Looking forward to more stuff like this ,I don't feel that allot of the historical aspect or history of the weapons is often transmitted by instructors
I've heard the Kusarigama was, in some cases, used by Samurai in siege/castle defense situations, where the defender could stand atop the wall and strike down at attackers scaling the walls with the chain and weight as well as put the blade to good use when an attacker got within range. Can you speak on this?
Never heard of it, and do not see how it could work effectively. You would think that sort of story would be written in one of the dozens of articles on the weapon in Japanese I have read.
I got value out of this! In your translation of the Bansenshukai, there is mention of equipment besides weapons that a ninja would carry on a mission. I would be very interested in learning more about the equipment carried on ninja missions.
Very interesting Don and thank you for sharing your knowledge

Thanks for sharing your decades of scholarly research and intensive training!
