You missed his single best bass line of all time, Dragon Attack
There are so many "bests" one of my faves is Millionaire Waltz, watch it live.
Wasn't it written by Brian May?
This is a bassline everyone talks about. DA was written by May.
@@AdmiraHax Brian has said that John came up with the riff, then Brian wrote the song around it.
Deaky and Freddie were great friends and loved working together. If Freddie was still here I bet John would still be playing and writing his amazing songs. Deaky said when he wrote his songs he had Freddie’s voice in mind.
John is brilliant, he will always be Queen’s only bass player. ✌️😁
Live Millionaire Waltz Deacy is phenomenal
Regarding Cool Cat, I believe it was John not Roger who played drums on that song. In fact, if I'm right, he played all the instruments on it.
True !!
Thank you Paul....John said that Dragon Attack was his favourite.....such an amazing bass player....who knows what might have been for the two of them, if Freddie had not died....When Freddie played piano he always asked John to stand near him...to hear the bass up close....David Bowie tried to show John how to play the bass...what arrogance!....John said to him, “I’m the bass player”......John Deacon...the ace of bass...Hi John, We hope you’re keeping well🌺
I would add You're my Best Friend to this list. Brilliant use of counterpoint.
The whole A Day At The Races album is peak Deacon.
Peak Deak or Peaky Deaky
Rain Must Fall is one of my favorite songs because of deacons bass and Freddie's vocals. You can only feel happiness listening to it.
My Melancholy Blues is probably my favorite bass line of his. Cool Cat was essentially a Deacon production. He pretty much laid down everything but the piano.
Best Rock Bassist of all-time!
Deacon was a wizard!
dragon attack is his best bassline
In the show must go on he did a great job too. With headphones it sounds great. It can be more famous but I cannot stop mentinoning a kind of magic. Also in crazy little thing called love the contrast between Freddie's guitar and vocals, Roger's drum and Deaky's bass creates a strange but nice effect. Everyone talks about the fact Freddie composed it in a few minutes, probably while taking a bath and also played the guitar while many better guitarists would never make such a successful song, but everyone forgets John's line, it sounds amazing.
And where is Dragon Attack, the absolutely best Deaky line, and what hooked me to that song
Love me some john deacon ❤❤❤
Love John
I love his work in These Are The Days Of Our Lives. Silky, smooth fretless basslines abound. Especially during the chorus where he does a little sliding fill at the 1:01 mark.
I'm Going Slightly Mad is insane on 5 string as is Headlong.
I'm curious what bass was that - there doesn't seem to be any info, any studio photos, nothing.
@@Bassdriver Yeah same. Heard from some YT covers its a 5 string he used on two songs but hearing from this video, sounds closer too a fretless!
Mr Del Bello, you are the bassist that I watch THE MOST on CZcams. I absolutely love your Bass Habits episodes...perfect analysis of my favorite bassists. I only begun my "Bass journey" 3 months ago, but I love the instrument. ThankZ so much for the influence and education 🎸
What about BREAKTHROUGH, BACK CHAT, THE INVISIBLE MAN, KEEP PASSING THE OPEN WINDOWS and DRAGON ATTACK?
There you can hear great bass lines!
And during this first song, bass drives the rythm of a train and so during this fourth one ;)
Biggles is awesome
You can actually here some popping in "get down make love", and some slapping in "don't try suicide".
Mustapha is one of my favorite obscure bass lines of his. Great job though and keep up the great videos.
Fairy fellars master stroke
4:05 The best of Queen - ever, with a little Bowie to go.
i like your vids but please give us more time to listen songs :D
Yes!
1:55 is that Eric Clapton in the back?
No, that’s Queen’s Tour Manager, Gerry Stickells (R.I.P.)
John was one of the best players in rock. He probably hasn’t picked up the bass in over 25 years now
I don’t think that’s necessarily true. From what I’ve heard, John taught his son Luke to play bass and guitar. (Luke plays bass in a band called Kid Jupiter… and unlike his famous father, he also has a very nice singing voice). When I’ve listened to Luke’s basslines, there are elements of the Deaky Magic in there.
I think John still plays at home for his own enjoyment, even though he prefers to live out of the spotlight - I know very few musicians who put away their instruments forever. They just stop playing publicly.
