Can never understand why with all the technology that bikes have today and the price we pay why can't they produce a comfortable seat to start with 👍

Back in the seventies, the seats were slightly better padded. I never had problems on my Suzuki GT550 or my Moto Guzzi 850 T3 California. Mark is my kind of no nonsense rider with his sheepskin🐑 I love it, baa, baa, yeah🐑

As a Yorkshireman with velcro waders I hereby testify that sheepses are baa far the bestest 🐑

I have the same lambland l black seat cover for my FJR 1300. I used it for over 65000 miles on my FJR and it's great for me. Cool in the summer and warm in the winter. It does just wipe off to dry n jobs a good un. Great product in my opinion.

I bought an inflatable camping seat the other day for £7, it's quite thin but you can get enough air in it so you dont feel disconnected from the bike, and from what i have read you dont want too much air in anyway. i have 2 x 5cm wide straps to go round the seat, i put the inflatable pad in a cheap non-slip waterproof black outdoor garden seat cover, and fix it in place to the straps with a bit of velcro so it doesnt move around (and make it easily detachable). IMHO it looks as neat as any other after market one out there !!. there's a little bit of faffing to get it perfect but it really works great, coz after all these contraptions are just basic cushions of air - nothing special, so why pay a premium price?, and now i'm older i need/want to get off the bike to stretch my legs every 90mins or so anyway. I'll maybe consider a sheepskin, but i'm not sure they would give the cushioning i'd like, but maybe will try one later. thanks for the vid & GL.

An inflatable camping seat for £7, do you have a link ???

    • @Bob-ts2tu

@@0n596 I bought it in a sale at mountain warehouse in skipton just before i posted this, however it only lasted about 500 miles before giving up the ghost when i was on my way to do the NC500, so i stopped off at the green welly and bought a better one (intended for a camping pillow for about £19 if i remember rightly, end may 2023) and it's still working great. i put it in a waterproof outdoor cover bought on ebay for less than a fiver, and strap it to the seat with 2 velcro straps. i can honestly say that i never get numb bum, even after many 200+ mile days on my cb125f for hours at a time, (and im 6' and 19st), but having passed my test i'm upgrading the bike this spring and have other ideas for a neater solution, maybe using netting to hold it in place. GL

Used Sheep skins for years think it is the Lanolin oil allows the fibres in the wool to close in winter to keep you warm and open in summer to keep you cool but would not go on any long distance ride without one plus My one always cover the rear seat so handy to place under a doss bag for insulation

I'm still waiting for a motorcycle manufacturer to come up with a comfortable seat. A standard seat with an inflatable air/gel/memory foam would be great. I understand they have to make a standard seat to try and satisfy every potential rider. If they design a touring bike for long distance riders, then they need to test the seat out using a wide variety of potential buyers. However, I realize they would encounter production issues. So we'll just have to deal with hard, stiff, and uncomfortable seats until Kingdom come or just buy aftermarket seats and cushions.

I have the same lambs wool cover and used it last Summer to tour France and Spain. It was everything you said except mine marked the black seat and I tended to slide forward if braking hard. Not sure whether I'd use it again, although it made a nice base under the sleeping bag!

Some Iron Butt riders use sheepskins. Had a Sargent seat on my RT LC and they are very Good - much better than the stock.. Also have a wild-ass seat (similar to airhawk but cheaper)
