      This is basically a podcast, since a lot are filmed to view these days. Only difference is you either have to pay for YT premium to listen with your screen off (I think), or you can just rip the audio to your device to listen to.
      If you're interested, my fave two ripping/downloading/converting -apps- programs are Kotato AVD Pro and VideoProc ConverterAI.

    Phones like the "CMF Phone 1" need to make up a new category of modular hardware phones, along side standard, fold and flip. A modular phone category for the tinkerers and DIY'ers would create all kinds of fun phones we haven't seen in a long time. Google had it right all those years ago with Project Ara.

    Something that is really important to note when considering that this phone is not meant for the US market, is that it is missing band support for the US in such a high degree that 5G is not supported on two of the three major carriers, and the band list is limited enough that there is no guarantee you will get signal at all (depending on region) for any of the carriers here. It's a really cool phone but shouldn't be considered by anyone in the US market at this time.

    "7 years of OS updates" is a load of garbage. Who's going to use their phones for 7 years? Who's using their *checks phones from 2017* Galaxy s8 today? Both on the software and, most importantly, hardware side, the device will have long been obsoleted. If by nothing else, the battery will be crap by then.
    I'd trade "waterproofing" for "water resistant" 11 times out of 10, if it meant I could replace my battery (also, 3.5mm jacks and micro SD slot, but that's another issue). But, THEN, the 'promised' 7 years of OS/Security update would mean something. But now, given the trajectory of hardware, GTFOH with that noise.

    Why are US creators praising this phone when it was literally designed for markets like India? In the US, the only carrier you can get 5G on it is T-Mobile, assuming you have N41 bands in your area. On AT&T, it only works with 4G. It does not support Verizon bands at all. The concept of the CMF phone is appealing, but I want a fair test of the phone in the USA on a USA network, something I will NEVER get because it CANNOT work here.

    The camera is really bad on this phone. I don't care about the missing features but it's just not a good phone.

    Water resistance in phones is so niche. Let be honest. Theres not many scenarios when my phone is going to be in water. Also boring backs on phone are fine and you answered that regarding the case manufacturers are solving this problem.

    • @wairgald
      @wairgald Před měsícem

      I agree with you on the water resistance thing. Even low-end phones have pretty good water resistance. They can handle having water sprinkled on them and just can't stand up to being submerged or using them in the shower or during a downpour, etc. If people were really concerned about having a waterproof phone, then more companies would make that a feature in lower-end phones, as those are the most common phones purchased.

      Interesting. I've never once used NFC and truthfully still am not sure I understand what it is. Never had a phone with wireless charging. My last expensive phone was the Samsung Note 8 and then a OnePlus 8T. Now have a Samsung A53 5G, which I am very annoyed with small issues...mostly that CZcams will only display 1080p, the screen is dull, and the camera is terrible esp with how longggggg the delay is before it takes the pic

    • @wairgald
      @wairgald Před měsícem

      @@emilyshabang NFC has nothing to do with wireless charging. It is a chip in your phone that allows you to tap your phone to other devices for various purposes. For example, it is how things like Apple pay and Google wallet allow you to tap you phone on pay terminals to pay. There are printers that are NFC enabled to allow for printing from your phone just by tapping it to the printer. Also, you can use it to tap two phones together to transfer small files. The tap to pay function is probably the most common use of it and I believe uses the same or similar tech as credit/debit cards that allow tap to pay.

      @@wairgald I understand that NFC and wireless charging are different. I just meant Ive never had wireless charging, and that I don't really understand what NFC does so I likely don't need it

    a 200$ phone works for 2 years and i can use it a bit freely rather than a 1200$ glass phone sure its good but man its stressful to take care of it for 7 years

      The phone manufacturer doesn't intend anyone to use their phone for 7 years. It's a marketing stunt. After 5 years they MIGHT keep giving security updates and reduce battery life, etc etc
