It's technically a FOX movie. The Deadpool & Wolverine fanbases were already there before Disney bought the rights. I think that gave Ryan Reynolds a little pull on how the movie was made.

The trailer looked like fun. That's not something I can say about a lot of movies or even just their trailers nowadays. So I'm cautously looking forward to reviews for this one.
Pretty easy to sneak into the theater near me. No need to give iger more of a paycheck and feige credit for something he barely did anything on except probably telling Ryan what he can and cannot say

I see a lot of people in the comments saying they won't see this even if it's good just to punish Disney. I think that's misguided Disney has no reason to change its practices if every movie gets boycotted whether it's good or bad.

Or more importantly, "Spiderman: No Way Home." Sony may have made the movie, but Disney still distributed it and they should have had all the data from that. Maybe with two blockbuster data points verses the flopbusters they've churned out, someone up there will buy a clue.

If this one doesn't turn into an all screens scenario like we had with Endgame and No Way Home where we end up cancelling every other movie showing just to have all screens just showing one movie, I'll be surprised. We're even wondering if this might be a situation like we had with Endgame where the crowds were so dense, you couldn't see the lobby carpet from the projection floor.

Yep, this is out on it's own. It can't save the MCU. It should never have that weight added to it. Falcon America is not wanted. As long as it feels Fox, it will work just fine. If it feels Disney/Marvel, it's DOA.

Deadpool & Wolverine Advance Seating is Going Strong! (with a but)
Near me the AMC advance seating for Deadpool & Wolverine are Half Full for the 'upgraded' seats and showing like plush rockers, IMAX, etc. The general seating where they pack you in with the digital showing have sold barely any tickets. So basically the people who want to spend a few extra bucks, get good seats and upgrade their experience purchased 50% of the premium seats already.

If I run an ice cream shop, and to vary things up, I start to also sell hotdogs, I"ll present potential customers a choice: They can have iceceam, or hotdog. But not everyone has the stomach to have both. My hot-dog sales will in part come from, that is, canibalize, my ice-cream sales.
With current movies, we're looking at something the inverse - there have been next to zero palatable movies of late, one of the bigger notable ones being Godzilla Mjnus-One.
The analogy here is that the store has been selling rotten apples for months, and people are starving. Ow they've brought a crate of hot-dog-buns. People are gunna buy, but not because they're filling or good...

People will say it is impossible for an R rated film to reach this level of success.
It is worth mentioning that in 1991, Terminator 2 became the THIRD highest grossing film at the global box office, behind ET and Star Wars.
Deadpool & Wolverine opening with $250M DOMESTIC would position this film with a "Sky is the limit" type of performance.
The entire month of August is absolutely dead this year. D&W would have the easiest path to coast on the same kind of energy that "Barbenheimer" got last year...only this is ONE movie everyone is going to see.
And you have to think. Films like Avatar, Endgame and Oppenheimer are all 3 hours.
A film like Deadpool & Wolverine being just 2 hours will be able to get 3 shows for every 2 shows any of those 3 hour epics could fit into a day.
So on the theater side, the timing side in terms of the period of the year, the lack of competition....all of it is going to allow for D&W to climb as high as it wants at the Box Office.

When DP does "gay" it's hilarious tho. DP2 when Colossus tells DP "You always make it hard" and DP just turns and gives a pleading look to the camera - it's fcking genuinely hilarious. But in the second movie, they kinda implied the he was fully willing to blow a dude. Now Ryan Reynolds is pushing to have his character openly "pansexual" in the third film.

Not sure that’s going to happen. Deadpool was Ryan‘s baby and he was involved in all three. It’s a similar situation like No Way Home or Guardians of the Galaxy 3, where the original crew finished their trilogy.
But going forward, the MCU is still done by Kevin Feige and the people that did The Marvels and Quantumania. Not sure they have a good movie in them. Some Deadpool nostalgia isn’t going to fix this miraculously, same as No Way Home didn’t fix the MCU.
If this movie and Inside Out II are the big successes that they may turn out to be then that means they are wins for Bob Iger and *I DON'T LIKE IT WHEN Bob Iger WINS*

I don't want DEIsney or any of the higher ups to "win" either. But maybe, JUST maybe, if Inside Out 2 and Deadpool and Wolverine gross at least $1 billion each at the box office, that may be enough for DEIsney to wake up and realize prioritizing good stories with well developed, relatable characters over diversity, representation, and Wokeism is the formula to win back at least some of the disgruntled customers and, ultimately, to make a profit. Not holding out much hope, but it could happen.

They blew it, Peltz sold off Trian's DEIsney stock, and the stock prices plummeted. That's why I'm not holding my breath on DEIsney correcting their course anytime soon.
