      @@benandhaley You ppl should have come after monsoon season.This is the PEAK of summer and before pre monsoon shower which is the hottest time in kerala.Even we are dying bcz of the heat, and humidity makes it worse 😂.But the good thing is that you can walk and see everything at summer,which I think is what ppl comes for.During june -aug and nov -dec it can rain on any random day,which might spoil plans.But it depends on the person if they like rain.whether they like to see MORE greenery, walk in somebodys lawn or field ,experience cool breeze,drink some tea and vada in a rooadside stall when its drizzling and walk on wet road and muddy soil after a good rain.And the rain here in kerala is a lot more refreshing than the rain in many other countries and i've personally experienced this as well...

    Learnings:
    1. Biriyani and Mango curry is an unusual combination 😅. You should try Porotta and Beef Roast (as a meal) for sure & fried rice and chili chicken (as a meal)
    2. Everybody is indoor because it is so hot outside; (west loves sunny days, kerala loves cold weather) Kerala cold = west warm = 70 degree farenheit. Try not to go out during the day time, the state is on Yellow Heat Alert now.
    3. People are super helpful and can share a lot of information that is not present on Google Search;

    south india is best visited during monsoon season approximately … June through september. Cool weather. The trade off , of course , there are some days that it could rain continously for a couple if days , but its like in the US , during winter , there may be that bad one week. ( in Arizona , South of Flagstaff we dont have to worry about snow), but otherwise Monsoon is the best time to visit South India.

    India has 28 states and 8 Union Territories. Foreigners often visit Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Agra, or Rajasthan and find it busy. Sometimes, they visit Kerala and say, "I never knew India had such relaxed places; it's different from what I expected."
    You guys only explored cities, which is just a small part of the country. I can tell you about more than 15 states and Union Territories like Lakshadweep, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Ladakh, Puducherry, Jammu and Kashmir, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Uttarakhand in India. Then, you probably say the same thing, "This doesn't seem like India." But if you keep visiting just Delhi or Mumbai repeatedly, you say, "This is what India feels like." However, many of the 15 or more states don't match that perception.

Try to avoid going out between 11AM and 4PM unless you are in hill-stations like Munnar, Thekkady, Wayanad etc. Those hill-stations - with their rolling tea/coffee/cardamom plantations and winding roads - are great visual treats and the main reason why Kerala is called 'God's Own Country'.

    You should definitely visit the state of Meghalaya. Little known facts about it. Its a state covered with clouds, mountains, pine trees. Rainiest place on planet earth is in this state of India (mawsynram). Asia's cleanest village of exists here (mawlynong). Living root bridge (testament of human bio-engineering since thousands of years without any modern tools and how to live in harmony with nature) , cold climate, crystal clear lakes where you can literally see the surface and the reflection of your boat, canyons, caves, places that might remind you of Narnia, hundreds of waterfalls, completely different culture, language, food. Cuisine is more closer to south east asian cuisine. Also only matrilineal state in India. You might not find too many hindi speakers but almost everyone speaks English. Even street vendors can speak manageable english so not much issue with communication. This is just one of the states of north East. Each state of north east is unique in its own way for their natural beauty. Total 8 states also called 7 sisters and 1 brother state (sikkim is the brother)

    Man you guys are so upbeat about Kerala now. I remember most Keralites just randomly raved about Kerala to foreigners, nobody was paying attention. The tourism minister sure did his magic, noticing more and more of people like this now.
    Kerala is more like thailand where you can just wander around and find something nice. It's not like Delhi.
    But not every restaurant or food place is going to be very healthy for you aka many common snacks are deep fried, alot of sugar etc. Maybe a smaller percentage might be give you diarrhea but I haven't had a problem for ages now. Vet restaurants like how you might vet restaurants in the USA.
    Guys if you'd like please take a look at the movie Aadujeevitham (the goat life), it's a malayalam movie about surviving in the gulf desert, kind of like cast away. The director wanted to release during the summer, so that people can feel the heat.

    Kerala never exceeded 31-32 celsius at the peak of the summer when I grew up there in 80s and 90s. During my ocassional trips to Fort Kochi, it was one of the coolest (I meant weather-wise) place in mid-Kerala. Today things have changed. Have to blame the real estate build up in the whole of the country which has eliminated as many trees as possible and the carbon pollution.

    Try the Odomos cream from Kerala, which is effective at repelling insects while also moisturizing and providing a pleasant aroma.

    Best time to visit Kerala. Peek summer. 🤣. My place is just a few mins walk from your hotel though I'm not in India right now. I could see my apartment through your window.
    If you come out of your hotel and walk towards the left you will reach Bolgaty palace which is a Dutch palace converted into hotel. Its a nice place to visit especially in the evening. The synagogue in fort kochi is a nice place to visit. Around 20 kms from your hotel you have Cherai beach and many more.
    Being in kerala during hot summer, you should probably visit Munnar which is a hill station 100km from kochi and spend couple of days there. The temperature will be much lower and you get to enjoy nice greenery.
