Will the feathers eventually grow in? I just got a small batch of 4 (2nd batch) and thought I was getting a speckled Sussex female but it was quite obvious from early on that she is actually a he. He just did his little baby crow this morning at 7 weeks today. He’s gorgeous and so is yours. I’m hoping to keep him as long as I can since we live within city limits, but our city is pretty lenient so far about backyard chickens. Plus, I live on a busy street where the traffic is more annoying by far! Thanks for the video ❤

Have you considered crossing this with one of your black marans?

I have a question do they get more spots when they get older 🤔

I believe they do gain more spots as they age

Speckled sussex hen have different patterns, the normal one, the VERY white one, and the darker brown main tone (This one often happens during incubation problems and its most like a runt but it could just be the pattern) The white one is a bit rare but very pretty, the Roosters have different combs and looks as well but just in in their waddle and comb, most rooster speckled sussex are a big chicken at full grown age. The hens take around 6 months to be fully grown and the roosters a year. The Speckled sussix are also the most second kindest and quiet chicken breed, mostly because of the roosters... You can see in the video the hens very loud and wiggly, the roosters more calm and quiet. Thats all I have to say about this chicken breed.
