- Russian President Vladimir Putin warned the West of the risk of nuclear war if it sends troops to fight in Ukraine. During an annual parliamentary address, he said Moscow had weapons that could hit Western targets.

He’s literally just stating that things could escalate to the point of a nuclear war- he’s not stating that Russia would be the ones to first threaten the use of nukes but that they are prepared for things to escalate to that level between countries.

The us can not easily wage a conventional war against russia and if you talking about conventional missile strikes well guess what? Russia is not a casualty adverse culture where as western countries are. Russia and the US can absorb such damage but no side is invading the other. Such an undertaking especially so far from home means supplies and equipment must be deployed. How long did it take the US to eject iraq from kuwait?
