Jeremy definitely knew this.
He needed him for earlier but I guess he could have phoned a friend for that one or set his safety net at quarter of a million. If it was set at 125k or 250k I think he maybe would have gone for it
But would Jeremy have been sure enough for 1 million. Isn't the Isle of man tt a motorbike race. Jeremy despises motorbikes.
Koba he still would know
@@TheWeepingDalek I think Clarkson has a home on the Isle of Man
@@kob6912 he probably would. But it was the million pound question. I think he would question himself.
This show actually shows the contestants the question before they decide whether to answer it. How kind!
Yes you can walk at any time with the money you won unless you commit to a final answer.
That groan from Jeremy when the question popped up told me that he definitely knew it and Andrew would have been right as well
0:38 "Please tell me that one of your best friends is Stirling Moss,"
Stirling Moss passed away after this was filmed.
McLarenguy22 Ik, rip a legend
It was broadcast on April 12? So I assume the answer is Le Mans
Kurosaki Ichigo May 12th. it was broadcast on may 12th
@@NocnaGlizda the answer is the isle of man TT
If only he had ask Jeremy left he definitely would’ve knew that.
I am GUESSING although of course I might be wrong, that even if Jeremy did actually know the answer, I do not think he actually would not have been allowed to SAY that he was 100% sure of the answer if the player did have the lifeline available and needed to use it. (I am not from the UK so I do not know whether Jeremy knew it or not, (or whether or not he is allowed to say that he is certain of an answer regardless of the amount at stake, but i REALLY doubt that it would be allowed on a million pound question all I really know about him is that he is the current host of your version of this show and i think he hosted a show called "Top Gear"? BUT again, since I am not from the United Kingdom nor have I ever even been there on a vacation (or holiday as I believe you Brits call them, as do some Americans, but we for the most part choose to use the word "vacation".) I have never watched that show so I have absolutely no idea what it is about, (but I am going to guess that it is about auto racing or formula one, and that Jeremy must be a really big fan of auto racing since he is a former presenter of it. Assuming that he is indeed no longer the presenter of "Top Gear.")
damn no need to write a 500 word essay
Great contestant and I hope he enjoys his £500k
Only a Maniac would guess when they're not 100% sure of the answer. 1/2 million is just incredible !
Or a *cough cough* cheater
Unfortunately he didn't become our first million pound winner for the revived show.
Thank goodness it wasn't me answering that; I wouldn't have had a clue! Great performance overall from this contestant; he did wonderfully to get so far!
I'd rather have no idea in that position..take money and run
You could tell Clarkson really liked this bloke and wanted him to win. It made for great TV.
"Please tell me you know this." My reaction every time somebody reaches the million dollar/pound question
Man, was going for this to see a Million pound winner but man! Great contestant!
"Please tell me one of your best friends is Stirling Moss"
Stirling died last week. RIP
was more than a week ago now
This was filmed before the lockdown and obviously before stirling moss died
Damn, one of the few handful £million questions I’ve actually known straight away
I guessed the answer was the Isle of Man TT race, but I wasn't 100% sure, so I would have done what Andrew did and taken the money.
I wanted him to say “I’m going to walk away with the money” so I can say “gl with that”
It would have been so good if for call a friend he could just call Jeremy and literally Ask him 😂😂😂 it's one of those, if you know you know, but if you don't it's incredibly hard to guess. I assumed the TT, and I wouldn't have been confident enough to go for it.. And i was like 85% sure. Fair play
Itv did him dirty with that final question
I watched it tonight but I just realised he said about Sir Stirling. Still can’t believe he’s gone and I genuinely cried when I found out he died. A true pioneer for motorsport safety, and what you might not know is, he protested a penalty given to Mike Hawthorn at the 1959 season closer, which, if hawthorn got the penalty, Moss would’ve won, but because Moss protested the penalty, having seen the incident, Hawthorn won the World Title, and Moss became the best ever driver to never win a World Championship
I only thought it was the Isle Of Man TT because I’ve never heard of it before 😂
*coughing intensifies*
You've never heard of the Isle of Man TT?!? Wow...
I still wonder if his dad would've been able to come up with an answer, even if Andrew couldn't say "I don't need your help, I just want to tell you that I'm going to win 1 MILLION Pounds."
Chris Finch different person lad
This guy doesn't look like John Carpenter to me. Still, that would have been hilarious.
@@kob6912 Different person, yes, but almost the same sort of outcome when at the question, but walked away when the Phone-a-Friend couldn't come up with anything.
Well, I'd have pissed away a load of money on this one, I was deathly confident it was Indy. Knew Monaco and Le Mans started after the war, but in my mind I thought the TT was towards the later end of the 10's or into the early 20's.
I bet Murray Walker was at home shouting out the answer.
