    Captain,
    That SOUND is INTOXICATING !
    I've never had a 4. I had 1 triple, a K75s. I LOVE twins.
    I sold MY LAST BMW, because I didn't like the SOUND.
    I have STOCK Mufflers on MY HD.
    I really enjoy your & Red's vlogs. The 2 of you, have a VOCAL fan in Southern California.

    As the only owner of a '09 Daytona with 10,000 miles on the clock, I can tell you that they are very demanding bikes. They demand your constant attention while riding, or they will try to kill you at the first opportunity. All it wants to do is go faster in any direction.

    • @CaptainRambunctious
      @CaptainRambunctious  Před 8 lety

      I can fully believe that! :-) I managed 22,000 miles on my old Street Triple in 11 months, but this is so different. Those extra revs just give it so much more... plus the riding position, you feel like you are in a dog fight all the time! :-)
      Thank you for watching and for the useful comment... :-)

    • @11bravocrunchie22
      @11bravocrunchie22 Před 8 lety +1

      I love your channel, Capt. I watch damn near every video you post. I'm a Triumph nut from the Colonies. I just wish Corporate Triumph would play ball with my local dealer. Here in the US, they only want to support the mega dealerships, and pretty much say screw the little guys.

    • @CaptainRambunctious
      @CaptainRambunctious  Před 8 lety

      Jake Jennerman Really? Crikey. That doesn't sound very sensible? And then they wonder why they don't crack the american market more greatly?! Hmm... Not much I can do, but you have a point there!

    • @11bravocrunchie22
      @11bravocrunchie22 Před 8 lety

      My dealer said that they want him to have a full line of brand-new models on display every year (that he has to buy from Triumph), even though he knows what his market will support and wants to buy.
      For instance, Triumph wants him to have a brand new Rocket III on the floor at all times, and everyone walking into a Triumph dealer wants to drool over it, sit on it, ride it, etc., but he only sells a single Rocket III about once every two to three years. That's a lot of money invested in bikes that he knows aren't going anywhere.

    • @CaptainRambunctious
      @CaptainRambunctious  Před 8 lety

      Jake Jennerman If I may be so bold: That's nucking futs... No small dealer, or dealer of other brands as well, can afford to have the whole collection in stock at the same time... That;s just weird. I suppose that they are trying to impress upon people their own importance, but if it quells the traders that they rely upon, they are just destroying themselves from their pillars... Does that make sense?

    Fantastic review. Just part exchanged my Ninja 650 for a Daytona 675R 2016 model in black. Is my dream bike but thought I'd better do at least a years apprenticeship on something less forgiving. Outgrew the 650 fast and really cannot wait to jump on the Daytona!!!!!!

    405 lbs wet... wow. Compared to 423, 417, 417, 412 for the zx6r, yzfr6, cbr600rr, gsxr600 respectively. The daytona also has a slight edge in power at 113 hp at the wheel vs 111, 102, 98, 105
    according to resizer.shared.arcpublishing.com/VoQJhVwcjLNJEJfFSMgQpKRD7rQ=/arc-anglerfish-arc2-prod-bonnier/public/GEN73RJAEAAKSU34NH5DULC674.jpg
    Glad I bought one.
    FYI its also about $30 per month cheaper insurance, probably because its less popular, so there arent as many idiots who crash it on their way home from the dealer.

    Weird flashback for me... watching this I was reminded of way back when, when I had a go on a Suzuki X7 (with Allspeed 'spannies)... And was pretty much the hooligan 'frog on a matchbox'... Not that I am in any way saying that an X7 would challenge a Daytona R! :D :D But it's a bike with the same intent. Great review as ever, squire!

  • @Bredaxe
    @Bredaxe Před 5 lety +1

    It may not be as refined as a Ducati, but I'm betting the Triumph doesn't need ridiculous $1500 valve jobs like them either. I'm guessing the 675r lasts longer and has a more reliable engine. Ducati are pretty to look at and a nightmare on the pocket when they get older.

