Dusty had such a solid, melodic voice, and sang backups strong and always perfect harmony. I look at him as a predecessor to guys like Michael Anthony. He paved that ground of a strong, melodic, single harmonizing voice in hard rock setting. Very underestimated as a bassist. His lines were very active and solid, had almost a synth tone it was so consistently played. One of the best rock bottoms ever. In the documentary he comes across as just a solid, down to Earth guy who knew who he was and what he was capable of. Truly a loss.

Why the bass is a lot better than most bands Billy gibbons uses a technique that jimi Hendrix taught him when he was 18 to place his thumb on the 5th and 6th strings to give the electric guitar a little more bass tone really helps dusty big time easy to learn give it a try

Either you got it or you don't. They set the bar pretty high.
Don't give up. Practice. Practice. Practice.
Notice Billy always wears long sleeve shirts and coats. Cuts down on the friction betwixt pick hand/wrist and guitar.
But you didn't learn that from me.