It's so often the case that I don't know the answer to a £16000 question about Macbeth and then when they get to the big money and there's a qustion about radar or motor racing or something I get it straight away.
I recall another contestant on half a million years ago who told Tarrant 'Yeah tell him' in a very devil may care way that I liked.
Nooo! Can’t believe it! Tbf, logically it does make sense. Personally, I can’t really see peeps in the early 20th century driving for 24 hours or the long duration of Indy 500, and with the F1 Monaco Grand Prix being in 1950, my instinct would’ve been D
Although your answer is correct, your logic isn't. I wouldn't have known this eventhough i knew 3 of the 4 answers. Had to look up when the tt was first held which was in 1907 so it was really close between it and the indy 500 which was in 1911. Le mans in 1923 and monaco in 1929 (f1 started in 1950 but the monaco gp was held a lot of times before f1 started) weren't too far off aswell
I knew the last answer......but not the couple before!
Literally just noticed that this guy was on impossible. It was on challenge today (10/6/20)
My heart was beating so fast.
Mr Entertainer My heart was melting for the poor man 😭 I hope his disability gets better
@@mxteorr2998 he has 500 thousand pounds. Half a million. I'm sure he is fine.
He looks like Sean Lock in the thumbnail.
I bet Clarkson’s pay for the show would be something like 500k
I too thought it was Isle of Man
Would’ve been relatively stuck between Indy 500 and the TT as my knowledge of the TT is very poor, and the Indy 500 I would’ve guessed started pre WWI, Le Mans/Monaco 1920s glad I wasn’t in the chair!
Joe Dyson same I would’ve gone with Indy
Same for me and I would have walked away, too.
I really like this programme. I am watching it every night. I really want someone to win the 1 million!
Smart man not playing for his ego
Surprisingly it's the IoM TT
3 came so close to the jackpot 😭
I'd guess the TT, but I wouldn't risk £500k on that guess!
Ah.. thought were were gonna have winner number 6!! Brilliant show and great fun to watch last night! Well done Andrew! Super tough question for the last one though! (And clearly we're running out of questions altogether - asking the Eroica one AGAIN? Especially when it was in another million pound winner's run! Bit lazy of the question writers... ) Anyway- brilliant win!
My heart was beating for the guy but great contestant.
i knew monaco was 1929, and Indy 500 was 1911 but in my defense he used his 50:50 on a question i knew
Please re-edit this to show the answer. Unbelievable.
Guessing would be worse than betting half a million on roullette.
Should've asked Jeremy if he wanted to be friends
Well done sir 👌👍 happy for him
Watched it on telly
I knew the answer amazingly. I was in the isle of man watching the TT in it's continual year in 2007
I was torn between the Indy 500 and the Isle Of Man TT, but I was edging towards the Indy 500...
I think Andrew is incredible with a half a million pounds and me and I was going to say is the history of Motorsport from the channel island and I think it's gonna be my dad's favourite sport show is Isle of Man TT was shown on air in ITV4 and I think it's gonna be Isle of Man TT final answer? :)
So close!!! Great contestant 🙂
What was the anwser
Little good having sterling moss as a phone a friend he just passed away 😮
My first and correct instinct was straight away that it was the Isle of Man TT race. While I was correct, I certaintly wouldn't have gambled the half million euro on it.
Pound Sterling, which makes it even worse!
He also Appeared on a game show Called !mpossible and Won £10,000
Probably the easiest 1 million question ever
Ingram Wilcox got the same Napoleon question at £250k when he won £1 million in 2006. Last night I knew the answer straight away as i'd watched his win a few weeks ago (albeit with different possible answers)
ドロップアウトも勇気ある決断ですよね。
Isle of Man TT
Thanks
I don't think it could of happened 2 a nicer man good for you enjoy
Where is this accent from? Scotland?
What was the correct answer, I think it is Indy 500 but not sure
WHATS THE ANSWER?! WHY DID YOU CUT IT OFF?!
Isle of Man TT.
Good morning!
thats the 5th million pound question I knew
Paul Harrison Apply to go on 😛
Didn’t know this one, but have known nine out of eighteen so far (although none since the ”bad question” about the US motto). Not a British citizen, though, so can’t apply! Doubt I’d even get that far anyway, they’d catch me out with questions about nursery rhymes and Coronation Street! 😂
Probably the only time ask the host would have went well
Jeremy helped him to £250k
His phone a friend should have been James may or one of the chasers in the chase. The beast has already been in this but that was before he became more knowledgeable. I'd love to see him and the other 4 go on this now. I think they would all be on at least the last 2-3 questions
Thought he was gonna do it.
Im so stupid because im not that into cars and i thought the isle of man TT was a race eith audi TT which is a recent car but dat was the answer :| lal
Its indy 500 if im not mistaken.. anyone has the same answer?
