introducing a short term assistance to a peoples that are on the edge like that will just hurt them because when they leave not only will they go back but now they will have new problems as well. there are whole islands that no longer is open to outsiders because of "wanting to help"

As a Guyanese, the people of the amazons are extremely skilled jungle dwellers and well versed from poisons to edible plants. They even know how to remove poisons from snakes and other animals and preserve them to use on arrows. My indigenous friend told me that they can run straight up in trees just like running in the streets. They co-exist with the large cats such as jaguars peacefully. You’re fortunate to ever meet them. But respectfully, don’t just approach them head on. Sometimes you cross their paths on trails such as “Iwokrama”, which is a rainforest guide in Guyana.

there are jaguars in my town, it ocasionally appears in the local newspapper, I'm Brazilian btw. When I was a child, my grandfather worked building new roads to places like little villages that didn't have easy access to the city. Sometimes instead of taking me and my brother to school (like he was supposed to do) we would ask him to take us with him to work, because of that we would go to places in the middle of nowhere, meet a lot of people and see a LOT of wildlife. Once we spent the night in a farm which my grandfather were friends with the owner, and it was about 6 pm, and I asked them if I could play in the cornfield, and the owner said that every night there was a jaguar that would appear in the farm surroundings and it was very dangerous to go to the fields around that time. I'm not even kidding, some people that I know say you can smell it from a long distance, and the animal smells like rotten flesh. they are scary but beaultiful creatures.

I find it hard to believe these communities don’t know which country they live in. I have worked almost 15 years with many indigenous communities in Colombian Amazon and there are very few completely untouched tribes. Most rely of these communities have contact with the outside in some way or another, many through trade ( fish mainly ). A few companies fly old planes into these areas and buy fish 3 times a week and sell them in Putumayo or caqueta. Yes they live a subsistence lifestyle but they have clothes and aren’t what I’m sure most people are imagining as Indian tribes wearing close to nothing hunting and untouched. It’s just not the case. Certainly not the communities that converse in Spanish. The real remote tribes don’t speak Spanish at all.
    Anyway that’s my 2 cents

"Ringworm" has nothing to do with worms. It's a contagious itching skin disease occurring in small circular patches, caused by any of a number of fungi and affecting chiefly the scalp or the feet. The most common form is athlete's foot.

"Must be pretty recent" Joe, President James Garfield died because Doctors kept operating on him without cleaning their tools. This was less than 150 years ago. Modern medicine is one group of technology thats grown faster than any other tech. Hell, in the span of a year, my dad went from not moving a ACL reconstruction for 6 weeks, to having to get up and walk around less than 24 hours after the surgery. (Yes he tore his ACL twice in less than a year).

We get mountain Lions here where I live in California. Sometimes locals will take pictures of them around the area. The only encounter I ever had, our Ring caught a mountain lion carrying a cat in its mouth. We had outside cats and thought it caught one of ours, they were in hiding for a week after that big cat showed up.
