- After 7 decades in Rock ‘n Roll, Rod Stewart has announced his retirement of his Rock ‘n Roll career and plans to perform Swing music with the Jools Holland Orchestra. According to a June 2023 interview with the BBC, Rod Stewart has made a stunning statement regarding the conclusion of his Rock n Roll career including live shows and will focus on the American song book.
This is sad news, but I guess all good things must come to an end..
Special thanks to Rod Stewart, Boy George and BBC Television.

Good for Rod! man is among the few genuine R&R icons still with us today.
He should have announced this in 1972. What a Tool

Just needs another booster.

One of my childhood heroes. Made such great and iconic songs. Amazing voice.
@chickendash6135Exactly!
Thank you so much Sir Rod you've worked hard enough giving us so much Great songs and performance's
Rod Stewart is apparently a man of good taste and rare self-awareness. He obviously still has enough on the ball to put out killer music in the direction he’s chosen. You can see genuine sadness on his face when he say “All things must come to an end,” but the key is the happiness and anticipation in his eyes when he talks about his next projects. Hope they’re great! +75,000 points on the coolness meter.
Loves music with passion. But when we lose passion, or maybe for what he's known for, energetic and great live performances, and wants to sort of reduce it, can be quite sad. He's a true professional as we know and he makes the right decisions when he feels the timing's right. No one's going to deliver exactly the same all the time. Maybe he feels his not upto it as much. I'd imagine this is like his baby, his child and that's so very dear to him. True performers know that.
He is very spiritual and practice mindfulness! It's why he is so sef-aware !!😊❤
He is an utter Tool
I love Rod he's a legend. But the jubilee gig was embarrassing. He should never had done Sweet Caroline.
@@robdee9341 He is a bell end who should never ever have been let near a stage in his
life!!
A big influence! Always loved his music. I'm thankful for him no matter what!
We love Rod, good for him, he's moving on! All of it was awesome and we thank him!🤗💖
Rod is 78 of age and looks better than many men in their fifties..❤
Good hair is the key to many advantages in life. Signed, Baldy.
Might look OK on.the outside its what is going on inside you get past 50 the clock really is ticking
I have to agree with you on that!
its called money.
Who is Rod Stewart's manager ?
Rod Stewart deserves all the applause, fame & respect he has. He's worked tirelessly over the years writing & recording some of the best known music for the last 30+ year's... I love his music the early years, the lavish 80's dance floor fillers & the honest, thoughtful less flamboyant but equally iconic song's that anyone can listen to, resonate with & enjoy.
He truly is a legend & although his performance will be missed, his musical legacy lives on 👍👍
Rod & George together actually makes sense, both unique in what they do yet united in the talent they share... I would love to see them perform 🤞 I get the chance ❤️😘
Rod Stewart was playing with the Faces at the end of the sixties
Hmm that’s when I thought I grew up in my teenage years Hmm
I remember the sixties
Have a great day
Cheers
Everything he did after 1976 was pure bosh.
Rock afficianados will tell you so.
He has produced nothing but pap for the lowest common denominator since then.
@EligarEsoo you can make money and still treat it as an art form.
His first 2 albums with Jeff Beck, his first 6 solo albums , his 4 Faces albums are all full of excellent music.
Try listening to them today , particularly the first Jeff Beck album Truth, his Every Picture Tells a Story solo album and The Faces A Nods as Good as a Wink album.
When he got passed Atlantic Crossing it was all over.
I'll ignore what the fawning blue rinse set think who once threw their moist panties at him on stage.
He became a mega star with zero musical credibility.
And since he became a Sir and pushed the jabs and the Ukraine war he became nothing more than a government shill.
@EligarEsoo I prefer progressive rock but yes Rod dabbled loosely in the art form at that time.
What a great career he's had, Bringing us a lot of great tunes.
I fell in love for the first time listening to "Sailing". Since that time i lways loved Rod Stewart.s songs.Sadly i never married my first love but was happily married with another guy. Yes Mr Sir Rod Stewart i was and still am one of your huge fans. God bless You
Amazing , with Jules Holland can’t wait , it will be brilliant. Thankyou for the Music . ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
That’s your decision Rod…you have entertained people for a long long time and now it’s your time to choose what you want to do…THANKS FOR THE MUSIC
Saw Rod in San Francisco, he rocked the house! My friend and I were up front and I’d swear the walls were moving! Still love him, still on all my play list. Heard him sing unaccompanied with his daughter during covid, lovely! Still sounds great. And, it has to be said, he gets more handsome and charming every year! Aging like a fine wine. 😘❤️🥰
Thank you Rod for more than 50 years of great music. You wear it well!
He’s an artist being an artist! Thank you for your service and dedication to music sir! Can’t wait to see you rock it out to the classics one last time August 1st! I got my ticket!👏⚡️
What a Tool he is
Saw him in 1969 with the JBG, will never forget it! Two of the very best on stage!!
Honestly didn't know I'd enjoy a live Rod Stewart show as much as we did recently! ... Truly a "Variety" show party atmosphere experience. And Boy George/Culture Club also great musicians still touring and playing wonderfully in their own right! TRUE artists of the musical craft.
Good for you, Rod! Nobody could top his rock work in '71-'73 ...... Have fun and let us hear it!
Early Rod was the greatest
Love that man, great man, great singer. All the best in yr next adventure. 🇨🇦
Thank you for all the music Rod!
Rod is a legend, so much energy still at 78. What a guy! And now changing genre, why not! Fairplay to him! 💙
Why not retire. People can't just change genre.
Saw Rod in 2019 at Hollywood Bowl guest starring Jeff Beck…what a show!
I felt a little guilty retiring at 65. Enjoy the little time you have left Rodney and thanks for the memories.
The hair stayed. That voice served him/us very well. It's time. You can't sing like RS forever. It was an incredible run.
Every Picture Tells A Story is the best there is.
A friggin Masterpiece.
It is a shitty album
I for one can’t wait to see Sir Rod in the next chapter of his life. I think it will be amazing.
I remember him at about 18 at the Marquee Club with Long John Baldry he weren’t much then
Based on Rod's energetic performance at the Jeff Beck Tribute Concert with Eric Clapton, I don't think he's totally done with rock. His swing period in 2005 was a huge success, so I can see why he wants to revisit that.
What a tool he ruined it
He tried to sing I Ain't Superstitious and almost succeeded. He is doing us a favor by "not singing rock"
I didn't know he was into swinging.. At his age everyone swaps the car keys for a Viagra pill and the chicks want paying.