    • @CaptainRambunctious
      @CaptainRambunctious  Před 5 lety +1

      Excellent points... No, I haven't heard of any issues with these engines... Valve check every 12000 miles, and normally no adjustments needed until at least 24000 miles and that normally costs no more than $400...
      Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!

    Non R a good first bike?

    • @CaptainRambunctious
      @CaptainRambunctious  Před 7 lety +2

      Interesting question. I'm not sure that it is the difference between the R and the non R that would make any difference in the decision as to whether to have this as a first bike or not. It's more the access to all that acceleration at higher revs and speeds. I had a street triple as my first bike and they are essentially the same bike, but without that incredible top end. Now, I have always said that the street triple was the best first big bike. Therefore the Daytona shouldn't be much different.
      If you like the sporty looks and seating position, then yes, a very good equivalent of the street triple, but I also remember that when I had my street triple, I got into a few predicaments with speed which the bike's handling and tyres helped me out with...
      I'd say that yes, a good first bike but be very careful with the top end speed, stay relaxed and smooth with your handling, and get better tyres that the super corsas if you are a beginner as these tyres take a long time to warm up and you could be caught out easily...
      So after taking these issues into account and understanding them, then yes, it would be a good first bike. Whether you get the R or not, is really down to price and whether you want that suspension and quick shifter as standard...
      Hope this helps and makes sense.
      Thank you for watching and for the comment... :-)

    • @CaptainRambunctious
      @CaptainRambunctious  Před 7 lety

      Vikram Bharati It will depend on where you want the thrust. I say thrust as it is a mixture of the torque and power. The Daytona will have it earlier in the rev range but won't have that similar inline 4 scream, although as it revs so high, it still does have a howl of its own... :-)

  • @inthenameofjustice8811

    Blimey, the Captain came over all Fred Dibnah at the end!
    I am quite big at 6 feet I wonder if I would enjoy this. What size are you old bean?
    Then again, back in '77 I bought a little Honda CB 400/4 after John Kidson won the TT on one and kept the thing for years, so I guess this might be okay. I used to ride it with my feet on the rear pegs which was a lovely comfortable position. From that day to this I have been waiting for a manufacture to come up with adjustable pegs up and down and front and back. If one of them does a huge amount of riders problems will be solved. It was learning that James May had a 400/4 that persuaded me to part with it. It suddenly did not seem so cool any more.
    Anyway, this thing sounds good and looks nippy. I am a little concerned it will become the Brighton-Soho sausage jockey bike of the moment. A way to recapture almost lost feelings of macho while still wearing pink leathers and keeping in touch with the i̶n̶v̶e̶n̶t̶e̶d̶ , sorry, 'genetically imposed,' female side. A sort of thrill machine for male British Airways cabin crew.
    Yeah, think I shall wait and see on this one. Maybe give it a try next year once I have seen who buys it.

      @CaptainRambunctious  Před 8 lety

      @inthenameofjustice8811 Před 8 lety +1

      Ah, been around a while has it? I had no idea but then, I am a bike fan not a manufacturer fan, so it is easy to miss a model here and there. ;o) I have ridden a few hundred sports bikes in my time. I have also ridden about the same number of tourers, many street bikes, a couple of choppers -- didn't like them -- a few mopeds and scooters and a few monsters, like the first bike I ever rode which was an Ariel Square Four when I was 15 years old. In that time I have found that connoisseurs of one particular style of bike are few and far between. People tend to be swayed into purchase by reputation, looks or fashion at the moment, rather than a devotion to one particular type of machine. Those who are tend to become little sad people who have a barn somewhere full of machines that are never ridden, just obsessed over.
      "And under this tarpaulin I have a Dobrey X450 with the terpsycordial tappets and the brass wing nuts on the fuel regulator tap. You will notice that the front mudguard is yellow while the rear is green. That is because the previous owner was Slip Liddle, the famous Sports Bike connoisseur and he was colour blind. In fact, he was killed when he mixed up red and green at a traffic light. You can still see the scratches in the chrome of the front wheel rim after the bike slid under the trailer of the lorry. Unfortunately, Slip did not do the same.
      "Oh no. I would never part with it.
      "No. I am sorry. I don't allow any of these bikes to be actually started.
      Over in this corner I have six identical Foley 350's from 1968. Would you like to see them?"
      Puke.

