True! Also, he mentions begging a lot of commanders, but if you take the range finder off and swap the officer legs to a heavy trooper, you make yourself a standard trooper.
I think it's also important to note that these sets absolutely go together. Only a minority of the 332nd had orange helmets, and most just looked like the greater 501st. So you can and absolutely should mix these guys together in battle scenes and all that. They all look great together, and make sense to put together.
Basically if you got an Ahsoka and Anakin and mix the 2 groups together in a setup vs droids you are good to go. It will look just great. In particular if you got the CIS tank set. Which came with 1 332nd trooper.

Finally! Someone who is not nitpicky about the helmet holes. I already have 2 501st specialist battle packs. Can’t wait to get the 332nd battle pack. For the Vaughn minifig, all I have to do is switch the visor from orange to red.

@@Tijsdr Red doesn’t look good to me either. On Vaughn the orange is a bit darker than what LEGO printed. So the orange visor they use blends well. I think the red would look good had LEGO gone with a blood orange for the Ahsoka print.

you can make default 501st clones by putting the specialist or officer helmets on the 332nd trooper
Honestly, the biggest downside to the current clones for me is the lack of waist cape. Other themes have them, and they look better than printing imho. Both sets look great though !

What I like about this is that I have 1 regular 501st with the regular body so I can get 2 332 battle packs and get 1 extra normal trooper and 1 Vaughn
Good point about all the criticism. It cracks me up how upset people get. They’re Lego figures for goodness sake. There are other options if you’re looking to buy something super accurate.
Can you please make a 332nd specialist batllepack using the 332nd and the 501st specialist batllepack?
Tbh while the figs aren’t perfect I’m annoyed with the constant clone criticism to the point that I just tune it out most of the time now. It’s not that I totally disagree, I just find it disingenuous and repetitive.
I still can’t wrap my mind around the helmet holes being such a massive deal. People expect a whole new visor piece that would work with the holes being in the correct spot on the helmet, comparing the piece to customs and basically forgetting that this is Lego and they hardly ever change molds, they mostly just change the prints. Oh, and when they do change molds, people complain.
People complain about the visor piece being bulky and inaccurate… on a square figure proportioned like a human infant. The visor pieces are fine. If you want something sleeker and fancier with a little antenna on one side, go buy a custom, they look great but IMO they look very obviously not aesthetically Lego.
Also people gloss over the fact that new visor and helmet molds that change the position of the pins/holes would retroactively make old helmet accessories less compatible with new helmets and vice versa, which is a no go for me since they’ve made them in so many colors over the years and they’re not just going to drop all those colors again for new accessory molds at once, if ever. I personally like the backwards compatibility with old accessories.
To illustrate my point, since I’m buying multiple of the new pack for army building, I’m going to have one “main” Vaughn that is more accurate with a dark red visor and blue arms (like I said, the figs aren’t perfect) and turn the rest into jet troopers and ignore the tiny rank insignia. If the holes were lower on the helmet, I couldn’t use my old dark red visors from the ARC trooper to do this. I also couldn’t use old black visors to further customize my several 501st officers, or also use the new rangefinder piece on other helmet molds if the piece was made to fit different hole placement, and so on. Backwards compatibility is a gift for customization.
That being said, if I had it to do over when they made the new helmets, I personally would have just done away with the circles under the helmet holes that are where the “accurate” holes would be, but are just useless circles, and keep the same accessory pieces. The holed helmets would look slightly different than the old helmets, but they already do anyway, because the hole, so all it would do is make the molds look a little cleaner. And without the redundant circle, I don’t think anyone would have complained about inaccuracy. But overall, I really don’t care. It’s a pin hole on what is at the end of the day a tiny plastic toy for children.
So to me the constant fever-pitch whining about clone minifig accuracy on CZcams and Reddit is honestly just ridiculous. It may have started out with honest, well-intentioned criticism, but let’s be honest here, it’s become massively overblown because it’s 2023 and we’re all terminally online and everyone has to have an opinion on everything (typically a critical one parroted by enough other people that it doesn’t feel like too hot a take for comfort).
If it were 2010, only a handful of people would care while most people wouldn’t even think about it because there wouldn’t be a massive attention-seeking backlash bandwagon spreading like wildfire in the online Lego Star Wars community.
Like the figs or don’t like the figs, I’ll respect your individual opinion, but when we have such a massive amount of people complaining while still buying duplicate sets all over the place anyway, to me that just shows that the flaws aren’t actually a big enough deal for those people to put their money where their mouth is, and instead they’re just complaining to complain, because it’s the internet in 2023 and a bunch of people repeating the same tired points every chance they get so that other people on the bandwagon agree in the replies, while offline the vast majority of them continue eagerly purchasing the products while not really caring all that much in real life, is just the typical herd mentality validation-seeking internet “discourse” that goes on about literally everything no matter how minor.
In short, opinions are fine, but when they’re exclusively in online comment sections and don’t extend into real life in any tangible way, something like this being such a massive and inescapable “thing” in the community that is everywhere you go, is just annoying to me. I just wanna look at Lego sets man, not hear the hundredth guy in a row say the same minor criticism I just heard the previous 99 shoehorn into every Lego Star Wars-related conversation they can.

