It's safe. It's not toxic.
Are those cotton gloves? they blend the pastel well. I’m looking for gloves for my pastel work.

Which is easier to learn soft pastels ? or oil Pastels ?
I think personal preference is much more important than difficulty level. When working with soft pastels, you need to consider the fact that they will produce powder particles.
