THROWING WATER IN THE AIR @ -20° BECAUSE CANADA BANNED 🇺🇸 HAVING FUN

  • We are driving through Canada and camping in -20°f temperatures at a Truck Stop. Our 4x4 camper van is equipped for traveling in these extremely cold conditions and we share how our diesel hydronic heater keeps our expedition vehicle's engine block warm when boondocking.
We are also sharing a fun trick, throwing boiling water in the air when it's -20°f and how it vaporizes.
Once on the road talk about how we are not supposed to have any fun when traveling through Canada during the 2nd wave of covid19. This includes not stopping at the Signpost Forest Liard Hot Springs.
We also encounter a lot of wildlife on this stretch of the Alaska Highway and see caribou and bison on the road.
***Our trip south through Canada falls under essential travel because we going down to the Lower 48 for work.

I've traveled the desolate roads of Northern Alberta in a Dodge Caravan at -40º. It was a constant worry that I'd have a breakdown and die of exposure. At least with the camper box you'd have someplace warm to retreat to! But I sighted Grey Wolves a few times, which was one of my life's big thrills. They are elusive animals.
I take it with that expanse of cold windshield, the cab heater never really kept up -- just enough to keep the windshield clear, but never enough to take a layer or two off :). I remember that getting in the van in the morning that the seats were ROCK HARD... the foam was frozen, and took an hour or so to thaw out. That was the first time I saw the sense in heated seats, which I could have really used.
This was in the days before cell service up there (most of Alberta is covered now), and podcasts and audiobooks weren't around either. I could get CBC on the radio in a lot of places (a national treasure), and I had a first edition iPod that I had rigged a jack for into the back of the stereo. In those days I fot to really *appreciate* music....it's so much harder now with all of life's distractions. Hopefully I'll be out on the road in a year or so, somewhere between here (Toronto) and Baja... I'll keep watching. I appreciate how down to earth you guys are.
And a little envious that you're in NW Washington... Bellingham is one of my favourite medium-sized towns on the continent.

I've lived in Michigan most of my life and and I can think of at least 3 times when anti-lock brakes have almost caused me to get in a wreck. They sound good on paper but on roads where the traction is uneven they are not advantageous in my experience. Now that I'm down off of my soap box, nice video. Keep the good stuff coming.
