you can hold UP or DOWN while slashing. especially when the mantis lords use their horizontal dash, you can jump and press DOWN + slash; if it hits the boss, you will bounce up - this technique is called "pogoing", which is very satisfying to execute

The mantis lords do give you a reward, they give you a lot of geos and an INCREDIBLE charm, you just missed the room with the reward, Search better in the mantis village and you'll find it (and remember, breakable walls are everywhere). That dark area that you just bought the map of (the deepnest) is the biggest area yet and it's also the most hated, not because it is actually a bad area, it's fantastic, it just is... Scary and weird. For the lantern you don't "need" it to get to the crystal area, there are other ways to get there, but those ways require you to explore better the city of tears either for geos (it has A LOT of geos that you still have to find) or for a certain item, either way I'd say that it is a good time to explore the city of tears (but still buy the lantern as it will be needed in a lot of areas). Do you remember the bug that sold you the notches? She also sells the "shaman stone", it is arguably the best charm in the game as it gives a HUGE boost to spells damage, making them way better then the nail for most of the game (nail upgrades aren't as important as you might think as, for example, while they boost your nail damage let's say from 4 to 6, so 50%, it also increases boss health of 35% (i don't remember the exact values), so while nail upgrades are still an upgrade, spells will simply do way more damage except in the very late game where spells and nail builds are pretty much equal. Now that I've said all of this, Great video, i look forward to your next video, hollow knight or not!
Thanks for the advice! I think I already have the shaman stone but don't think I got the rewards in mantis village... I might have to spend some time backtracking!
@@the1stlimerick (as "nail upgrade" i mean when you went to the blacksmith) it's absolutly still an upgrade and it's a good thing to do, just know that spells are much more powerfull so spamming them is never a bad idea if you are in a skecthy situation

Nice job defeating the Mantis Lords. A lot of the comments already addressed stuff but if you want to find a new area you can actually. Go back to the place you found that miner buy and head up the elevator then use the new spell you got from Soul Masternto break the shaking ground there.
The thing you collected not the mask shards those round things you collect are vessel fragments these are very usefull they create extra pockets for soul you collect and there are 3 of those pockets if you collect all of those vessel fragments you get 3 of those pockets and 2 avchements 1 for completing the first one and 2 for getting the final one
You missed the rewards given when you beat the Mantis Lords, it's somewhere in the area before the Boss Arena. As for the lantern, I'd say you should save up a bit for it if you want to explore Deepnest soon, as it is *crucial* in some areas there. And if you plan on using Spells, I'd recommend getting the "Shaman Stone" Charm from Salubra (the lady that sells Notches), simply one of the best Charms in the game, it's also good to use with "Soul Catcher". That aside, great video!
@the1stlimerick I'm currently fighting a really hard boss. My throat is sore, so i have no voice to cry suffering I play on mobile, so it's 100 times harder to beat I wanna carve its death animation into my retinas once i beat the rocks out of its socks.
Charm-wise I would say that the baldurs shell is not that good, if you think you are going to use your spells more then I would highly recommend the shaman stone, it is one of the best charms in the game, and if you think you are going to use your nail more then you should go back to the mantis village for a reward that you missed, also one of the best charms in the game. The gift is small, but trek is long, if you get hurt amongst le journey or ride those transid beasts attempting to get to che's grave that lies in the queen's lush refuge, will break it. Is it too much for Le'mer to ask? *delicate flower aquired*

For first nail upgrade, nail damage are from 5 to 9.
I'm not looking at the wiki or anything so idk what the upgrade is... But we take those? 🤷
