I think Caline might be pranking me, they sent 22 pedals and a power supply all at once. Of course I took that as a personal challenge to feature ALL OF THEM in a single video. Because this video is pretty dang long Ive divided it up into...
CHAPTERS:
00:00 - intro (of course)
04:13 - Fuzzes
09:58 - Reverbs
22:17 - Modulations & Delay
35:12 - Distortions
49:04 - Compressors
58:23 - Overdrives
1:15:50 - Affordaboard ceremony

If you took a few minutes to learn about the pedals before doing the demo, you might appear to be less dopey.
You'd think with a username like Dumbamerica, you'd be here specifically for the dopeyness.
Dopey is my personal brand tho.
Ryan is all of us garage musicians
Yeah , Honest spontaneity is over rated . Myself , I enjoy preplanned manipulation much more .

Caline needs to have a subscription model where you pay a monthly fee and they send you everything they make. A box every month with 3-5 (or sometimes 22) pedals, that’d be fun.
That's actually a really good idea
@@joeladams2540 Yeah that's actually a decent idea.
@@peteywheatstraws4909 yeah its actually a nice idea
I too like this idea
Just an idea, but with the low price of most of their pedals, get three other friends to commit to buying one caline pedal per month. Each of you choose something different from ths others and pass them around once a week. You get to try four pedals a month and then you each get to keep one. If i had friends thats what ivwould do.
The video I needed. I just started building a pedalboard after 5 years of playing, and Caline is a budget goldmine.
I'm actually glad you did this as one super long video--it was fun to watch and killed almost two hours!
I surprisingly liked the distortion/eq pedal with the motorcycle graphic, and I'm not much of a distortion user.
They all sounded very usable and I liked the unique artwork on each. Hard to pick a favorite, but the Tiger Shark comes to mind. Thanks
Here for the rude and nasty comments.
Will watch the rest of the video later.
Fart!
Really like the beowolf or night hawk, whatever
Watched from beginning to end, Friday night well spent! Great job as per usual, Ryan \m/ Also, my Cuvave Fuzz should be arriving tomorrow, and I'm eager to play with it!
Its like a brand new show with that Blue Background.
its got that new show smell
It's hurting my eyes!
I think someone needs to make a video on the tonal qualities of different wall paints.
Its a good study... which wall paint has better tone?
@@darrellm3410 brown, if you want the “brown” sound
Ahh, there's a couple of Calines I've been wondering about. So glad someone's done a comprehensive look at them all.
I’ve been watching your videos more and more lately seeing how the lower end pedals because I’m incorporating them more and more into my studio effects racks for sound effects and sound design. Even though you demonstrate with music, it’s helps me quite a bite with seeing how they sound. Thanks for the vids!
I would like to say that regardless of Ryan's assessment of the Mariana, I really want one. Based on this video alone, the "Hot Springs" setting sounds to me like a 1960s 45, like Phil Specter, with tons of room reverb, and what he described as granular, at least to my ears sounds like a Link Wray overdrive amp, there was a phaser or something that reminded me a lot of Tripping Daisy and Soundgarden, even the weird pitch shift tone has potential for sounding like a warped record. Honestly, the whole pedal screams Surf, Grunge, Garage Punk and psychedelic 60s, all at the bottom of the sea. I just ordered one, and I can't wait for it to arrive. Thank you Ryan. I'm sorry you didn't like it, but I think the Mariana sounds awesome.
Agreed,I think the whole new series is great.
Best review ever!!!
AWESOME tone on recording, another videos the people makes the sound using digital recording, makes the tone like awful, but your video is a natural tone of the good speakers! I LOVED SO MUCH, you're the best bro! Thanks for this video!
Loved hearing the funk riffs with the compressor! Keep up the fun vids man!
Watched from beginning to end. I regret nothing. Thank you!!!
hi ! Keep doing a great job ! I always enjoy looking at it !
Great video, I really enjoyed it. Caline pedals are exellent.
i know i'm super late to this party, but i think you missed the beauty of the Queen Bee. i love it with the gain down to about 3 oclock and the volume up to about 9. I kept watching you touch the dials and yelling at my monitor for you to turn the volume up lol
The osmium and stack attack were my favorites. Liked the vibrato on the ultimate too. Thanks for trying them all.
Wow...they sure look and sound good! 🤯👏🏻🎸
Absolutely love these videos, im finding some of the afford a board pedals that I end up liking I can't find sometimes unfortunately haha. Though I am watching through them all and the ones im not finding are from years ago.
Hey Ryan, good work here, saves me a lotta time , thx so much
Im a big Caline fan! Think they always get things right! And the prices, man, awesome!
This is a gem as well as the other affordaboard vids. Thank u from a 44 yr old guy here. Always wanted to go back to analog. Love d artwork / aesthtics too. Been using digital multi fx for years now.
