  • Hari Om !!
    Jīvātma and Parmatama.
    Hari Om!
While revising the previous day’s talk, Swamiji again emphasized that without the proper knowledge and understanding about life, one cannot perform the right actions and reach the goal of life.
He asked all of us to have only a desire for knowledge and devotion, which will, in turn, give us the right Body-Mind-Intellect and lead us to liberation.
The vision of oneness is the solution to all our problems.
    Verses 9 and 10
While explaining these verses, Swamiji gives a very nice clue to shift the attention from the body to the consciousness while interacting with the world.
Our experiences with the world, whether good or bad, depends upon whether we interact with the world by paying attention to Consciousness or to being, things and situations.
Pay attention to the consciousness, and everything is bliss.
Pay attention to the body, and we are inviting misery!
    Verse 11
The frequent question asked by the seekers is - If paramatma himself has become Jīvātma - then when Jīvātma suffers, does paramatma suffer? If Jīvātma is suffering, how can parmatama not suffer?
He answers this question with a lot of logic and examples.
He concludes the verse with clear instructions to us to take charge of our thoughts. We are the ones who are responsible for all that is happening in our lives.
    Verses 12 and 13
The crux of this verse is your life is your choice. While explaining this statement, Swamiji asks us to observe our mind's chattering. In silence, when we sit for mediation, observe the chattering of the mind! We observe that all chattering is because we identify with the body. It is all unhealthy chattering.
    He further explains
    a) The difference between peace and happiness
    b) How do we create a happy or sorrowful world around us.
    c) How does a dhīrās experience peace all the time?
    d) Why do we experience a mixture of happiness and sorrow?
    e) How does a dhīrā handle people?
    Verse 14
The seeker has many questions about the consciousness, such as
    1) Does supreme bliss, which is inexplicable, shine by itself?
    2) To experience it, what instruments can the seeker use?
    Verse 15
    How to know him?
The light of consciousness is defined in this verse. The light, in general, is defined as that in the presence of which things are known. Consciousness is light, and the verse explains what kind of light it is.
The verse describes many lights we experience, such as the sun, moon, stars, etc.
The distinct feature of the light of consciousness is that all other lights are only experienced in its presence. This light is unique; this light cannot be known by any light; instead, because of this light, we can see all the things.
Swamiji concludes this talk by telling us the unique features of Vedantic meditation.
Do you have to close your eyes to experience God? The answer is an emphatic no- because Vedantic mediation is feasible 24/7. Paying attention to consciousness is mediation. This one thing will solve all problems. Paying attention to consciousness needs to be done by each one of us. No one else can do it. Śruti mata lovingly tells us not to be busy with petty things in life. Start working on yourself from now and here.
