  • As protein prices have increased farmers are looking at being able to grow more protein on the farm to offset purchased protein supplements.
    The growing of straight combinable legume crops such as beans and to a lesser extent peas is an option on Scottish arable farms and is usually done to provide a valuable rotational break crop.
    Scotland’s Farm Advisory Service (FAS) is part of the Scottish Rural Development Programme (SRDP) which is co-funded by the EU and Scottish Government, providing information and resources aimed at increasing the profitability and sustainability of farms and crofts.
