    I’m 50 years old and I remember being at my aunt and uncle’s house in Dayton, OH probably 45 years ago playing with their old slot machine. I’d sit and pull that arm for as long as they would let me. Good times! Thanks for taking me down memory lane. Interesting to see the inner workings too!

      Not as old as you, but i havw a similar memory. I really regret not asking for that slot machine after my grandfather died and my grandma was moving to a retirement home. The value of it was worth far less than the memory i have with it, but its now gone forever.

      This guy's got no idea🙄
      old slot machines were easily rigged in the houses favor. And just so you know, machines/programs don't make mistakes, people do. If something wasn't a mistake, it was intended. You're not more likely to win or lose just because it's mechanical.

    I think I was just a born gambler. Not that it's a good thing, because now I'm catching myself spending hours at slots in video games just to hit a win. I would gain and lose nothing (except time) so that eased my mind a little but still.

    • @ZipperonDisney
      @ZipperonDisney  Pƙed rokem +2

      I think it was a replacement during a bad restoration job. I had to cut a few coils to keep the correct tension.
      What shady owners used to do was plug up the reel stops where the big prizes symbols were, so the machine couldn't stop on those jackpots! Then district attorney of San Francisco and to-be Chief Justice of the US Supream Court, Earl Warren ran a raid on the Mills warehouse where several of these "bugs" were found. That helped sway public option against upcoming legislation that was supposed to formally legalize gambling machines.

    these slot machines seem more
 let’s say “honest” than current electronic ones you see in today’s casinos. I know it can be done, but it’s hard for me to imagine the machine could be made to “cheat” in the same way that coded machines today can be made “cheat” to ensure the house always wins. It seems like randomness is a larger factor in this machine other than the fact that it won’t give a payload until the coin tube(?) is full. Although, I hesitate to call completely “honest” or unable to “cheat” because at the end of the day it’s still gambling. I wouldn’t mind owning one of these slot machines as a novelty item though.
