Disney's finally showing Oswald some love! Hell yeah, not since Epic Mickey have I been so glad to see him. True to the 20's era he spawned from.
Epic Mickey should not have flopped. Hopefully they'll revive the duo in 2023
I personally feel if Epic Mickey had a better control system it wouldn't have flopped cause it was awesome, just a little annoying to deal with it

@@crysomemore2335 Agreed. Epic Mickey's story was amazing! But the gameplay was okay. I still think Disney should give the Epic Mickey series another chance. Epic Mickey is how I know who's Oswald the Lucky Rabbit is as a character. I didn't know Oswald was Walt Disney's first cartoon character, and love how the game explains the world of forgotten Disney characters, now that's interesting if you ask me! But unfortunately, the Epic Mickey series got canceled, and Disney decide to not continue it. But who knows, maybe Disney will give the series another chance in the future.

I love this animation, not only do we get to see Oswald again since Epic Mickey, but in a proper classical short. Thank you Disney!
It's kind of heartwarming how, in his own way, Oswald is just as related to Yakko, Wakko, and Dot Warner as he is to Mickey Mouse. He's a bridge connecting distant cartoon siblings from different studios and different eras.

Technically shouldn't this be a Julius the Cat short considering he was the OG cartoon icon before Oswald, and the Disney character who is turning 100 this year.

Not really a big brother as much as an earlier creation from Walt that got lost in an ownership dispute (See Disney's Early History for reference. Better yet, look up the 2016 Biopic Walt Before Mickey)

You guys have no idea how much this makes me happy! To see a long lost family member of the Disney family back home and getting his first short film done in his own papa’s film business. Walt, would be proud to see this!
Disney is finally showing Oswald some affection! I haven't been this happy to see him since Epic Mickey. He's a throwback to the 1920s.

@@AutisticJoker88 I mean yes, but we want something new and fresh. They literally traded a real person for the rights to the character but didn't use it after so many years, so this is the moment that Disney does something about it.
So sweet to see this rabbit in his own cartoon again! Hopefully this means we’ll perhaps get more Oswald cartoons wether it be shorts or perhaps a full series planned once more! Whatever happens I love to see more Oswald content. Thank you to all the animators and workers who worked on this short but charming cartoon.

@@CosmicSponge2004 You can't use it for your branding, that's what trademark does, so you can't name your cartoon Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, but you can call it Flying Ears or something and have it starring Oswald the Lucky Rabbit I believe. Trademark exists to prevent brand confusion in marketing, and doesn't mean the name can't be used at all, it just means that you can't use it in a way that would be confused with official Disney.

God a tear from joy came out of me. Oswald has been neglected for far too long and Disney has finally done something with him! And it's so beautiful to look at.
This reminds me of a fond memory I have as a kid! Me and my little brother wrote a fan letter to Bob auger himself, thanking him for bringing Oswald back! Us in our lil kid minds even sent him ideas on how we wanted to see more of Oswald! We suggested stuff like a reboot of the House of Mouse where Oswald shows up as a part of the cast, A Disney Infinity figure, More short films and cartoons, and more appearances in the park! We even got a reply from his secretary and a Poster of Mickey’s “Get a Horse!” Short film! It’s very validating to see this after so many years! I hope there’s more! Good on ya Bob Iger. Good on ya Disney! I appreciate it! 😊

Hate to break it, this was done in digital hand drawn animation, it's on par with Netflix's Cuphead animation

Been a while since we saw that Lucky Rabbit, but I'm Happy to see Disney Animation still acknowledge Oswald with this New short.

So glad to see Oswald in the spotlight, hope more will be done with him in the near future (a Disney+ series adapting the "Epic Mickey" games and exploring his complicated relationship with Mickey wouldn't go amiss in my book).

16 years for an Oswald cartoon, after returning to Disney in 2006 and officially appearing in Epic Mickey in 2010.
But honestly, it was worth the wait.

As much as I love Mickey, I will always think of Oswald as Walt Disney’s first star. I feel like it’s taken forever, but I’m glad he’s finally getting the recognition he deserves. I’m a very happy man

That is the best animation I Have seen in years! The team that worked on this short brought the tradition of Oswald back with his character and his whimsical movement! I love it so much that it deserves recognition.

This is why I am so ecstatic for Bob Iger's return as Disney's CEO.
Plus, Disney LITERALLY RECENTLY ADMITTED that Lightyear and Strange Worlds didn't do well, so that's another promising sign that this month and 2023 are going to be Disney's redemption arcs for me.

They PERFECTLY captured this style of animation! Remember, this was at a time where the 12 principles weren't conceptualized yet as disney tried to figure out how to make animation, so there's little to no easing in or out

Nice, it feels true to the period with how things would just happen seemingly nonsensically and try to impress you with how absurd things would get, like oswald randomly turning his leg into a cannon, reminds me of when felix the cat used his tail as a match to light a fuse to shoot himself out of a cannon

Great job bringing Oswald back. Another idea to throw in would be to have him appear in the current Mickey cartoons. Not just as a short cameo, but as a character with a speaking role and interacting with mickey and his friends. I feel like that could catch on. 🐰💜

Can't believe it's been 94 years since Disney made an Oswald cartoon. Glad to see him back in the Disney fold. I hope to see Oswald and Mickey meet each other in the parks and see how they would react. I think it would be adorable to see the brothers together at long last.

Never thought I would see hand drawn again and even less so Oswald.
makes me cry. the fact disney has the rights to put him in their animations is so heart warming and im so glad that im alive to see it finally happen again. i grew up on epic mickey, and growing up i realized how absolutely important oswald was to walt and it’s just… bittersweet to see walt’s first child back in the limelight. im sure walt would be jumping up and down and crying at the return of his first creation.
