kinda hard to believe though. Even though chapter 9 of Remake was a very beefy chapter, it still just took place inside Wall Market. Cosmo Canyon and the Gi Cave being its own chapter together makes more sense to me, but then you lose the chapter 10 of Remake parallel in regards to the Cosmo Canyon part.
My opinion on all of this is that, as you mentioned in the beginning, I'm not even sure Rebirth will be chapter based to begin with, let alone 18. The original FFVII goes from linear ---> wide linear ---> "open world" and FF7R as a trilogy is perfect for that with Remake being linear, Rebirth being wide-linear and the third game probably being "open world" with the Highwind's inclusion. This jump from linear to wide-linear between Remake and Rebirth might cause chapters to not be a thing now, but we'll see.
More importantly though, we have to remember that Kitase specifically said the order you visit locations in Rebirth will be different than the original at some points, so predicting chapters based on the same exact order as the original FFVII is gonna end up with us going "oh we're going here already, nevermind then" or "wait are we not going to X place?" a bunch. It's fun doing it anyway though and that's why I watch these kind of videos. Personally I still think pretty firmly that however it gets rearranged, we're ending at the Reunion for narrative purposes (they also hint at it by showing it again in the latest trailer) but that's just my feelings on the topic for the last 3 years. This rearranging that Kitase mentions could pave the way for that ending point. Even if your (or my) 1 to 1 comparisons end up being wrong though, I still see them adopting a similar storytelling structure as Remake so you probably wouldn't be far off, especially regarding chapter 1, 9 and 14.
You make great points! Yeah, for some chapters I conveniently made fit. I really wanted Chapter 14 to be the world exploration and Gold Saucer Date. A whole chapter dedicated to Rocket Town was definitely an iffy one too. I do truly believe that Roche just fits in so well at the Junon Parade. He would likely be on duty for the new president's inauguration. The goofiness of the sequence matches up with Roche's personality and it could be a good opportunity to expand the original's story by having the party needing some assistance in going undercover and boarding the cargo ship.

I'd agree but *if* the forgotten capital plays out how it does in the original, I just think Yuffie would be attached to the party and empathetic towards them. It would be awkward for her to want to steal their stuff knowing what they've been through and what the overall threat is to the planet. Also, my prediction in this video still leaves the rest of the Northern Continent including Modeoheim in the third game (snowy biome), Underwater (Submarine), Mideel and Banora (Island biome), and the skies (Highwind)
@@FinalFanTVI’m thinking the stealing part will be reworked into the start of Rebirth (while they in the kalm inn), that way they can give a nod to the original while also have a good story reason to restart our equipment after Remake. I also have a feeling Wutai will be saved for the third game but will be greatly expanded with the whole greater Avalanche story. I believe Rebirth will end in the north crater and that’s a lot of content, so some stuff will have to be cut (they already said some stuff will move around, order wise) and wutai being an optional Area in the OG make sense to me. And lastly, I think puppet cloud being the last boss could be a nice twist.

I agree, they've got to give us the dolphin scene. They came through on Hell House and Honey Bee Inn, so I'd imagine the devs know we want all the goofiness. Also can't wait to see Barrett and Nanaki in their sailor suits lol.

Considering that in the trailer we see the party in cosmo canon tells me we get a full world map, not to mention this is a ps5 game that needs 2 disc's to download, how many GB will this be? So im thinking in rebirth we get to explore the whole world in all its glory, massive fields of green scenery and mountains in the distance ect, so it might end when cloud leaves the party after he (spoiler) the black materia (spoiler) and the 3rd game starts when we play as tifa in junon where the world is in ruins from the weapon attacks and the meteor is in the sky, i can see the 3rd games world map looking more gloomy
As the day to Rebirth's release gets closer, anyone who wants to be sure to not see spoilers will want to stay away from CZcams. A few of the huge FF7R streamers love to put spoilers in their thumbnails and titles. Even if you get the game on its Day 1 release, you risk being spoiled by people who got their physical copy early (whether that be through early shipping or the content reviewer's early release copies). When FF7 Remake came out, people had full Platinum trophies already a month prior to its public release. A few of the streamers started making videos that seemed like they had insider knowledge and it turns out they did. You look at their videos 2 weeks prior to public release and their "theory" videos turned out to be damn near identical to the game. Then if you check their PSN user board you can see they had trophies popping up 3-4 weeks before. They had early access copies. I did not use social media or the internet for the first 2 days of Remake's release while I finished the main story and I'm glad I did. So many of my friends got spoiled by thumbnails and random ads.

