NOW THIS IS THE KIND OF TREE CLIMBING THAT MAKE A FELLA PROUD THAT HE IS IN THIS INDUSTRY, I RAN MY BOY THROUGH THE STEPS OF RIGGING A TOP OFF A TREE JUST WITH A ROPE,
It is absolutely awesome to see you passing your skills to your son! My dad and I share riding Harley’s and dirt bikes, he taught me what I know and it’s an experience that will last more than a lifetime!
Like father like son. You have the makings for a great arborist there Buckin, he's a hard worker, he don't mind getting his hands sticky with pitch, And he has the Buckin blood line flowing threw his veins. I can tell you are a proud dad and have every right to be. Great job on teaching him
Man, I may have said this before, but I love that you are teaching your boy how to climb and rig old school. I started out the same way years ago and I can tell you right now, as advanced as I've gotten, nothing trumps that very fundamental knowledge. Equipment and rigging systems fail, like you said, and it typically fails at the most inconvenient moments. Bravo, sir, bravo. I love this channel.
Great job Buckin loved the video, my son is 14 and lives with his mom but stays with me on weekends and summer. He worked with me all summer dragging brush, loading wood. He would even get me up early so we could lift weights before work. We had so much fun. The last day of summer break we both got a little misty eyed. Thank you for sharing this..!
Jackie I got similiar situation. Much more space between visits. Thirteen years old that grabs my phone and looks at Buckin' sawing or playing the drums. Message of love closes the gap for me with my visits.
I don't know anything that I love more than watching an expert arborist in action. Felling big trees is an art and a talent. It is so great that your' son is trailing along and learning from you. He is a lucky young man able to work side by side with his Dad. I'm sure he appreciates your' patience and the great way you teach him the right way to do what you both do so well and most of all "together". I can't emphasize the togetherness enough. You are fortunate to have each other. Great job Hogan and Billy, keep it up.
I can't think of a more pure and simple pleasure in life as a father than working side by side with your boy and teaching him how to do a good job. Proud moment as a dad for sure.
This truly makes me happy!!! My father has taught me everything I know in the garage, I'm forever grateful. Now I'm getting to show him some tree work in return. LOVE, PATIENCE and KINDNESS
I loved the comment that you would teach him what you know, and then he can do what he wants from there. I think that’s what we all want, is to be taught and then have the opportunity to use our agency of choice with what suits us. Thanks so much for bringing back the bonding moments of me and my dad in a similar teaching environment. Love goes out to the Bucking Soldiers of Kindness!
Great job Hogan! These are the days you will cherish in the future as you look back and reflect. When I was about your age, I worked in the woods for a gypo loggin' outfit and had the privilege to set chokers behind a cat skinner who just happened to be my Dad. He was a great teacher and would have fit in well in the Army of Kindness. Most of my time, however, was spent chasin' on the landing wrestling powersaw and swingin' an axe. I chose a different career path but those days are etched deeply into my memory. Buckin', I'm sure you are building cherished memories of yourself and Hogan as well. There can be no greater joy than to watch a child grow and mature into something special. Be kind!
Love to all the buckin family. Hogan im very happy to see you working with your dad and wanting to learn👍cant wait to see your new axe head on a handle eh hehe hope you enjoy love ya
Hey Hogan Way to go young man. You did an AWESOME job topping that tree. Keep practicing and listening to your pop and you'll be well on your way to being a great tree faller, just like your old man. Hey Buckin', I know you're beaming with pride, my friend. I could see it in your face. Watching Hogan grow over the last couple of years has been a real joy. People like yourself who have a son or daughter that wants to follow in their parents footsteps are truly blessed indeed. I followed in my dads footsteps as an electrical engineer and even though he's been gone for a couple of years now, I am reunited with him every time I see an old set of drawings with his initials or his name on them. Good evening to the True Blues and welcome to the new subscribers. Pop into the comment section and say hello. Blessings and love to all.
1st off love the Hogan view , Buckin that was great teaching an technical hands on learning . No place to learn than real environment absolutely loved it when Hogan lost his hat at that moment I can all most be his hart sank to his feet . Hope the go pro is ok . Love peace an kindness to all the new subs an all the true blues , Till next time in the tree tops HAVE A BLESSED DAY! an keep the chain oiled an sharp
Unsure where to start with this comment, as awesome aint anywhere near enough!! Natural, raw, genuine and sound teaching!!! Hogan , power and love to you fella!! Father, son quality times. So friggin happy for you both! Respect, learn and know your craft and the trees, and ye will be grand. Much best wishes . Blair
