High-Tech World wasn't an Alex Kidd game to begin with. It was a reskin of Anmitsu Hime. This is probably due to manga not being popular in the west at the time and Sega didn't want to pay additional royalties for something unknown to the west.

And to be fair, the first Alex Kidd game was a reskin of a Dragon Ball game Sega was making. If I'm not mistaken, Shinobi World was also a reskin of a game they were making. This tradition runs deep in the series lol
