Caught some great redfish and was lucky to get out unharmed. Snagged a big gator - thought it was a tree stump - until it came to life when I was trying to free my lure.
All in 2 feet of water!!

Another great day of catch'n! Dulac has been treating you very well huh! I would say you over there on my stomping grounds but I don't stomp as good as you😂. Always fun to play with the gators every now and then. The gator population to me is a little out of control. Wish they would give a tag or two when you get a fishing license. Great job! 🎣🎣🎣
Thanks a lot as always! Yes for sure lots of gators. They are sitting up there on the marsh grass. Glad they’ve been spooking early and going in before I get too close. And really glad that snag didn’t come back to haunt me.
You definitely have some great stomping grounds out there. If I lived closer I would be out there all of the time!

Dang gators!! I don't have much use for them. The ones that mess up your fishing or the ones that play sports out of Florida......
Haha. Good point!! I’ve had plenty of battles with those Gators out of Florida during a long coaching career in the SEC and ACC. I actually prefer these gators better. As long as I stay in the kayak!

Scary and dangerous when gator gets close to the kayak. He can flip you easily even on accident. My wife had one take her popping cork down and just before I cut the line he let go. Nice fish as usual.
Yep I was very lucky that gator seemed to intentionally avoid the kayak. Easily could have come straight up and knocked me out of the kayak for sure. I learned a lesson there - not going to assume a snag is always a stump from now on.
So fortunate… and able to catch so many nice reds despite the gators. Love that place.

Been there done that with gators lol, what spinner you using?
An interesting hook up! Glad for the safe release… for both of us!
Z-Man Bullzeye spinner - 1/8oz. usually with a Tiger Bait Matrix Shad or black and chartreuse Deadly Dudley or Down South Lure jig hooked on. Fun and easy to fish… and still have/get to set the hook when they bump it! Order from Bass Pro online. Often they are out of stock but replace frequently enough.

Nice catches there and I would always carry a gun with me not that I would have to shot a gator but you never know if you get one that is aggressive on you
