    Listening to Mr. Metzger playing this, even though it is over 11 years old, just reminds me of one Sabbath in church when my choir director, who was also an organist played this for the hymn of praise. When he modulated the third verse I couldn't bring myself to sing. It was too overwhelming. I felt like shouting alleluia that morning. There was so much power and holy presence during the singing of that hymn. I can't wait to begin music studies.

    As a member, the best years of my earthly life. My beloved Dr. Kennedy. Both the traditional and contemporary service had the awesome presence of our Creator and Savior. Clay Braswell was a godsend. Picture 2000 Presbyterians raising their hands in worship in the contemporary service. I remember the traditional service as a place where it got so glorious that one day a white dove appeared and fluttered all over us, then disappeared. Pentecostals have need of experiencing the real "thing."

    There is definitely a zimbelstern on there, see above for what that is, but it sounds like he has a Glockenspiel...you'd commonly find one in a Sousa-style marching band, or on theatre organs...on as well...sounds like it's being played from another division via a "melody coupler" or something, as I only hear the top note of what's being played sounding. That's my best guess...lol

    Why are the men wearing dresses? Where is that in the Bible? CONFUSION!

    • @jcolbyt82
      @jcolbyt82 Před 9 měsíci

      What are you talking about??? Men wearing choir robes and the minister wearing his robe? I have never heard anyone refer to a choir or a minister’s robe as a dress. And as far as the Bible is concerned. I have yet to find the place where the Bible instructs Christians as to how they are supposed to dress in church.
      You do realize that in Christ’s time men wore robes every day. Christ himself would have worn a long robe as his everyday dress. We don’t know that for the Bible doesn’t go into the minutiae of everyday dress. But considering that people dressed that way in those times, it’s pretty much certain that he did. So by that logic you are essentially saying that Christ himself wore a dress. Talk about confusion!
      The Bible doesn’t say that we should go to church every Sunday but we do (unless seventh day Adventists) anyway. It just says to remember the sabbath and keep it holy. I don’t hear people gripe and complain that we shouldn’t go to church on Sunday since the Bible doesn’t say we should. One thing the Bible does make quite clear is that Christ didn’t worry about the attire people would wear to a church service. There were much more important things that he had to worry about.
      What I also find really confusing is how a Christian can question whether men wearing robes are actually wearing dresses as if it were a huge deal when it is obvious they are wearing a robe. I would encourage you to go back and review Christ’s teachings to his disciples instead of sitting behind a computer criticizing the attire that congregants are wearing in a church service. How we serve and love one another was one of the main messages that Christ preached, as recorded in the Bible. Not a word was mentioned about the appropriateness of wearing a robe.
      I would ask people who make these types of comments on here to please be careful what you write. Non-Christians who might be interested in learning about Christ read things like your post and all too often they lose all interest in learning more. I have known several people that lost interest in learning about Christ because of misleading messages. That’s because they think that all Christians think that way, and they want no part of it. You turn more people away from Christ than you bring into his flock. Showing love, compassion, forgiveness, and other good traits are how we bring people to Christianity. Not by questioning the wearing of choir robes.

    The introduction from the labeled illustrious Dr. D. James Kennedy so copies his far better rival Dr. Robert Schuller. Sad that he has to imitate to seem special. This should say, "Metzger-alla-Gigout." Although the Gigout Grand Chœur Dialogué-esque" trumpet en chamade fanfares are festive and fun, it's the wrong metrical meter for the hymn. Then there is the overzealous registration that covers up the rhythm, as well as, the voices: but none of that is the point, is it? The unpronounced key change totally obscured. "Condignly." Wow, the only true grammatically well used word here.
