  • Episode 19 of Love At First Scent
This was a Facebook Live broadcast streamed on Friday 31st August 2018. Unscripted. Unedited. Unrehearsed.
Perfumes covered in this video include:
    - Man Wood Essence from Bulgari (at the start of the video)
    - Love Tuberose from Amouage (at the 24:00 minute mark)
    - Alien, Angel and Aura perfuming pens from Mugler (at the 19:00 minute mark)
    - Daria from Sammarco (at the 33:00 minute mark)
    - Bloom Nettare Di Fiori from Gucci (at the 51:00 minute mark)
and the classic choice for today was
    - Kouros from Yves Saint Laurent (at the 42:00 minute mark)
Stay tuned for the blotter update.
[Samples of all of the above provided by the brands, except for the YSL, which is from my personal collection]
    -
Here comes the blotter update 😊
    - The Bulgari remains thin and depressing. The less said about it, the better.
    - The Amouage has become sweeter and perhaps more ‘naive’, but its charm is intact. A compelling piece of work.
    - The Sammarco is still witchy and engrossing. That honey note is so, so wicked. Enough to turn Pooh onto a path of sin.
    - The Gucci is even better than at its start. A praiseworthy white floral. Much more daring than the usual stuff we’re offered by the mainstream.
Thanks very much indeed for watching!

So good to see you again, lent is over! :D
I'll just keep trying - please have Vol de Nuit by Guerlain or the original Miss Dior as your next classic :p

Daria, the spinoff show, was amazing. Clever and sarcastic.

Oh, yes! I'd forgotten she got her own show.

Mugler reviews 3 years ago that I am watching just days after Thierry Mugler’s passing. His style in life and fragrance will never be forgotten.

I wore kouros for a while myself after falling in love with it and a guy who wore it on holiday . Can’t remember him now but will never forget kouros.

Great tan on this episode after your summer break. I have been through the seasons with you today on a grey 2020 June day and it’s been lovely . Stopping after 20 for today though . Thankyou so much for the lovely distraction.

I have liked most of Sammarco's stuff so far (except Alter). Definitely gonna put Daria on my sample list.
Speaking about strong woody materials aka cliches, I feel that its a problem thats infecting niche perfumery too for quite some time. I've very recently sampled two 300 USD fragrances (Initio Parfum) and was suprised to smell alot of cloying amber-woody materials at such high prices.

gunmetal24 Thanks for the comment. And yes, absolutely, the ‘niche’ sector - whatever that means - is by no means immune. If anything, it’s getting worse than the mainstream.

Appreciated Kouros for the decade it represented and the men who wore it, no sense dragging it into 2020 for psychoanalysis. It was a grand opening into a decadent, egomaniacal, and hawkish outlook (on everything mind you), when Reaganomics was a principle (at least here in the US)!!! Let it go kids; it was and still is a thing.

    • @Persolaise
      @Persolaise  Před 3 lety +1

Now I’m wondering whether Reagan would have worn Kouros 🤔
      Thanks for watching!

I laughed a lot even though I am suffering from a backpain which gets worse when I laugh. I just couldn't resist watching it after you mentioned about it on Sunday's episode. 😆

Ashfaque S. Oh well, I guess it serves some purpose if it makes you laugh. I hope your back pain gets better, though!

Can you comment on the Diotyque Boulevard next time? Has it changed. I adore the look of that box.

Liz Seville Thanks for watching. That bottle is a new concentration. I’ll definitely try to cover it next time, or perhaps review it on my blog.

I just get a sample of Love Tuberose and I can not believe how much complements I have from that one I think I need a bottle. I spray it the first time I thought was too sweet but when dry down turn in a so femenin, delicate, lactonic but sexual in a way that I love it know. You are right is gorgeous

I actually like bloom and its flankers. Maybe they're not masterpieces, but not every perfume has to be. Bloom is quite pleasant and not too "complicated". I like for (almost) everyday, but then I love tuberose...

Thanks very much for watching. I think Bloom is amongst the better recent mainstream creations.

Oh well thank you, now I will never get "the smell of menspreading" out of my head, it sounds so disgusting, excuse me 😄 And thank god, my boyfriend prefers Hermes - Eau de Rhubarbe Écarlate in summer, no smell of menspreading in here.

do you or a member of you're family know Vivian Westwood? I ask because the other day I had chance to see this new movie documentary (a about her) and they interviewed this lady who was Sat in a room just like that one, the one you are in. In fact, I'm more than sure it's that same room.

    • @Persolaise

Compensating. Like big pickups purchased by diminutive males.