Climbing is in his blood for sure Buckin. New climbers struggle with trusting your gear and being at height. He seems really level headed, willing to listen and learn and confident in himself. Also pretty fearless or crazy like most tree guys.
Nice bill. Hard to keep ones cool and not become a drill sergeant when life and death and loved ones are concerned. You kept your cool and instructed him properly. The young man did excellent listening to instruction. Remember this one the rest of your lives. The old saying goes (practicing makes perfect) true, but( perfect practicing makes perfection) . Excellent job men.
That is awesome buddy well done to Hogan you must be so proud Buckin. The next generation of yours getting into tree work. I still work with my Dad learned from him and my Grandfather I be the 3rd generation in our family in tree work. I still remember the smile on there faces when i dropped my first. Be safe and best wishes from me and mine over in Ireland going forward from here guys . Love your channel Buckin.
First thing, couldn’t agree with Buckin more. You should be able to do the job with nothing but a rope and saw. From there your style should develop. I am glad to see you in saw pants and good belts and straps, it’s been a long time coming for me, I am liking the saw protection as my skills age! So excited for Hogan! You were flat landing them logs like a pro, good sign bro. You’ve got a good teacher yer Dad there 😉 keep the old school skills alive Buckin and Be Well All!
Great job Hogan! I love watching your dad teach you, I am learning right along with you. And once again I am impressed with your aim to hit (or miss in this case) your chosen target Buckin’. Lol 🎯
Welcome to the new subscribers ....Truly wonderful stuff mate, no doubt your chest must be thumping with pride....great work Hogan...hope everyone is having a fantastic week.... love to all , be kind , love♥️ n hugs🐨 for mamma buckin......😎👍🇦🇺👍
Great teaching video Buckin! This was by far a video that someone doing a search will be happy to watch. I want to share this video with my teenage grandson to see if he would be interested in tree felling. Thank you for taking the extra time to teach on the job and video it for others to see. Hope you and the family have a great day! Welcome new subscribers! Remember to be kind to others.
Greatest thing in my life, buckin’, was partnering with my dad and strip sawin together....working side by side and learning from him was something I and he will remember forever. Discussion on scenarios and us both learning different things was amazing, truly a memory I cherish. The woods provide all we need and these memories for you are something I know you’ll hold dear to you forever! Congrats! Keep it up Hogan!
Nice work Hogan!!! You are really fortunate to have someone to teach you these things. I had to learn on my own, and I would have loved to have someone like your dad up there showing me how to do things so that I didn’t have to just learn from my mistakes.
Buckin, I bet it’s an amazing feeling to know that yer boy Hogan wants to walk in your footsteps. And then to have the opportunity to be the one teaching him! Such love!
Excellent job Hogan!! Hey Buckin that is all your hard work teaching your boy and you should be beyond proud!! Phenomenal family values you have, great man... much love to you all, stay safe and God bless
Awesome man! Grew up working with my Dad in the floor covering business, from 8 to 18 when we weren't in school. Now that he's gone, they're some of my most treasured memories. Spring boarded me into the construction trades where I then honed in on Cabinet and furniture making. He was always self employed and parted that gift onto me.
Hogan, it is truly amazing to me to watch a young man like yourself want to learn this trade. So many your age want nothing to do with any career that involves manual labor. I applaud you for not only being willing, but also succeeding. You have one of the best in the business teaching you, learn all you can. Buckin you are a lucky lucky man. A job well done by you both. Might have to change the name on the side of the truck to Buckin Billy Ray and son tree service. Lol
Congratulations Hogan great job young man.and what a teacher you have awesome video Billy . Welcome New freinds joining us your truly welcome.Hi true blues. Regards from across the pond
Wow I'm impressed hogan good job man even how much your sawmanship has changed in even past month or so and Buckin I like the way you teach it is very clear and easy to understand what an awesome memory
I've been watching since day one and starting Jan 1st I am being trained to be an arborist!I love watching these vids because I will be in Hogan's shoes very soon ,I can feel the adrenaline just watching this video knowing that will be me!!!he's doing a great job and has an awesome teacher at that!!!
I wish the Longleaf pines of NC had tiny limbs like that. I go up the tree dropping tree trunks the whole way up. 8 to 10 inches thick. My ground crew always comment on they think I am cutting a tiny limb until it comes down and hits the ground.
Go Hogan!! Darned fine job there , young man! A little rope burn just adds some small battle scars :) Nice to see you two side by side, you are lucky to have a great mentor teaching you the tricks of the trade. All the best to you folks out there :)