Jealous much? How pathetic!
Well, I could imagine Rod singing trad ballads too, with a fiddle, a guitar and a pipe on a whole album. All I want anyway, as a fan since 1982, is to hear Rod enjoying what he does.
This makes me sad but I understand I to am ageing and will always love Rock & Roll ❤ you both thanks for all the great Rock music❤️❤️🌹🌹🤗
Still has that killer hair.❤ Rock on bro 😎
Rod was in one of the all time great bands of all time…THE FACES which to me was his zenith👍

He Is a Legend! Love him
When I was young I bought an 8 track of Rod's greatest hits. I wore that tape out! lol I loved it. Our family went camping one weekend and I slept in the canopy of my Dad's pickup. I wired in my 8 track player, crawled into my sleeping bag and listened to that tape half the night before I fell asleep. :) Rod is one of the guys who inspired me to learn guitar and play in bands.
Thank you Sir Rod Stewart for all the wonderful music and memories😊
He looks fantastic for 78. Bow out while you are young and enjoy life.
Sad....always been a fav of mine since seeing him in 1970 with the Faces
Wow, Rod Stewart is in remarkable shape! I am in awe.
He is a top guy with the most checky sense of humour and very proud of him. We are very lucky we have in the uk produced the best in the music business. We are the envy of the world.
78 and a full head of hair, you go Rod 🐾✌️🇺🇸
A full head of hair like my late granddad had. He lived to 95.
Well yeah, but he hangs it on the bed post each night.
@@kshepard52 thats messed up, does he ? 😆 I thought that was his real hair, pretty good toupee then oh damn that’s funny hangs his hair by his hat
Can’t believe Rod is 78.. A True Rock Legend
Kicked ass, made music we still listen to, and hung in there for a long, long time... certainly earned the right to do whatever he wants to do.
Gotta love Rod, especially the early days… with Ron Wood!!!!
Thanks Rod for the great music!! You’re Amazing!!!
Thanks DJ for that interview with rod. It's a little sad to see him moving on two other things but it's his life and his family he has to do what he has to. Thanks for your for everything rod, like He said it had to end somewhere sometime. The same goes for all of us. Definitely he is one of a kind going to miss him doing what he does. Thank you for all the great stuff I support everything you're going to do. Enjoy your life my friend and thanks again for everything. God be with you and yours brother. See you soon.
At his age who could blame him. I mean he conquered rock and roll since the 70s, and now he is in his 70s.
Saw Rod live a few times back in the 80's, great gigs. Also never seen so many beautiful women, all in one place, all at the same time, as at, one of his concerts
Luv Rod in anything he does!❤
A Rock legend but who also, although divorced a few times, remains on good terms 1:35 with his ex’s and looks after his many children. A good father and family man.
Forget the 1:35 - I don’t know why that appeared!
78, the man looks fantastic. A legend.
He gave us so much, all my respect for his decision.
Yes he did give so much. So much utter CRAP
@@user-ih9dg3uz5y Don't expect more from pop music, the real utter crap is today's music. At least Rod had a dozen of good songs in his career. For the rest he was only doing his job in order to get paid by the record companies...