Phone a friend and get them to look it up on google? Easy
But that counts as Cheating
don;'t you hate it when you all a friend and he or she tels you i don't know the answer
Did anything think that he actually was going to win the million?
Not me because this was pre recorded around February or March and if he had won, it would have leaked so I knew he would go home with half a million. Some good contestants who actually know they're good and may go far should pick a phone a friend who is as good as they are. I was thinking why would he ask a woman a question about motor racing
@@mohammedfaiisal "why would he ask a woman a question about motor racing" shame to see the sexist cunts haven't disappeared in 2020. Get your head out of the 19th century.
@@DanTheStripe fact is men are more likely to know something about Motorsport though, let's be honest.
Yep I did
@Peter Phillips best thing to do was to ask his friends who is good at what topic and subject. I'm sure sport wasn't in hers. If he asked another guy I'm sure he would have known because I'm not into racing but I knew that answer mainly because of the process of elimination
What was the correct answer? I would've guessed C: Indy 500.
Instantly said Isle of Man TT before the answers were revealed. When the answers came up for the Monaco GP and Le Mans race, I knew they were both started in the interwar years and also knew the TT was 1907 as I ride bikes and being a fan have been several times to see the race in action.
...however when Indy 500 came up as an answer i wasn't so cocksure as i had not a clue about that race with it being an american motorsport (race in a circle? bleh). The TT being as early as 1907 though i might have thought it worthy of a punt.
What was the right answer?
The "friend" could easily find the answer in 6 seconds with a web search.
That's why the friend is accompanied by an ITV official to ensure fair play.
When was the last time anyone in the UK won £500,000 but not 1 million? I've only ever known it once before with a normal contestent.. Peter Lee 20 years ago! Other than that it was the llywelyn-bowens in 2006 who had TWO million pound questions because someone screwed up the question. That is IT as far as I know. Half a Million is rarer than a million! Anyone want to confirm or correct that?
Peter Lee (18th January 2000)
Kate Heusser (2nd November 2000)
John Randall (27th November 2000)
Steve Devlin (20th January 2001)
Mike Pomfrey (12th March 2001)
Peter Spyrides (10th October 2001)
Roger Walker (26th February 2002)
Plus last night makes 8, £500,000 winners vs 5 million winners.
was he on impossible?
The correct answer is D Isle of Man TT
If oooonly teqin whittok was in the audience
I know this

Oh and btw endemol, change the music back to the 1998 to 2006 format please. I know you have returned to something similar to that (after the 2007 to 2014 arcade version), but it's still not exactly the same anymore! And everything should be black behind the contestants for the million pound question. And the celebrations at high money should be longer and brighter lights the more they win! And the final musical chord for £1000 celebration music is meant to be slightly different to the one for the 2nd milestone (previously £32,000), but you've made them the same and now £1000 has too much of a sense of finality about it than it should (from just the 1 note change!) And.... look just hire the original guys who did the choreography and all the rest back again! - Did you even realise you had made all these changes or were some a mistake?!
Can someone tell me the right answer, please? 🙏
Isle of Man TT
I went to school with Andrew. He was well known for being able to fart on command. He would often fart and ask us to guess what he’d eaten at his last meal.
Who else watched this on Sky?
I feel kinda jealous. Jeremy Clarkson seems like a great host. However here in the States we're stuck with Jimmy Kimmel and the stupid "smartest person you know" gimmick.
Role Playing Garchomp what’s the gimmick do?
He's the main figure of Britain in my eyes
The Kobster 05 There’s a lot of weird things and gimmicks with this new American run. All the contestants are celebrities so apparently since there’s no ask the audience due to virus they let the contestants invite “the smartest person they know” to help them answer the first 10 of 15 questions. ($100 to $32,000) But afterwards the contestant can swap one of their remaining lifelines to bring back their companion for one of the last 5 questions. But sometimes it’s really inconsistent and the contestants will ask for their help without realizing the lifeline rule for the last 5 questions. There’s also a weird gimmick since the contestants are playing for charity that they’re guaranteed to go away with at least $32,000 even if they don’t get that far. Lastly there was a really bizarre moment where a contest was stuck on the $16,000 question and said final answer to a wrong answer but didn’t mean to so the producers changed her answer to the correct one and let her proceed to the $32,000 question even though she gave Jimmy Kimmel the wrong answer. Personally I am not a fan of the changes in the new American version but that’s just my opinion.
@@RolePlayingGarchomp445 I've seen a lot of trick questions on your show too. Not to mention 1/3 of the winnings go to tax

i like seeing people get it wrong and lose massive amounts of money.
notice also the contestants tend to come from jobs that are well paid, e.g. analyst, business owner, scientists, etc...?
why dont you ever see say a builder or unemployed person on the show?
notice also no contestant was black, majority white with only a couple of asians? why?