But I'm very much an old dog just now learning new tricks. It's a beautiful thing to watch your son learning these things from you. These lessons will be with him his entire career and are priceless! God bless y'all
My son just came home from school about a half an hour ago I’m sitting here in the garage sharpening chains!! He is 14 years old and I wish I was more stern with the temperament of the Xbox world‼️‼️🆘🆘🆘 You are in the tree with your boy hopefully I will be able to have that also one day but thank you for sharing your experience this is something I will be watching for a long time I love you brother thank you
JOE CAPOZZIELLO I’ve took the same challenge with my girlfriends children. Getting them off the couch and Outside! I’m not a guru or anything but I know one thing. You aren’t abusing your child by teaching them how to work and enjoy the outdoors. It’s the best thing for there mental health (happiness). Who will teach them if you don’t? And I gotta be honest. In the beginning it makes you feel horrible.
JOE CAPOZZIELLO I know buddy. It’s never perfect. The kids live with their dad every other week. It’s heartbreaking at times. But worth every heartache it causes. It’s always easy to be the popular parent
Joe do the right thing pull the cord Ido this with my grandson work first then play we make work fun he is not getting younger and neither are you he can be your friend later be kind good luck
The young 'feller' is coming along nicely. It's great that you two are spending quality time together, and teaching/learning in the process. :-) Charlie
I find myself even more invested to the channel now that hogan is climbing. I remember these days, & they were great. The adrenaline was flooding all other emotions out....& there were pionts that time almost stopped!😁 But i dont see the nerves on the boy. He has gotta poker face if he is scared, & i think dad gives him an extra confidence. Love it stay safe
THIS YOUNG MAN HAS NEVER GOT EXCITED ABOUT MUCH , HE ACYUALLY SURPRISES ME THAT WAY,, THERE WILL BE OTHER THING THAT WIL STING HIM WE WILL HAVE TO WORK ON WITH A GENTLE MASSAGE IF YA NO WHAT IM SAYIN ..LOL
Hogans definitely a lucky young man... Hats off to you my friend for teaching him the right way.Your a Hell of a guy there Buckin...much love to the both of ya
Great job, Hogan! Fun to watch you and your Dad cuttin' together. All you need now is to become a bit of a ham for the cameras (Like ol' Buckin') Hehehe
My Dad was a Printing Pressman and took that in High School and I did work with My Dad for 3 years and He showed Me how to setup and Run a Large Printing Press when I was 18. The Guy doing My job on the 2nd Shift was 40 and no one showed Him anything ever. I went in the Navy and repair Radars and Radios to the component level. Good Mentor's in anything are hard to find. Safety can never get too old to to repeat it again. We had to pass pole Climbing Class at the Phone Company and climbing with spikes is intimidating and We never went up more than 25 feet. I was 45 years old when I took that class and cutting out and free sliding down a pole that has been used for training was like a bunch of branch stubs. I did another 20 years with the phone company and My climber never left the box after Pole Climbing School. I am in total respect for You Men that climb and cut those trees. The View You share with Your cameras are Fantastic Ken in Florida
I know what its like. I try to wear some good leather gloves but they aren't always practical to have on. I'm an electrician by trade and my hands show the scars of a working man's hands. I hope it heals quickly for you Hogan!
Nice job Hogan, you look comfortable up there. You are acting very mature for your age while working with your dad. It's not always easy working with family specifically fathers. It's impressive that you hold back your words/thoughts and just listen most of the time. Buckin you have done a fine job raising your children. Great video, I learned some new things and was easy to watch
He did great! Just a pointer though and I've taught this to lot's of climbers that I've trained. When your in the tree for perfect notches and back cuts always cut with the top of your bar, that way you can see your cut. Where as with the bottom of the bar you have dust flying in your eyes and its really hard to get a perfect notch and back cut. You can always see what your cutting that way.
I dont know many Fathers who get to hang out 60 ft up a tree with their son! Lucky man you are!
IT IS A CRAZY THING THAT I ONLY DREAMED OF
INDEED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is absolutely awesome to see you passing your skills to your son! My dad and I share riding Harley’s and dirt bikes, he taught me what I know and it’s an experience that will last more than a lifetime!

Looks like he's a natural Buckin. No problems trusting his equipment either. Of course he's got a great teacher and that always helps.

Great stuff Bucking and Hogan. mighty work. Greetings and fellowship from Ireland

The View You share with Your cameras are Fantastic

Well done hogan on your first topping
Love watching you work with your boy, helps me learn alot being only a few years older than him. Good stuff, keep it comin!
That was an incredible sight...Dad and Son working together high up in the tree. Can't wait to show my boys the "Ropes"!!!
That is awesome! I am terribly luck that I get to work everyday with my dad! I love it.
👍Come on friends, lets show Hogan some love here on the thumbs up! for that rope burn he took on the ✋
HA HA
I know what its like. I try to wear some good leather gloves but they aren't always practical to have on. I'm an electrician by trade and my hands show the scars of a working man's hands. I hope it heals quickly for you Hogan!
Love it. Got to learn the basics with minimal kit then work from there. Liking the ppe usage too :-)
Awesome job the both of you!! So nice to see a father teaching his son!!!! Stay safe brother and great job Hogan!!!!!!
I wouldn't want any other teacher! Well done brother, I've learned a lot from you!
Hogan is the man 😎 awesome stuff amazing content
The farmer family loves ya Buckin!
