Clicking on a Sharpe video to make a "Now thats soldiering" comment only to realise someone else has already said the same thing...
Now Thats Sobering
underrated comment
Damn, Sharpe's got a Hellstorm rocket battery now
Now that's Warhammering
He’s like Sly Marbo, a one man army
surviving an explosion that killed an entire garrison?
Now thats Sharpeing!
Making a new episode 14 years after the last one. That's continuing.
@@HenriHerbert88 Whoa now, I didn't say anything... Because that's soldiering.
Firing rockets when it's not Bonfire Night?
That's soldiering.
If you were wondering where Bonnet and Colonel Gudan were, Sharpe sent them to find the general's daughter. Though while the colonel was trying to free her Bickerstaff knifed him in the back. Bonnet a few seconds later saw his colonel dead. His last words were, "The fortunes of war madam."
Charging up a breach in the wall of an Indian fort, now that's sepoying
i thought my self a die hard sharpe "tv series fan" until i started the books on audible at work. chaps, lady's and gents i implore you to all to get the books in paper form or from audible!
this tv epeisode is from one of the first books by Bernard Cornwell and sharpe is only a sergeant at this stage of his career. honestly the books are so so good and very addictive and in particular the audible narration is excellent. any of you sharpe fans will love it
I'm reading Sharpes Tiger
@@lisafernley3810 be prepared to for the following addition that will come from it. The audible versions narration by Rupert Farley is excellent if you don’t have the time to read the 22 books I would suggest audible.
@@fran87blacon I didn't realise there was so many books, 😀
@@fran87blacon The down side is Audible exclude Cornwall Excellent Historic notes in which he explains on the little changes he made
I wouldn't say he or his army made a mistake... Sharpe and Pat literally ruined his plans...
Richard Pierre I mean he could have killed them when he just put them in a cell instead I’d say that was a mistake
@@user-ns3vs3bp3e yes, a rookie villain mistake. Never explain your plot to the hero then lock him in the pokey. That's just asking for trouble.
@@user-ns3vs3bp3e I mean yeah but that's got nothing to do with his army making a mistake. But one could also argue that it was intentional to lock them up. Imprisoning someone is known to work. That's why jails are a thing. So that isn't really a mistake either. Could he have just killed them? Yeah, but the point was to make him sit by and watch helplessly as his troops died. You don't expect your prisoners to escape.
Dodd made a mistake by thinking Sharpe and the French turncoats were of "no consequence".
@@jedder Dodd made a mistake by fighting Richard "plot armor" Sharpe period.

Charging wildly into a channelized area after a retreating enemy who holds the high ground... That's not soldiering.
What would you rather them do, stand about on the hill and get shot at or at least try to push into the fort and get shot at?
You underestimate my hypotenuse
That's what they did at Badajoz
@@bomber7837 You commit part of the force, a second forlorn hope if needed. Whenever you lose contact with the enemy, you need to advance, not with the main body, but skirmishers at the least to regain contact with the enemy, fix them in position, and then maneuver
.
@@SantomPh No, they sent a second forlorn hope, with Sharpe (in the books at least) And there's a difference between charging a breach at the enemy, and overagressively pursuing a retreating enemy who had no need to retreat in the first place.
Dodd's Army. The unpopular prequel to Dad's Army.
Don't tell him Perkins!
Anyone else remember when Sharpe initially thought rockets were damn near useless as a weapon?
Well, they were.
Everything is damn-near useless until you discover their use.
@@peterclarke7240 Oh and learn how to put them to use. Rockets in the hands of someone who knew how to use them would get their opponent's attention very quickly. Remember back then armies still ranked up in battalions in line and well with Rockets you never knew where it would land, but you could fire off quite a few of them quickly.
In an enclosed space like this (or against a mass of infantry) they're lethal. In an open hillside where Mr Gilliland was showing them off, not so much.
Realising your only chance for survival is to run towards explosion...
Well, that's something.
I am so gonna miss these sharpe clips. Thank you so much for posting these. Idk what’s next for you (Horatio Hornblower maybe?) but I’ll be there for it .