I'm so glad I did. As you said, spoilers were everywhere and even those who would consider the thumbnail or title to be ambiguous, I still consider it a spoiler. Seems like we are on the same page about this. If by some crazy chance, I am able to get an early review code for Rebirth, my content will stop until the review is complete or I'll avoid theory talk altogether (I stopped theorycrafting for XVI months before it launched because there's just a point that I want to be open for what they give me rather than try and correctly predict or gain clout from it) So, hopefully, you can trust that FFTV will not spoil Rebirth or any new FF game prior to launch and will give a respectable grace period before even thinking of putting a spoiler in a thumbnail. But it is still a very good idea to remove all socials during the launch of a game
Very good theory and pacing but I do believe they will end at the northern crater, you followed FF7R which makes sense but remember this is a 2 disc game. Is it twice as long? Idk but fitting in 3-4 more sections to get us to there and the true empire ending seems very possible with 2 discs.
I agree with a lot of this-- but I don't think we're going to Wutai in Rebirth. One reason is because of how Intermission set up Wutai's importance as well as the implication of reigniting war, and the fact that the devs said we wouldn't be seeing Wutai for a very long time. But other than that, everything matches almost too well. They also said we'd be visiting places out of order, so likely it won't be following OG as we know it. Also, I don't think Aerith will die in Rebirth, or at least not in the same place. I think we'll think she has been spared till part 3. But it's very fun speculating in these vids.

I love how you've managed to link up the potential of Rebirth to Remake and it looks good to me! I tried to plot it all out after I finished Remake but I felt like it would end at Nibelheim at best with a faithful and full retelling. But I think you're close with this.
I've been completely against the idea of the end point being North Crater since the beginning. Implying Cloud is dead or no longer in the party makes it hard to market the final part in terms of trailers, in my opinion.
But yeah, I think Mr Dolphin will be in Rebirth for sure. Might not be the same scenario but he has to be there.

Motomu Toriyama said wutai will not be in Rebirth. Because Wutai is very far from midgar according to him.
In the original game, the wutai is a side quest it can be done also on cd 2 or 3.
Wutai will be a big part of the third part, if they add all avalanche factions and characters hidden there from the compilation.
They possibly help the group for the final operation in midgar. It could make the scene epic.

In the IGN article from July 2021 "Final Fantasy 7 Remake: Square Enix On Making the Yuffie DLC And Tantalizing Hints About Part 2"
The development team can only offer hints about what's to come in Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2, but they do make for some tantalizing tidbits. Among other things, Toriyama says that it will "probably be a while until Wutai is showcased in earnest" owing to its distance from Midgar, but that "perhaps there may be a new aspect to things depicted along the way."
I take this to mean that Wutai probably won't be in Rebirth but they'll be story related aspects to Wutai (especially since Yuffie joins the party).

For the sake of making my idea presented in this video work, perhaps when the Tiny Bronco crashes nearby Wutai, maybe it's Fort Tamblin where Yuffie steals the materia and then later on we go to Wutai in Part 3 for the padoga challenge and Don Corneo stuff. But yeah, "a while" could be interpreted as when Rebirth comes out and not in the Intermission DLC. Or as you suggest, not to be expected in Rebirth. You could be right!

I'd gotta replace Chapter 13 Wutai since it was also confirmed we won't be visiting there until Part 3. 13 in Remake was all about deepground, mystery, intrigue, and sorta WTF is going on moments so I'll replace Wutai with something Zack centric. Maybe a playable Zack chapter. Something that sets up for the finale

There's a few things I went in more depth about but edited out for the sake of this video being under 30mins. Sorry bout that. What did you feel got cut too short? The comparison was that Cloud would have to win the approval of Dio in Gold Saucer just as Cloud had to win the approval of the Trio in Wall Market.
The cut part went on to talk about how Dio has a Battle Arena while The Trio had Corneo Coliseum. Cloud needs to win a chocobo race in Rebirth, Chocobo Sam has chocobos. Stuff like that.

In my original voice over I had said, "I don't think Rebirth will have / Cait Sith join the party / at this point" 😅 during editing, I changed my mind and chopped it up to fit in. I still feel like having Cait Sith join during Barret's deeply emotional moments could be a bit distracting. In the original voiceover, I had suggested that Cait Sith be saved for after the Prison chapter.

I hope they don't tell you the Chapter number as you enter like in the first game. It's like a depressing countdown to the end if you know how many Chapters there are. Like, for New Game+, sure add them in so you know, but the first playthrough should omit the visual que.

Honestly, I can't wait to see how Zack's Midgar section plays out. The merc, I mean Cloud, has made quite a name for himself around town lugging around that buster sword so when Zack hears about someone carrying the same sort of sword, he's gonna wonder who exactly. Angeal? It'll be equally eerie, as a player that finished Remake, if something like that DOESN'T happen. And then there's the character interactions we might see, where Turks wonder exactly what is going on with the Cloud tagging along with Zack.

@FinalFanTV Yeah, unless Rebirth ends after the Nebelheim part, and we won't see Cid till the next game. And since Vincent won't have enough time to be in the game, they save him for DLC. If it goes beyond Nebelheim, then yes, I can see them adding Vincent and Cid in the game normally.