    Love your enthusiasm. Love your sense of humour. Love your reviews and videos. But PLEASE.... LOSE the added canned laughter.

      Ha! I will, that was just for fun. I was playing around with the sound effects in my editing suite and couldn't resist... I was just being silly.... It won't be a common feature...

      Your "silliness" is part of your video's charm. Just, for me, the laugh track was over the top. Like I said: love your enthusiasm.

    Nice looking bike. I done an insurance quote on this and it was very expensive

    • @CaptainRambunctious
      @CaptainRambunctious  Před 8 lety

      I bet it was. Although I'd have thought less that other sports bikes as it has a smaller engine than most? Surely cheaper than a 1L bike?

      @demonbarber3148 Před 8 lety +1

      I didn't check the litre bikes.. When I passed my test I got a quote on a new one of these and was near £1000! I went for a 8 year old r6 for the reasonable £250

    • @CaptainRambunctious
      @CaptainRambunctious  Před 8 lety

      Robert Greenwood Yes, all new bikes would be that if you are just licensed. My Thruxton would be nearly that...
      But yes, the R6 is an excellent alternative. RedRenna uses one to great effect.

    there obviously has to be something wrong with the throttle cable to be that loose because I've seen other reviews for the same bike and people barely twist on it and you hear it rev at the slightest twist, I've never seen a review that I've seen this or heard about it, and I've seen a lot of reviews for this bike. And how tall are you? They say that taller people are going to be slightly more uncomfortable than shorter people. I think they said riders at 6 ft and up will be more uncomfortable.

    • @CaptainRambunctious
      @CaptainRambunctious  Před 7 lety

      Fair enough, it could have just needed adjusting, but as it was fairly new, I was surprised... The newer throttle by wire throttles are much more accurate, but maybe I've just forgotten what it is like with a cable?
      I'm 6'1 and yes, I wouldn't be able to ride if for more than an hour or two in one go...
      For those shorter chaps and chapettes, it should be all day long comfortable. My street triple was....

    Ooooh, that's definitely a license looser, lol.
    80mph in first gear, be like riding an automatic, lol. Does sound good though.
    Have you had a bash on the Speedmaster? Can't remember whether you have or not. It's what I'm fancying.

      I still haven't ridden a Speedmaster as my local dealer never has any in, but that and the Trophy are pretty much the only 2 Triumphs left for me to test, but Triumph keep bringing out new bikes!!

    Great looking,well kitted....sharp handling piece of kit mainly to be used as a track killer....
    wish I could say I feel the need to test ride one but I don't....and the reason is I've never been interested in mid sized engines....whatever the power is....yes it sounds great but a laverda jota sounds better.....yes it will out handle just about any machine on the road....if set up correctly......but that's too safe for me.....yes it's got 120 odd hp.....but it lacks that big engine wall of torque....and it's bloody tiny.......it's no dought a fantastic little bike but would it make me smile like my zx ......never.. That's my opinion only of coarse ....
    No I can honestly say that the Thruxton R is the one to ride for me.....it's proper Triumph in my book!

    • @CaptainRambunctious
      @CaptainRambunctious  Před 8 lety

      Thruxton R you say? Yes, not bad... ;-)
      There is something about a larger engine, but this is like a greyhound puppy... Eager and fast... :-)

      Ah Mr Weggy, interesting comments, I too have (faint) memories of seeing and hearing jota's exercised up the bypass for example.
      As a ZX12R is your daily scoot, I thought your ride views on a mid size sports bike would be of value, just like them TT superbike boys that say 600 class is a fun ride around the island.