Good for you Rod. We'll miss you but you deserve your remaining time. ENJOY!
Loved Rods early career one of my first Albums when I was a kid was Every Picture Tells A Story. But saw him in Vegas in 2015 , Faces Reunion similar time and at IOW later and his Rock Voice was struggling. So glad he made this decision to protect his legacy.
I love Elvis and Rod Stewart. I saw Elvis once but I have been to 14 concerts of Rod's. Both are 2 of the greatest singers ever. 😍😍
I saw Rod in Kansas City several years ago. I've never forgot it. Blessing to Rod and the future.
I was blessed to see him in concert 3 times.❤❤❤
15.00 Rod you're a wonderful singer, performer and such an honest person. Seen you live lots of times & love all your interviews & your " early history" prog. Thank God for Long John Baldry! Keep on singing 🎉😅
You cannot leave it behind Rod, its part of you, of us.
Rod is a true legend!!
Oh well, we’ve heard all this before from aging rock stars… the fire is still there but not nearly as bright as it used to… good for him… go elsewhere with the “songbook”… after Never A Dull Moment there was nothing as well rounded and complete as that… after that came some great memorable songs and blasts from the past but no releases that I would call classic as a whole… early Rod the Mod will always have a place in my heart… Rod today is more for the rocking chair crowd… the early Faces work and the Mercury years: awesome stuff! Still play, still love it.😊
I thought it was over anyway . . . and not just by judging the 'quality' of his recent release of 'tunes'.
Rod the mod most awesome thanks for all the good Tunes and the good times been listening to you for a long time 62 years old in 2023 best wishes to rod
Well done. Stepping down when you can still hold a note is admirable. McCartney should have done that 25 years ago.
All credit to Rod he survived a industry that many don’t
True Legend, if he says no more rock n roll, then so be it! I will continue to play his songs!
Nice to see Rod Stewart finally getting the recognition he deserves.
We love Rod! Great person and one of the most talented singers ever! ❤
Wow who wouldn’t want to have had the great rod Stewart’s life 👍god bless him
What an amazing career Rod has had, and continue to have with what ever he does. What a shame not to have seen him play live.
he's not dead you still could lol
😊
I'm SO GLAD I was able to see him in concert in London Ontario in 2022
With recent output like "Didn't I" and "One More Time" I'd say it's way past time for Rod to call it a day.
Thanks for the memories
Rod's great rock career ended decades ago. He's still a rock icon in my eyes but he went full pop in the seventies. He made a rock album about 18 years ago but it was unremarkable.
MTV unplugged was pretty good.
Thanks for the memories! Enjoy your retirement!
I'm really glad to have seen him on concert, Roanoke, Virginia back around 1973 or 4. A great memory now.
Glad I got to see Rod in Madrid 1983. Great concert.
I saw Rod Stewart in Vancouver in 1970. It was the first official concert that I ever went to. And he's always had a special place in my heart.
Very cool if he helps George get going again
Respect both these guys
Thanks for all the memories Rod Stewart!
THANK YOU AND TAKE CARE !
I liked Rod's music in the early days. I would not classify it as rock though.
I saw you LIVE! Thanks....
Good decision dear Sir Rod! Take it easy Sir, we are very happy you will still singing for us❤️❤❤

Rod Stuart is a legend! and a true popular music hero. I had the privilege of meeting and sharing a dressing room with Rod in about 1964/65 (he wouldn't remember though) when he was just an aspiring vocalist/front man for a local Southampton band 'The Soul Agents'. Rod was great, unique voice and one thing really stood out for me was just how his song phrasing matched that of the late, great Sam Cooke. If you listen to any of Sam Cooke's recordings you can 'hear' Rod Stuart. Obviously a major influence in the development of Rod's singing style. Seen him live many times over the years, USA tours also and he never failed to deliver the goods. Well done Rod and thanks a million for the music. A fan.
I think if I went to see his tour he’s on now with George .I didn’t hear my Rod Steward favs …I’d be so heartbroken! I’d probably stroke out! Seeing him live has been on of my dreams since the first time I saw him in 1972!

He doesn’t look or sound 78 at all. Good for him. Knowing when to stop is important.
Stick him in a flat cap and same cloths as old people normally wear in the corner of a Witherspoon's pub and he would got a face like a dried up river bed. Plus never had to work all his life like most 78 year olds. Singing and shagging models is hardly stressful is it.
I saw Rod in Phoenix the other night and what an amazing show! Born in early 80’s and his music is my childhood. I cried when he walked on stage. I was so overcome with unexpected emotions. Thank you Rod for the music, memories, being an amazing artist and person.
