For some reason I thought there were supposed to be way more skills. But my top skills are Charisma so I have more interactions with sims. Cooking bc my sims cannot live off quick meals although leftover birthday cakes definitely keep the household fed. And Athleticism for my unattended sims so they have something to do on their free time ☺️

I mean, there is a bunch of secret skills, where a lot of those again could more or less just as well have been an actual skill too

When my sims get to teenagerhood, I almost immediately give them 1 charisma skill, then later it will develop with EVERY interaction they had with other sims. High charisma is always useful.

I'm such a career oriented sims that I never learned Charisma skill cause unless I'm looking for a spouse, I never socialize with people.

I never have my sims learn social netowrking skill intentionally but I swear they love using their phone autonomously so they always end up gaining a few levels. It also rises quite quickly when you sned text messages

I realize that pet and store skills are some of my favorites. I love the equestrian skill, artisan crafting, and gambling skills. Photography is probably my all time favorite!

I need to utilize the nectar making and drumming skill more. I always have my sims do writing, painting, guitar skill mostly.

You are neglecting the most essential element of sims learning an instrument: vibe

Couple of things you missed about some of these skills:
Martial Arts is a moneymaker once you max it out, every rock you break drops a gem. With the ability to cut gems yourself you can feed the alchemy skill with your dust and sell the gems for cash.
Invention lets you invent a mining machine. Inferior to breaking space rocks as a martial artist, but worth noting
Social networking allows you to spawn new sims with desired traits out of thin air or literally set any relationship except married for any two sims. It can replace the charisma skill entirely for its day to day use, and it can also use it to quickly reach friend counts to break through charisma limits. Not just for the sim who learns it though, but for ANY sim that sim knows. Pretty strong IMO.
Alchemy is among the best skills in the game. Science can clone any ingredient no matter how rare. Science isn't top tier but it is kinda useful for that purpose.
Lastly, Nectarmaking can give some crazy positive moodlets. +50 or more mood in a glass of which you make like 12 at a time. If you happen to already be taking gardening, consider nectarmaking as what you do with your produce instead of selling produce directly.
That doesn't push any of these to "Always get" but you might find them more useful than you initially thought.

I forgot about the inventing skill! One of my favorites. At level 5 you gain the ability to detonate things which is super fun

I always use gardening, it's my favorite skill in the game. Another I use almost always that sorta happens naturally is handiness, painting and cooking.
I love the writing skill and fishing skills as well, and also have fun with the athletic skill. I also want to challenge myself to do the photography skill journal but there's so many subjects to take it would take a long time lol.
I recently started a sim learning the social networking skill, which has been a bit slow but fun.
I've mastered the inventing and sculpting skills which are super lucrative and fun as well as the necter making skill.
I don't ever use the street art skill or ITF skills or the bass and drums, usually the piano and guitar lol.
Loved this video, would love to see a career one or a self employed one :)

Interesting, and definitely geared to your playstyle. For me, I usually play a single young man. I also play at a hair above half speed using NRaas' Relativity, so the times, while long, aren't that long in sim-days. I use an epic lifespan with 80 day years and about 800 days max life (which, of course, I'll never make). Day 1 I immediately head to the library and read until 10 AM when sims start arriving. I read Charisma, so I have lvl 1 when the sims show up and I start with the charming relationships. With any extra time I'll read Handiness, hopefully to lvl 1 by the time I leave the library and pick up some groceries, which is for cooking, of course. So for me, the basic start is Charisma, Cooking, Handiness.
Next depends on the type of sim. If he's an artist, he'll paint. A writer, he'll start a book. Btw, I believe writing is the most lucrative skill in the game. 7K+ per week in royalties can be expected at max lvl. And if he's gonna be a musician, I'll start with bass ('cause I'm a bassist...lol). I also have Xix Hammer, who's a P.I., so he's got a completely different skillset. Xix Freegear does the Inventing and Sciencey stuf.
You've defined your playstyle as a much more family-centric playthrough, while I start single and maybe build up a family, but it's not my main goal. My main goal is to be able to afford the 8-bedroom "Blue Domes of Santorini" (a wonderful item of CC from, I believe, TSR). I've yet to succeed. O_O Thanks for another fun vid.

My toddler/child sims always max the skills they can get so when they're older those skills jump to level 3. Music box: Bass, Guitar, Drums, Piano. Peg box: Logic. Bunny: Charisma. Activity table: Painting and Handiness (children). Mini stove (children): Cooking and potential money maker.
When they're teens, I try to get them in the optimal after school clubs to raise their skills. Usually I try to get them in Music Club so they can raise all Music skills at once. If they're in a world with subway stops, they can earn some serious money playing for tips. If we're living in Bridgeport, there's a cheap apartment with a subway stop on property so they can play all night and not break curfew. Or I could just plop down a subway stop on any lot.
I also make everyone jog everywhere whenever they can so they can beat that skill challenge and live longer. When there's a new baby, everyone teen and up should take the baby on strolls around the neighborhood so their relationship builds up really fast and the baby gets energy.

I always have my sims learn the nectar making skill at some point lol, typically when they retire. It just feels like something an elderly sim would take up when they have a lot of spare time. Can also be a pretty good investment when you’re doing a legacy challenge since the bottles increase in value over generations.

    Cjplays,
I think if you have an academy and Chinese garden with the required skill objects in your world, sims outside of your household will autonomously learn the kung fu skill and you can challenge sims in your home world to a martial arts tournament

I aaalways do charisma, guitar and painting. Especially did guitar in the very beginning because in the sims 3 trailer it showed how you can start by playing in the park to earn money and then become good enough to ride limos haha. Love these type of videos!

Interesting!! I'm kinda boring with skills haha. My sims typically learn everyday skills such as cooking, logic, handiness and gardening. I don't touch bot building or alchemy, but I'll consider it now! Great video as always :)

I always build base game skills, and the further down the line I use the EP skills less and less, especially they don't relate to any careers.. I sometimes have my Sims learn instruments skills. Into the future I almost never bother to learn lol.

They only really learn Cooking and Handiness, unless they need a skill for work.

  • @ronniacherry

for the social media skill and career - there are many income opportunities with this skill. same with writing. you can make nearly $100k per week in royalties so don’t sleep on that one.

  • @ESC_Thomas
    @ESC_Thomas Před 9 měsíci

I do agree so much with you for painting and writing. Writing skill is soooooo long to up and writing books takes so much time all this for low royalties for the first books. So it's hard to start a game and make money as a writer sadly. And painting as you said it takes time to get decent money from painting at beginning

  • @judialbert1349
    @judialbert1349 Před rokem

There are some skills I don't think I could avoid if I wanted to. For instance, with all the broken plumbing problems, I always have my sims try and fix them on their own without a handyman. My sims ALWAYS get a want to learn the guitar - not the other instruments so much but guitar always comes up. If I dismiss it, they ask for it again, and again. Logic and cooking are hard to avoid. I just learned about the value of simbots as I never played ITF much until I started playing my version of the LEPacy challenge, so I was surprised that you ranked it at the top. Thanks for another interesting video. It's fun to see other's playstyles.

  • @elderscrollsswimmer4833

Weird that as much as you like relationship, you did not like soecial networking. Blogging may get some money, but It is level 5.. Have a sim of your chosen traits and gender come meet you. Not to mention level 7 making any two sims friends.
