- 😀Chindonya’s name comes from the “chin” sound of the cymbals and the “don” sound of the taiko.
They dress in elaborate costumes and makeup, and play cymbals, taiko drums, clarinets, and even saxophones to advertise shops while walking around town.
During the Showa era they were a common sight, and can still be seen walking around the Yanagibashi shopping district in Tokyo.
カネを「チン」と鳴らして、タイコを「ドン」と叩くからチンドン屋。
派手な衣装と厚塗りの化粧で、カネ、タイコ、クラリネット、サックスを
賑やかに鳴らしながら街頭宣伝して街を練り歩く。
昭和にはあちこちで見られたそんな懐かしい風景をここ東京下町の
柳橋めぐり商店街では見ることができます。

無くなって、初めて分かる『賑やかし』の良さ
今日、西新宿を仕事で歩いていたらチンドン屋に遭遇
日本人でもチンドン屋に遭遇するのは年に2～3回位あるかないか…
そのチンドン屋を見た観光で西新宿の歩いていた外国人が嬉しそうにスマホで撮影してチラシを受け取る光景が忘れられないw
日本の旅行で一番の思い出になったであろう…日本に行ったらサムライが演奏していて大奥からチラシを貰った！ってw
アップして戴きまして有り難う御座います‼️チンドンさん、大好き人間です❕映画の成瀬監督が、「流れる」で、この「柳橋」を描いています‼️先日、柳橋散歩してきました❗チンドンさんのお蔭で、市丸姉さんの住居跡も見させ戴きました。

最近見ない、チンドン屋さん。
現在50代のオレの小さかったころでも、すでにそうそう見かけなかった記憶があるが…。
正直、まだこうした興行があることに驚いた。
やはりこの国の文化だけに、なくなって欲しくない思いはある。
だが、近年のノリで行くと、「うるせーぞ、この野郎！」とかなるんだろうな。
純粋に楽しそうだな😃
なんか知らんが景気いいな。

いいわ〜！ プロの演奏だわ。。。聴き比べたらそこらへんの公務員バンド(某東京音楽隊)なんぞは二昔前くらい前のチンドン屋さん風なのがよう分かります。。。

I don't know if this is the right place to ask? I visited the Osaka Science Museum in 1996, crossing over a bridge, I saw a bento lady that was singing a characteristic song to attract potential customers. I have never been able to find another experience or occurrence of this? I have only seen an episode of Jdrama "Haken no Hinkaku" in which the "Super-Temp, demonstrates this skill.
Every time, I go back to Japan; I wish I can see this again. But, I have never come across this "sing-song" bento lady song? Does anyone know what I am talking about? Is this a lost art?

It’s said that our predecessors appeared before Meiji era but the style was somewhat different.
@@qchan5586 oh soo ka, the only time I see chindonya on Japanese local TV, was a nhk Asadora show called massan where the heroine, Rita looking for a job where she came across a chindonya group performers with shehnai flute or clarinet which I rarely seen in public except in a symphony event.. heard that Akihabara is becoming quiet due to lack of traffic and tourists, hopefully the tourism board or the business owners there will hire you when things get better there.. and good luck in your future endeavors when the pandemic starts to subside..
私75才、この辺りがチンドン屋を見た世代か？後をついて行きました。
