Old post I know, but I'm sure there are even more idiots without caravans that do exactly the same thing. I know I've seen plenty whilst towing a caravan. Pulling out from a slip lane, making no attempt to speed up to match with the traffic, until they've pulled in to the left lane, then accelerating away.
I used to pull into lane 2 to allow entry from a filter lane, whilst pulling my caravan, until a car driver thought it was a good idea, to undertake me dangerously, because he couldn't spare a couple of seconds, for me to pull back into lane 1, leaving me stranded in lane 2. I never pull out now, I stay in lane 1 and they have to adjust their speed, to fit in with mine.
Got to hate people like that, dawdling along in the outer lanes and then crossing several lanes at the last second regardless of who they screw up in the process.
As a responsible road user (yes and I tow a trailer for business and a caravan for leisure) this is typically why we get such a bad reputation, like other professional drivers many of us do drive within the law and our limitations with due consideration for others. This idiot should gave his license revoked 😡😡😡
As a professional driver he should have driven defensively and been in anticipation of what the idiots around him are doing..blowing the horn didn't make any difference here..but dropping back a couple of feet would have..I drive every day professionally and realise we are all idiots on the road..so watch out for the idiots...
Sat navs? They advise people of their exits *way* in advance. The *signs* on the road advise people of their exits *way* in advance. These people are just pure, 100% unadulterated imbeciles.
I'm sticking my two penneth in for the sake of it, firstly it can be in the third lane where its a four lane carriageway, but not when its a three lane carriageway, also its restricted to 60mph, so I'm guessing its probably speeding, no matter what age a driver is, its not an excuse for bad and or dangerous driving, this manoeuvre was naive and dangerous, far too late to decide to come off.
The caravan was behind the truck , aren't trucks limited to 56mph and did the white van coming through on the inside create the situation by not allowing him to get over more safely, a lot of anomalies in that situation personally I would have gone for the next junction.
Okay, a lot of debate of why the caravan driver was in Lane 3, but What’s that idiot doing in Lane 2 at 00:30 undertaking? Good job the caravan driver stayed where he was. And as for the over reaction and lack of experience at the end? No one also says much about drivers too close up someones backside nowadays, the bandits. So many c**p drivers about!
People make mistakes. People towing c/vans are probably visiting tourists who may not know the road. Tolerance, patience and proper defensive driving techniques will make everyone feel better and calmer.
@@petercartledge5088 Don't make excuses for the idiot towing the caravan. The signs for the services start at one mile, then half a mile, so the caravanner had plenty of time to get into the appropriate lane.
Whilst towing a caravan or any trailer your only permitted to use lane 1 and to use lane 2 for passing slower traffic. In the UK the trailer towing speed limit for motorways was raised from 50mph. To 60 mph. This one looks to be doing more than 60 mph to be out in the 3rd lane, hard to tell the speed when there could be a restriction running.
@@stephenwain7928 Caravans are allowed in the 3rd lane of a 4 lane road. He is not driving over 60 as the lorry that is filming would have a speed limiter and managed to catch him up. Lastly, I agree with what I think you are saying, the caravaner's driving was sub-standered.
The worst driving experience of my life last December, dark and very foggy. I was trying to get on to the M11 from the M25, traffic was heaving and because of the heavy fog no one would let me in. I accelerated but to my horror I had run out of slip road. What should I have done?
@@johnstarkie9948 on reflection that was the obvious thing to do. As I said it was a terrible night, fog, limited visibility and my inexperince on driving on motorways. I paniced put my foot down on the accelerator ,moved out into the first lane and hoped for the best. Someone was watching over me that night.
Haunter.. yes he can go in the middle lanes just not the outer lane(fast lane) but he is in the wrong as any outer lanes are only for over taking then you should go back to the inside lane and not sit in the outer lanes. It happens and they don't seem to realise what they are doing.

The one point that virtually everyone who has commented seems to have missed, Lane Discipline. I`m a professional driver and that car/caravan combo was still in lane three after the 100yard marker and then dove across for the sliproad at the last minute. And yes you may feature this clip along with my credit.
The white mini van blocked him..he stopped an accident by not cutting up the little van ..who was the bad driver here..why is everyone knocking the caravan. He indicated ...the van stuck too close..the caravan decided not to rusk it and so nearly missed his junction. Obviously to me anyway
He probably tried to overtake the red truck but then lost speed and couldn't...trucks don't change there speed and why should they...then he was stuck in the wrong lane ..why am I even writing this? Oh yeah I have a 1000 mile tow to do tomorrow
Where else could he park his rig, the signs often say HGV's and caravans this way ? Why do HGV drivers have to drive on their limiter all the time, even though it means that they are overtaking another limited HGV for a mile or so, selfish and they all do it.

I would have crashed straight into the back of his caravan rather than attempting to slow. Had there been a collision he probably could have had his license revoked (or at lease a few points and a large fine for lane hogging, cutting across two lanes of traffic and dangerous driving)

Risk a fatal crash when the caravan jack knifed and took other vehicles with it, close the motorway for six hours, wait for the police and rescue truck to arrive, explain everything to your boss, sort out the insurance, get home at fuck knows when and risk the insurance companies partly blaming you for being part of an avoidable accident. You have the mind of a genius!
Hit the caravan, front truck tyre blows or gets hung up on the car, truck jackknifes, you get thrown out the cab and the truck rolls over you. Your dying view is of the driver who was towing the caravan bending over you asking if you are OK.
He is allowed to do 60 mph. It was obvious that he was being undertaken by the driver of the white van who is the real dipstick. It of been more helpful if you could have slowed down instead of contributing to the problem.

but they all don't pull caravans, and thats a fact. i do tow a caravan and i am a coach driver, i know how to do things properly.

The van was in 2nd lane under taking caravan, stopping caravan moving in sooner
Some people think indicators cause all other traffic to slow down.
Should be an additional examination to tow large trailers/caravans by now.
There used to be but they recently did away with it. If you wish to tow you can so long as your vehicle and trailer are no heavier that 3.5T
The best thing I ever installed on my caravan is the rear-view camera. Worth every penny.

Most people using sat navs do this 'cut n run' for the exit manoeuvre. Its flipping dangerous and has caused many exit junction accidents.
No excuse as the sat nav will tell you the distance to turn off so you can get in right lane early ..no these people are just idiots

I know this is an old post but the Govt introduced a test for towing a van, funny how that has now been rescinded!

It was a 4 lane motorway, he can use lane 3.

You are not allowed to tow in the furthest right lane, You are allowed to tow in any other lane.

The citreon van sped up whilst being over taken, then undertook. people constantly changing there speed on a motorway is annoying.
