I think God loves organ music and traditional hymns like this as much as modern gospel.
He looks on our hearts as we sing.
He doesn’t want lip service or bickering.
Any hymn that gives glory to Him is received.
Beautiful and the descent is heavenly.
Agreed ! That final chord is sooo majestic
I remember this lovely hymn from my old Anglican school in Manchester UK........The Anglicans have the best hymns..!
Ian Rowlandian I hate to disagree but Charles Wesley one of the founders of Methodism is by far the most prolific hymn writer. Even Isaac Watts, a hymn writer himself, agreed that Charles Wesley was the best. So sorry but Methodist hymns win after all "Methodism was born in song!"
mitchell wright I'm okay with Methodists having the hymns; Calvin and Knox had the theology! ( Love in Christ) :)
@@mitchellwright7780 ummmm are you unaware that Charles Wesley was an Anglican until the day he died???
@@nathaneporter94 "Charles Wesley was an English leader of the Methodist movement. Wesley was a prolific hymnwriter who wrote over 6,500 hymns during his lifetime."
@@James_Bowie it’s common knowledge that Methodism was originally a movement within Anglicanism, and that both John and Charles were committed priests of the Church of England until the day they died. Look it up!
This morning I walked Up and has this Belloved Hymn in my mind! The very first I played for the American Church in Acapulco at our Maranatha Presbiterian Church. Praise the Lord. I am the Music Director in our Church in Acapulco, Welcome any Time!!
I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Today (February 12, Epiphany 6), we sang this as our Opening Hymn. It is #853 in Evangelical Lutheran Worship.
So sad to read these comments that this magnificent organ is no longer used. Why can't contemporary and traditional co-exist in our churches? Why must it be one or the other? All it takes is some imagination and leadership.
So true. Little Diane Bish and Sam Metzger were awesome on this organ, as was the choir. And I know a lot of churches that have both a contemporary and traditional worship services. I used to attend both. But it's sad that the "folks" now in this church completely ruined it. So sad.
I am from a contemporary church and since we are in a traditional church I have started to introduce the pipe organ into special occasions and the congregation love it and cheer when a hymn or carol is finished .... great !!
Great job, though she should have held the last "highest" much, much longer. I think she probably got nervous in anticipation of the high note she was going to "master" at the end. And Sam's playing is effortless and awesome, as always. Thank you for sharing!
Imagination, leadership. Both things that were choked out of Coral Ridge.
It was a shame, but the current pastor that took over after the big scandal, returned to traditional services in 2017. Live streams of both services (contemporary and traditional) started Easter 2018.
I am old fashion, and so is the church in which I worship. There are plenty of more modern places of worship in our town; the folks who prefer traditional worship have a place to go.
OMG, I'm crying!!!!!!!!
I would attend a church like this in a ❤️ beat, if only there was one like it here in VA
Wonderful! Thank you for uploading this. We need to hold on to strong traditional hymns like this. When you face adversity in life, these are songs you will turn to.
Majestic Organ shows true Praise to The Lord of Host. 🎚️♥️
This has got to be the best ending to a sing EVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Today (September 26), I played this for Sunday School assembly.
i just love the ending of the 32 foot bombarde.
much agreed. the rumble there is awesome
He draws a 32' on the last chord, and at the beginning he uses the Antiphonal trumpet, (I believe the 8’ Trompette de Fete). And his registration varies verse to verse. If you like more dramatic registration see "O Come O Come Emmanuel."
I play organ My self
I'm an ardent follower of traditional church music.
This is a Pastor will be missed always RIP Dr Kennedy your One of gods Angelical Angels
God has granted you the morning, but he does not promise the evening. Spend each day as if it were your last
The German lyrics are anonymous, arising from folk tradition. Their first appearance was in Pörtner’s KATHOLISCHES GESANGBUCH (Würzburg, 1828) as “Beim frühen Morgenlicht” (in early morning light). The English translation was by Edward Caswall in Formby’s CATHOLIC HYMNS (London, 1854). Joseph Barnby’s optimistic tune LAUDES DOMINI (Latin for “praise the Lord”) first appeared in HYMNS ANCIENT AND MODERN (London, 1868) as Item 314. Also known as “May Jesus Christ Be Praised!” this graceful hymn has persisted over time and cultural boundaries.
Love the AMEN to close the hymn. PTL!
Dear Sister Silver this is the way most of our traditional church are going. The ORGAN music is silent, the drums, guitar, trumpet and the beat of the night club music with Christian lyrics is the order of the day. God help us!!!
Beautiful!
Watching , October 3, 2019 and asking, 'what on earth has happened' We've gone in so many churches from Let Jesus Christ be Praised to 'help Jesus be saved' ; a Cross-less Christianity or 'another Jesus and another gospel'(that is no gospel). Instead of,' for we are getting what our sins deserve, remember me when you come into Your Kingdom' it's 'save yourself and us'.This voluminous masterpiece brings Hope Joy and Fills the Soul with Eternity. Let Jesus Christ be Praised..forever.
I’m glad my church’s worship services are like this one. We love our new hymnals we just purchased.
I love the sound of the last pedal note.
I will add my voice and opinion here from Australia. When there is congregational singing, the organ needs to LEAD not follow (when accomanying a soloist, then you follow and not lead). Also, when leading such a grand and glorious hymn, you need to use a variety of stops and with such a large instrument, why not use the reeds and 32' pedal stop/s? Well performed music giving God the glory!
thank you
love that hymn
Please post some of your videos!!
Sadly this church is no longer like this....no more choirs and organs....Sad to see
Why , why, why.
