      Me too. This is ahuge pain in the ass. All I want to do is print 1-2 pages PER MONTH. And I've spent hours dealing with EPSON's bullshit.

      Purchase The Epson 15000 tank no cartridge The only secondary thing that you have to buy is $9 maintenance box That's something that you have to buy for a lifetime but You can buy a$15 bypass for the maintenance box now all you have to do is by the ink no ink cartridges because it's a tank You buy one big bottle of refill ink

    I've spoken to one of the companies that remanufactures cartridges and they say that Epson has included in their latest firmware updates the inability to use the printer with any ink made by any other manufacturer. My printer is now disabled if I use anything but original Epson print cartridges. The remanufacturer is refunding my purchase as there is no work around to fix this. I've used remanufactured ink for years, but can't any more. I heard there was a class action suit be brought against Epson around this.

      I've got OM ink and I just started having this issue on a nx430 after printing 20 pages on Monday. It was practically a new cartridge too and I don't print too often

      There seems to have been several class action lawsuits but they never went anywhere. Now Epson is suing companies that are offering third party/remanufactured ink cartridges. Honestly the best option right now would probably be for everyone to dump there printers at the Epson main office and purchase a different brand. That way they can deal with the e-waste themselves. Even if you don't buy there products they really won't care until they go out of business and have to deal with the actual trash they are selling to people.

      It would seem that you have to cancel the Auto Updates in the printer settings so I've read. When first setting up the printer in the latest models because in the the Auto Updates Epson include this feature to lock you in to buying their Ink. It's not only Epson but Canon and HP are doing the same thing, so I believe. This type of sneaky practice needs investigating by a Monopoly Commission.

    Not one of these methods worked at all. What should I do now? It's not recognizing the yellow ink cartridge. Could it be that the cartridge is just completely empty, bone dry?

      Is it aftermarket ink? Epson sends out regular firmware updates that prevent using non-epson ink. I'm finding that out right now.

      @@jkalberer Yes, it was aftermarket ink I was using. It turns out that the yellow cartridge's metal contacts were dead, and not being recognized by the printer. I got some new cartridges (after market again), and it's working fine. I got the usual message that I wasn't using genuine Epson ink, but I was able to bypass that. Yea, I know they try to prevent the user from using non-genuine inks, but I have been using EasyINK remanufactured cartridges for years with very few problems.

    Epson is smarter than that. Today, December 19, 2023, this does not apply to a WF 7840 with the latest software update. It can tell when the ink cartridge is non-Epson original

    When turning the printer off the cartridges container will get back to its place and can't be open when the printer is turned off. How can I perform method 3?

    I can't even use the scanner because the yellow ink is empty? This is really messed up - I will never buy another Epson product.

    In method 3, I can't reinstall the cartridges before plugging the power cord back in, because when I turn off the printer, the ink cradle returns to default position which makes it inaccessible.

    Can’t reinstall while printer is off because the print head moves where the ink can’t be installed. All these suggestions are fake.

    Are you running windows nt or something? Windows 10 looks nothing like this and those options don't exist.

    Printer is a disaster. This thing with the ink is intentional to get people to come back to buy ink constantly. I could not locate a Maintenance tool on the menu or on my pc printer preferences menu. Epson website very poor. This is one of those bottle type inks.

    Oh my GOD - this video is sooooo slow, deliberate and plodding from one minute action ('step X - move eyeballs slightly left' - step X+1....) watching this made me want to scream my head-off, run outside with my printer, throw it on the ground and kick it all around the garden before setting fire to the crappy thing. This video should carry a health-warning about raising the blood-pressure whilst watching possibly the most tedious video in the known Universe... Just-saying....