Love the panel designs on these….plus that snake bite reverb sounds great, especially for the price. Gonna grab one for my synth setup I reckon
Thanks for you work, for you time! Nice video👍
Hey Ryan. I really enjoy all of the demos, and don’t care how long they are. Nothing is going to beat the Cuvave Fuzz, I don’t see it lol. The muff style one sounded great, but I would always just prefer an actual muff.
i love the new blue paint in the back it really makes everything pop
Thanx for the vid, gotta get a few of these!
Enjoyed the video. I just bought the Caline Old School Reverb (which wasn’t reviewed here) and really like it.
It's my favourite reverb.
Reverb and chorus sounded amazing
This breakdown is just what the doctor ordered, I was really enticed by a lot of these mainly bc the artwork is so cool. But especially glad you broke down the M-Fuzz as a muff, I was curious if itd be closer to a Maestro or Tone Bender sound by its "classic" label. Definitely going to p/up the Stack & Osmium thru your link! BTW, is their an affordable fuzz you reccomend for a Tone Bender sound (Who/Zeppelin) ?! (that's more durable than the plastic Behringers hopefully) Many thanks my man!
Dude you are amazing .... Ryan you really know your shit ..... Thank you for sharing all of your knowledge with us 😁
good and organized thank you for this vid
Great demo aford a board, after seeing this i feel that my G.A.S got worse =D, So nice & nice looking Caline pedals is, but Amazon is out of stock, in most of these pedals ;D but hope to get my hands on some soon, Big thanks Ryan you bring so much joy and light to this planet. Love cheers from Sweden 💚
Love your honest reviews
Excellent general overview.......even not checked pedals before ;-)
I was surprised that he liked the Stack Attack, since it was by far the darkest and dullest of all the drive pedals--- at least that's how it sounded to me.
The overdrive side of the Nightwolf fuzz/overdrive is based on their Pure Sky, their best selling Timmy clone, and the overdrive in the Brutus is their Midlander, which is their Tube Screamer. And, the overdrive side of the Key West and the Mellow drive appears to be their version of the Zendrive/Dumble style pedal.
The voice allows you to switch pedal order
You earned that thumb up.
Even though I was mentally yelling at you to turn up the wet knob on the multi reverb when you were saying there was hardly any reverb on one setting. AND also turn down some of the wacky on the other settings. It was the one pedal I was seriously considering of the lot >_<
I feel like pedals like those are just missing a guitarist to come in and really focus the engineers designing them and make them really useable. I love the experimentation and range of available sounds, just the implementation that is slightly off the mark somehow. I think they might be coming up with a few wallet-friendly Earthquaker Devices-challenging designs in a couple more generations of pedal designs.
I love you dude, you are the man
The compressor & overdrive pedal is a good one. Thank you.
I watch the whole thing that's was awesome stay gifted
Very nice, Ryan, I think you just gave me pedal envy, and I NEVER care about anything beyond my footboard.
The ring modulator at the end of that mod pedal. Cool.
Great review. You chopped the video into chapters, how handy. Caline should pay you more.
they paid me nothing so more is always an option, lol. I clicked the 'paid promotion' button because they sent me all the pedals. and technically that is a form of "payment".
Caline is one of the few "affordable " brands that I have always liked
I'm a Mosky man, but this Tiger Shark kills.
Folks at Caline who were thinking they had you hooked for a whole series of videos: 😐
I actually like the eq/comp...sounds killer for funk!
Man these new Caline’s are impressive. Talk about updating a brand. I hope that these hit the stores quickly. Have no problem getting a few of these budget wonder boxes.
Edit: compressors are some of my favourite effects. Especially the over the top ones 😂
Great video. I may be a victim of the Stack Attack. I'll have to wait patiently till its on sale.
Dude, this was like watching a movie!!
I use the Mariana with a pedal effects loop to add more of the dry signal back in, its absolutely fantastic if you have a way of doing that
WOW the Mariana has a expensive sound I really love it and the Wonderland what a combo have a great night😎💯👍✌️
ahahaha 31:00 i L0Led at the face u made when the note didnt make it full octave up
Lmk if you're giving any of these away 🤣 good video.
I just wanted to say I thoroughly enjoy these videos. This one especially!
When you said "It's kind of a fizzy barky overdrive" I thought "Yeah, 'cause you make every overdrive and distortion pedal ever sound fuzzy and fizzy".
That tiger shark pedal was a big suprise. I actually really liked it
Caline is the Marvel of pedal companies. So many variations and pedals and no one can keep up and pay attention to lol
The hot springs doesn't sound like a "classic" spring reverb but it does a thing. Gonna buy it for what it does and not what it's supposed to do. Sounds like it's affecting the pick attack almost like a compressor.
That mellow drive was shockingly nice I might need to pick one up lol
AND the enchanted tone, damn
Love this channel. Dude's hillarious but I hate him for getting me to spend so much money
Love the afford-a-board vids :)
I could find a place for the 'multimod' :)
Awesome pedals for the money. Dollar for dollar, great pedals❗
Blues On....💙
Hey Ryan would you be interested in doing a video on surf 🏄♂️ for beginners? Technical skills Gear etc etc
I would like that
Diggin' that idea !
I keep meaning to do something like this. I promise to keep intending to get to it until i eventually do.