Edit: I display the minifigs and sets in a battle, where I throw them on a baseplate and add a few pieces to make the illusion of a battlefield, and most are in vehicles.
I think the 332nd is the best of all time- special figures, but all can be normal trooper to army
I love both of these , got 4 of each, they definitely go together since anakin leads the 501st and Ashoka leads the 332nd , two dope sets I’ll be sad when they retire
I like both Sets. I have a few of the 501st battle packs and just love them. I'm excited about getting the 332nd Battle pack, can't wait till August 1st so I can get my hands on a few!!! The helmet holes don't really bother me at all. As for who else I'd like to see - Fives, Jesse and Bly.
Ya I’d love a Rex y-wing. I think there would be a good chance we could get a season 7 Jesse in that set, which would be sick. And I hope we get Bly in 2025. And fives is my favorite clone so I’d love him too

Honestly Both are good for arm my building.I don’t care about helmet holes, But A lot of people hate it. I Buy a lot of these, And even make some custom Alternate builds
I really want a bunch of the 332nd because I can mix pieces to get regular 501st troopers and I can convert some of my hoard of specialists into 332nd to kinda even things out. I’m a big fan of the swamp speeder, yes it’s a bit small but I can actually use it in my collection, I am lookin at a nice replacement for that AV-7 cannon because let’s face it that cannon was kinda garbage in the specialist battle pack. I still really wish the figs were 327th because I’ve been trying to build an army of those to help my lonely republic bricks Bly, but the 332nd is definitely a smarter move for Lego. Unfortunately I got fired from my job a few months ago because they found out I was homeless(still kinda pissed off about that, but it’s fine because I was the only person that wanted to work there anyway) and haven’t been able to find a new job, I’m trying to enlist into the marines, but I’m pretty sure the set will retire before I have the opportunity to buy a bunch. I think I might be able to convince a friend to buy some and hold on to them until I’m ready and I can hopefully buy them off him, idk haven’t asked yet. Still gotta get accepted into the marines. My collection is currently disassembled and I’m storage but once I’ve got my life together I plan to build it even bigger. I really liked the republic fighter tank, it was an alright build and the 187th troopers are awesome. Say what you want about not being canon or whatnot, I’ve never seen such good lookin troopers. Yes doom legion be lookin cool, and yes Wolfpack is still my favorite, but no one looks snazzier than my bois in purple, wish I could get more.

You won’t change your mind. I already have it. The thing that makes 332nd good is scalability. Other than that, the 501st is better since that type of pack is what the helmet holes are intended for. The helmet print suffers on the 332nd because of the holes.
You can get 4 if you put the 501st helmets on the 332nd bodies
