Wonderfully Comprehensive- I have been looking for sometime to add Solar to our Bayliner, and now I've found it. The though adding your clean, well designed Solar array to our boat; to become one step closer to achieving "energy Independence" on the water, is very exciting. Thank you Matt and Kelly- I look forward to seeing you out on the Salish Sea.
Hi MV Mahalo Glad you enjoyed the content and that's great to see you found your way to our channel. Cheers from the West Coast of Canada and Danke for watching!!
Seems to be okay but I would recommend putting a bit of a bend in the middle so it doesn’t sag. Even though I didn’t do that, it works great! Thanks for watching and for the comment!
Awesome videos! Great information, going to do solar on our next boat and was trying to figure out best system for over Bimini 👍🏻 Can I ask what drone you film with? Thanks!
Hi Justin, Thanks and glad to hear you can put some of the information to use. I have been using the DJI Mini 2. There's lot of great drones out there but the mini 2 is nice because it's so small and quiet (doesn't get un-necessary attention). Also, much smaller capital investment incase it ends up doing an unwanted floatation test... Thanks for the comment and for watching the channel. Cheers!!
@@MVMakenaKai We are under contract on a new boat for our family, assuming the due diligence goes well we will definitely trying to mimic your solar set up, love it! With respect to the drone, makes total sense. My dad has the Mini 2, I was thinking of getting the air 2s and saw one in the background of this video, or at least the box so I was curious what you used. Thanks so much for the reply! I may reach out again if all checks out on our mew addition if questions arise. All your videos are so well done and informative, going to watch them all 👍🏻
Buying a new (to you) boat is always exciting, takes a few years to get the customizations done the way you want them. The solar is definitely one of our best boat project investments. I have used the Mini 2 for all my drone shots so far but I have just recently purchased the Air 2 (box you saw in the background) so I can get some active track footage, something the Mini 2 cannot do unless your a really great drone pilot. I have learned it is very difficult to fly the drone around the boat while in transit while smoothly keeping the boat in center frame. Looking forward to getting some great footage this year with the Air 2. Feel free to reach out again, the boating community is generally a helpful group. We always welcome comments, there good for the channel and great for getting video ideas. If you come up with the right question might have to make a video about it!! Nice to hear you enjoy the videos, on May 1st it will be one year since we published our first video. It has been a crash course over the past year considering how little I/we knew (almost nothing) a year ago about making videos and CZcams. Thank you for the compliments and appreciation!! Matt
This is practically completely worthless. Buch of talk, talk, talk, and barely showed anything of the actual installation. Especially with regard to the actual mounting of the panels on that frame.
Wow! You come off pretty insulting but perhaps that's just who you are. I might have expected some specific questions of interest but I guess not... For anyone with bit of DIY imagination, it's pretty easy to engineer such an installation. The real value here is the concept and a few of the components mentioned. If this is beyond your engineering ability I suggest you find a contractor to perform the work for you.
you could have shown the details of the installation but instead you chose a boring head shot while you spoke to everything. You didn't show any details of the panel installation, not even a full length shot of the horizontal runners of the frame. You didn't show the T connection, and you especially didn't show how you connected the panels to the frame. They should really get there money back for featuring your crappy video on their website. There is nothing anywhere explaining how you use the hey bolt in the narrow space beneath the panels. There, is that enough for you. Worthless.

Hi Kirk
Hope some of the details help you through your project.
If you see us out on the water, pop on by!
Cheers.

My new boat has a solar system now but I want to upgrade a bit (add more capacity). This helps me understand a few things. Thanks for the info!
Hi Andy
Adding capacity really makes a difference to boat life. Glad the information in the video helps you, hope your project goes well.
Thanks for all the great info. 🙏
Your absolutely welcome. Cheers!!
Very thorough and very informative. Love your rack setup.
Thanks!! Let me know if you have any questions. The setup does continue to work well.

How do you find longer Bimini tubes. My width is over 8’