@@60CycleHumcast Doooooo ittttt
Surf needs to come back and be cool again. Especially the ventures
Sundance Special was my fave through my monitor speakers. :P I liked the Stack Attack also but thought the comp was kind of pointless. The compressor seemed to change the sound less than 1%. It might have added something like a slightly slower response or something that I wasn't noticing? The power supply supplied power. Plus, the price is reasonable. Thanks for being enough of a masochist to go through all of those in one video.
I love the Mellow Driver. It's got soul.
Not going to lie, never been a fan of reverb but that Wonderland reverb, just WOW. So need to incorporate one into my rig
I think u need a trophy for this one, sir.. ;)
Wow.now that's a very good day.i wish I could get a big box like that.
Awesome! I've been looking for a compressor that really pops for ages. Search over...
I REALLY love that Nightwolf as a concept. It's too bad it has that issue. I'd really like to buy that pedal if not for it's volume problem on the fuzz side that everyone talks about. Maybe you could fix it and call it the Daywolf. Or, you could call it the Paul. I'll take one pedal as payment if you do.
I like the new logo. I hope they're reprinting all their pedals with that.
Hey ryan. What are those cool space saving flat patch cables? I need those for my pedalboard..wow..yes please.
The Sundance Special is the Xotic BB clone, the Dolamon is the Xotic RC booster clone. The Mellow Drive appears to be a Marshall Bluesbreaker clone.
That Mariana verb.... the Trem mix. So good.
Ever try the hotone mini pedals. I have the grass and djent pedals they were 30 buck about a year ago. The djent distortion has more harmonic edge than any I have tried. I use it for leads then use a metalzone for rythym,
I got the krush . It's fun as heck
what would happen if you plugged the easy driver into a cabsim pedal and left the eq as "clean"? then use the drive as drive (duh)? would it work like a portable amp in a box kinda thing?
Bob Shade is a friend and I see you have a Hallmark Swept Wing. Thanks for the video.
Will watch later!
Great Stuff.....
!!! 🙌 I wish CALINE would focus more on what modern distortions and overdrives that are out at the moment. 🙌!!!
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do another one of your FANTASTIC VIDEOS where BARITONE meets THE TIGER SHARK! You KILL it on THAT TIGER SHARK!
The preferred overdrive in the Sundance special is actually the Orange burst pedal (i.e. exactly same circuit).
THE WONDERLAND .. WOW
Overachieve much? I’m kidding, I dig your dedication man, you really go for the whole enchilada!
I was sceptical but blew my mind with some tweaking and stacking. The best thing about it is series
i dont have any caline drives .i think theres something special about the queen bee tho.it sounds really good on the demos ive seen. tight with attitude ,but still smooth.
Gonna have to keep my eye out for that m fuzz 👀
I do wonder how the low end of that Jaguar would sound on a bass, though...
I do have the Stack Attack, hardly use the compressor switch, but on a low gain setting it acts as a nice OD/booster before or after a high gain distortion or fuzz, specially on bass, if you want that Lemmy-esque wall of sound with a powerchord on a bass.
Love the blue!
When you were playing around with the Mariana pedal some sounds reminded of Lonely Is The Night by Billy Squire. The intro to the song anyway.
I love the Pressure Tank compressor.
I've been wondering what this one is a copy of.
@@frederickshelborn6911 it's supposed to be based on the Diamond compresser pedal.
the sundance and the brigade sounds great!
The first fuzz doesnt sound big muffy to me. It sounds great actually -dynamic. Fun hearing the demo. Thanks.
Been more and more curious about Caline as a budget brand. My budget brand as of late has been BOSS :) $100 HM-2 does not suck
These are a huge downgrade tone-wise from Boss. You're spoiled & you don't even realize it yet.
@@JeighNeither check out the boss board series on my channel. I've been very lucky on a number of occasions. Had a fun Journey collecting over 30 Boss pedals in the list few months :)
Caline have amazing pedals they aren't just clones they're legit
@@benjaminfowler4513 They might, but I've tried/purchased 3 of them, & they all went back. They are an entry level pedal, not a professional pedal.
Cool, you've launched a CZcams channel; I wish you enormous success! Don't lose patience with the process tho; it's going to take a while to get an audience. However, the fact that you're launching a channel based thus far on pedals, tells me you know what you're doing & have a decent ear (what do you mean by getting lucky?) & that furthers my belief that you'll be disappointed in Caline pedals tone wise. To be fair to them, the pedals I got were older models, they have probably learned a lot since then, but that's one of the great parts of having a channel right? You can find out for yourself, & turn that discovery into an video, which the entire community can learn from.
I ain't rooting anyone on!! lol...great review!
Honestly, for the vast majority of the world that never leaves their home with their guitar, we're all just looking for a "sound" and affordable pedals deliver in spades.
good job
Sti like my Snake Bite. Best verb Ive found for the money. Unfortunately it doesn't do spring, but I haven't found a spring verb under $100 that doesn't sound like a texture patch.
I can't find the Osmium for sale anywhere,? Is there another version of this circuit?
