- So I decided it'd be a good idea to buy the cheapest ps3 console I could find on ebay... it ended up being a PS3 slim. To find this console, I searched "PS3 console" and sorted by lowest cost and "Buy it Now." I then looked for the cheapest console I could find that was also classified as working (there were cheaper consoles, but they were for parts). I had an interesting experience with this one...

I grew up broke. Never understood how anyone let their electronics get like that. Anytime I traded or sold anything, it still looked almost new even years later.
As a kid I grew up in a poor household. When you haven't got alot and work hard to eventually get it you tend to look after your stuff. All my things are prestine, even now as an adult earning decent money.

Not even a matter of just being poor, just a matter of being appreciative and grateful. I don't know how some people let their consoles get extremely scratched or beat up..
I found on eBay a backwards compatible PS3 60gb edition, the seller had no clue that it was a rare model and they had the listing up for $145 and I offered them a $100 plus the shipping it, came with 14 games three controllers the PS3 looked like it was barley used and was covered in dust but in excellent condition once I cleaned it up and wiped it down good lol
Watch out for ylod.
That's good I still have my 2006 60gb ps3 launch never got ylod light, now it's in my closet looks like new.

Every console that I’ve personally sold on Amazon has been clean, in working order, and factory reset. No way I’d ever sell someone a gross console like that.

I'm actually surprised the seller was nice enough to put it in a layer of bubble wrap. Based on how that box looked on the outside, didn't expect any internal protection.

I just bought a ps3 slim, with power cord, componet cable, playstation dual shock 3 6axis controller with usb charging cable for $40 at a local thrift shop. The console looks brand new, not a scratch on it and not dirty at all. This is a secondary console, so I already had alot of games. It plays perfectly! I am pleasantly surprised with how new this console looks and plays. I love finding consoles on the cheap. I have flipped so many of all kinds, but im planning to keep this ps3 to take with me to work. It came with an official ps componet cable, which I am actually happy about because hdmi cables are like $5 bucks, this componet cable will be perfect for ps2 consoles (which i still have and play) and the componet cable is a score, and a good chunk of the $40 I paid. The console is quiet and smooth and played every disc I out in it with no issues at all.
Just clean it yourself and keep it, it is a good skill to have, if you still have it I would like to buy it and clean it properly inside out.
I'm not worried about dirt i buy stuff on ebay alot dirt can be cleaned i clean all my stuff from ebay and thrift store's with bleach and soap water
I paid for a ps3 fat original backwards compatible for £60 with games controllers and cables. Us prices are just crazy man. It was in amazing condition too

Just picked up a 160GB slim for £35, boxed, with all cables and controller from eBay. Honest to god, it's never been used, I don't think the seller realized what she had. Fantastic console, keeping it for best.
I bought a cheap 40Gb Gen 2 Phat model, it was stated in good working order, when I tested it, would not read discs, found laser at fault, replace laser for £12, contact seller, seller payed for replacement part. moral of the story is, not all eBay sellers are bad, but would of been nice if he would of been honest upfront lol 😂

This reminds me of a slim PS3 I bought from a Pawn Shop a few years back for $100. It looked good from the outside and the disc drive worked really well. Got it home and looked closer and saw how dirty it was in the vents. I opened it and it clogged with dust and stunk like smoke. The PSU, and Fan was clogged with so much dust I’m surprised it still worked. I spent a couple of hours cleaning everything out and I’m still not sure it’s 100% clean. It amazes me how poorly people can treat their things.

Update 4.87 came out a few days ago. Seems like Sony isn't giving up on that console any time soon lol
Pretty amazing they still support it till this day.
They plan to close down the online store in July though 🙁

@@rockyramsy true, but I liked it for the nostalgia. I bought well over 600 downloads of different content and games, but nothing last forever so they need to focus on the future anyway.
@@jakehunter3434 don't get me wrong, I am gutted, I have loads of ps3 games but most of which are physical copies. But at the same time I understand that it is not viable to keep a service up and running when they get like 3 downloads or purchases a month

I bought mine on eBay for about the same price and it works great. Bought my ps4 for same price at a plan shop and it works better then the ps3 does. Some of us have to buy them use like that
If you take out the power cable .Then hold down the eject button as you plug back in the power cable it will blow out the console on that PS3 model

i had the same with some of my ps3 controllers.. it happens with older ones where the battery is full .. the controller just disconnects the power to save the battery.
Like you demonstrated if you disconnect the cable it will run from the battery no issue..

I know this particular one is in gross condition but the PS3 'slim' is my favourite looking model of PS3, over the fat and super slim.

I keep some of them around for future videos but I resell a lot of them on eBay so I can make some of my money back

I work at a game store and this is clean compared to what I take in and clean.
Obviously youve never smoked if you think that dust is because of smoke, youd know if its tar, it isnt like dirt.
Same thing happened to me ironically mone alos has stab marks it's the same type of ps3 in this video as well as they left a video game inside the console. And they didn't format their stuff it it wasn't for ps3 adding their 2 step authentication system I could have signed into their account and downloaded all their digital games

I got a PS3 slim with a controller and couple games last week for £30 it was dirty and missing all rubber feet but it cleaned up well and works perfectly and it’s quiet still which is surprising because all vents were clogged with dust

I got a PS3 slim from my local thrift store. The employees there cleaned it, refurbished it, and it still works after 8 years.

I sell on ebay and would never send that system out like that. Also ship consoles in either a large flat rate or #7 box( both are basically the same size). I also provide better details and if it has games on the system I disclose that and I clear personal information of the previous owner. I'd return it. That's a shady seller.
Nowadays its quite hard to find PS3 Slim version in a working condition for a cheap price but this guy is complaining about the dirt LOL

I was laughing so hard. Personally, I find it fascinating what information get's left on these old consoles jacob gets. It is kind of cool to look at the hard drive saves, what their usernames were, what games they were playing. It brings up a ton of interesting history. Obviously I think it gets red territory if people are looking through personal stuff, but whenever I find a console like that, I always never update it and keep it like that.
Like you just look at it like toystory. The console has probably been waiting ages. Just waiting to get plugged into the wall again to be played. It gives each console character. I think as long as no personal information and address social security info, that kind of thing isn't leaked, it is kind of cool all the same.
You can't tell if it was in a smoker's house or not... You might think in your mind that you can tell but you can't.. That goes for everyone..
The dirt/dust is just dirt/dust.. Has nothing to do with smoke

I paid 10 UK pounds for a supper slim 12 gig ps3. Looks like new I had to put a 500gig hard drive into the console the hard drive cost 8 pounds from cex I got a original pad with the console. The cheapest I paid was 7 pounds for a slim last year.
If not put in it’s original console box bound to be bad, my PS3 dirty but stuck with it cause Assassins Creed 1 won’t move to future consoles

I have a P3 & if I would sell any of my Consoles I would make sure it's CLEANED & remove all personal info did that when I sold my Xbox 1 a few yrs back!
I have to reapply thermal paste my PS4 Pro and clean it out and I want to do it to my PS3 slim but I’m kind of scared to do it the PS3 looks a lot harder