@@anthonyclayfield4953 Your reply didn’t age well. This organ is still being used not to mention it’s actually undergoing a restoration process at the moment and will return to its former glory later this year
I like some traditional and some modern hymns, but as a young christian found it quite difficult to lift my heart to the Lord, as half our small congregation were tone deaf and had their own sense of timing. We sang from the old grace hymns book and I didn't always understand the old English wording so didn't know what I was singing about half the time. Nower days I do think the old classics.. generaly speaking, have more deapth to them and I love this hymn.
Richard Morton Amen!!
beautiful playing on the king of instruments -glad to see you have not been taken over
with contempory worship songs and bands -
@davdee103 Actually this church was taken over by contemporary music about a year ago. Not sure if they even have an organist now. Damn shame.
That’s not the case anymore you know. The organ is still being used despite the fact that it’s undergoing a restoration process not to mention that Pastor Rob is filling Kennedy’s shoes and that they have a digital organ while this magnificent pipe organ is being restored
Is one to understand that this choir no longer exists and this magnificent organ no longer played? And is one to understand that it is all replaced by a pop band? I find it astonishing if that is the case. Why must it be either/or? Why can't these guys find a happy medium instead of alienating one or other musical genre?
***** Thanks for the information and the trouble you have taken to reply to me, and so pleased to hear that this wonderful organ is well used. I have no objection to an eclectic use of instrumentation but become distressed when organs lie fallow!
Amen, Theo!
IT'S A BEAUTIFUL; ORGAN AND WELL PLAYED. HATE TO SEE CHURCHES GET RID OF IT
Well your comment didn’t age well. The organ is still there and is undergoing a restoration process
Samuel how young were you when you studied the organ?
This church is so different now they don’t do the open hymn anymore they have praise singers . The pipes jus sit there being played quietly . The lady that plays she act like she doesn’t know how to play it . I know the former pastor is turning in his grave . He made it his business to bring the light of Christ into this holy Sanctuary .
Shawn King - Dr. John. L & Lisa B. Wilson both are great organists... I believe Pastor Rob may be a little apprehensive to bring back the former structure of Coral Ridge’s services. Most of Samuel’s hymn arrangements are being used in worship now.
I feel like I'm being raptured!!!!!!!!!
They'll probably start ebaying individual pipes in the future to generate Revenue $.
Not happening, especially since this organ was just restored, the current pastor who took over 8 years ago brought back traditional services and therefore the organ is still being used
I saw the current Pastor of the church on national televion the Morning Joe Show in denim jeans and blue open collar shirt. Here is the Pastor of a formerly great church dress like you said "...21st century fad clothing. Not appropiate dress for a respected Pastor God help the church today. Rhino pastors gone wild!!!!
Billy Graham's grandson. No wonder!!!
Linda, then it's church politics not the Holy Spirit that brought him. Most of our traditional churches are going the same way. God have mercy!!!!
Why does the great Organist Samuel Metzger keep changing churches. He left Coral Ridge, then he left Pompeo Beach Presbyterian Church, then he left Second Presb Church in Memphis Tenn, then he left there for Covenant Presb Church in Memphis Tenn . What's going on with him? Is he that difficult to please? Can't he find his ninch?
You are right on! Check out "Worst Choir Ever"
The Maranatha music replaces the great ANTHEMS and HYMNS, the denim, and jeans replaces SUITS and TIES.... Traditional is out and Contemporary is IN. God help us...please send a revival to our churches.
Rick Warren and his church Saddleback is the worst.
I wonder why Sam Metzger left? After the death of the great Dr. Kennedy things went down hill it seems at Coral Ridge. The current Pastor is not a Kennedy, and he has ruined a great church. I'm amazed that call so young a man as the current Pastor. Do they even use the ORGAN now? God help us!
The pastor you are referring to is no longer at Coral Ridge and the current pastor there (Pastor Rob) brought Coral Ridge back to its former glory ever since he took over a long time ago not to mention that the organ has been used and is currently undergoing a restoration process.
I have yet to hear something bad about the music of this church. It's sad that a group of people ruined the foundation of this church, ruining it mostly by getting rid of the greatest organist of all time, Sam Metzger. No one comes close to him, not even Criane Bish. Awesome, awesome, awesome organist gone to waste. When you look up the word "HYPOCRIT" in wikipedia, it should have that sorry group of people at Coral's picture.
Too much reeds!
This is beautiful, inspirational music, but you don't need to wear a suit and tie or sing with an organ to bring joy to the Lord's ears. Judge not.
Exactly! Whether it's contemporary or traditional, we're still praising God. I believe this because in the same way that people think about electric guitars and drums in church today is exactly what people thought about the organ back then!
If you read about the history of the organ, it existed for 1000 years before it was commonly established in churches. The organ was first used for entertainment at theatres and festivals and only owned by the wealthy. Back then, churches didn't use instruments and they thought the organ too loud and too worldly.
Awwww, God help us! That Maranatha music type makes me wanna hurl!! They play guitars and look like a bunch of denim wearing hippies. So disrespectful!
gee, tempo way way too fast...
If you think this is too fast (I disagree by the way) you should watch their video of Onward Christian Soldiers!
Slow hymn singing is boring!
Most church organists HAVE to play fast to drag the congregation along!!
@@janetflier6192 I understand. Most churches dont sing well anymore. And popular music sucks...so people can't sing due to downgraded music being performed.
Jon Randall You are so right!!
Very typical of organ music playing much too loud drowning out the singing voices.
Acapella such as in the Eastern Christian churches is so much more beautiful.
You're supposed to lead the congregation, not accompnay them. ;)
Amen, Tuebor. May I add" "If it is too loud, you are too old!"
Certainly not too loud - for it is the KING of instruments! He is leading the church in song, not accompanying the congregation as someone else said
Acapella singing is only beautiful IF the congregation knows how to sing!!!
Beautiful!
