Best Motorcycle Seat Cushion! Butt Buffer Saved my @$$!

- We thoroughly tested the Butt Buffer motorcycle seat cushion during a 9 day, 3200-mile motorcycle trip to Sturgis 2020 on multiple bikes, including touring and non-touring models. I also tested the Butt Buffer seat pad on my Kawasaki KLR 650 while adventuring and off-road riding. I don't care if you think you have the best seat on your motorcycle, because your butt will still get sore and achy if you're riding long distances and for multiple days. And many of us suffer from varying degrees of lower back pain, which can get worse during these long motorcycle road trips. Our findings were that the Butt Buffer motorcycle seat pad definitely helps with both these issues.

First time seeing your material. Found it while searching for ass pain-relief while riding my 2022 Honda Rebel 1100 DCT. Truly appreciate that you're well-spoken, knowledgeable, and personable. Love this video, sir.
Great products to help you ride longer. I find at times it is simply cheaper to pull over and walk around for 2 minutes! Getting the blood moving, goes a long way. Great video as always!!!
I bought one of these and rode from Texas to Sturgis with no problem!!!! They really work!!!! Thanks
Very helpful, I ordered some and have received mine in the mail. Now to try them out!
Great product video as usual Ryan. Might be a good idea to mention that just about any seat pad is going to raise you up a bit if that's important to you.
Gret and thorough discussion of sore butt savers
I like riding for days this will be a great game changer
I bought my Butt Buffer from a local shop and have used it for a year and a half, great product, very comfortable all the way around. It never gets too hot in the summer and warms up fast in cold weather by body heat. I still have the stock seat on my '15 SGS and I was looking at different models when I found the Butt Buffer and tried it. Glad I didn't have to spend hundreds on a new seat. I've ridden several multi-day, multi-thousand-mile trips since I bought it and I can testify, no more sore butt!
Right on. Thank you for the first hand experience.
A handy looking add on.
Thanks for the quick shipping on my butt buffer pads this week! I’ve only sat on them in the garage but excited to hit the road this weekend for a trial run. So far though, I’m impressed.
Awesome!! Thanks for shopping in our store. May you have a comfortable butt!!
Never go riding without my Butt Buffer. Living in south Florida, the pebble version is the best choice. Rode my ‘14 XL1200T sporty (stock seat) with the Butt Buffer on a 3300 mile trip. I was comfortable the entire trip.
Just got my Butt Buffer for my Sportster. It's great. Thanks.
I've tried literally just about every seat pad there is, and quite a few of the aftermarket seats also such as Corbin, Mustang, Sargent, Ultimate, Saddlemen, and Russell. The Russell was my favorite of the seats, but they're not cheap. Of all the seat cushions I've tried, I'm the happiest with the Pro Pad SuprCruzr sheepskin pad I have now on the hammock seat of my 2018 Road Glide Ultra. I have suffered tailbone pain for years riding, and this pad has a tailbone cutout which has significantly increased the time I can go between saddle breaks. I've tried other pads that had this cutout, but for whatever reason they didn't work near as well for me.
Thank you for video and it’s good to know this. 👍🏽
My pleasure!
I've been using the airhawk for 5 years now, and it's been great. I like the fact that I can adjust the pressure at any time.
I've tried every amount of air possible with the Airhawks, and could never find a sweet spot. I much prefer the Pro Pad SuprCruzr sheepskin.
I use the airhawk also. I wish I could weld a seat from my van on my bike. God as my witness, why can they make a seat for a car that you can sit on all day, but not a motorcycle. The designers need to go back to school.
I use one of these under my sheepskin cover and it definitely helps.
Great video Ryan, I'd not heard of this company. Definitely going to have to check it out once my current pad wears out which I've been happy with.
👍
Have used Airhawk for 5 years...only $100....and it's great on Eaglerider trips with hundreds of miles per day on rental bikes. I'm 60...big guy...and this $100 Airhawk is portable from bike to bike (I have a couple)..for trips...and cheaper than a new seat
I bought a saddleman gel cushion it’s awesome.
This is going to be on my bike 🏍soon!
I got one of these in Nova Scotia over 3 years ago and have used it on two bikes now. Love it. I got mine with the black trimmed sheepskin (I dont see that option on your link but it is on their website and well worth the extra few $$) and it fits my seat perfect. Although I ditched the elastic straps and used the four small loops to permanently tie it to the seat. The sheep skin lets your arse breathe on hot days but also keeps it warmer on the cold days. I just couldnt stand paying big $$ for an aftermarket seat and this really made all the difference.
Thanks for sharing!
hahahhhaa what an opening. Great video man. Well done indeed
Thanks a ton! 😂
I might have to try one, I have the AirHawk and it works good and keeps your ass from getting sweaty, but it’s not that good that I wouldn’t try something else. I’ll check the pricing out. The drink holders and phone holder I bought from you works great so I value your recommendation.
Great review, thank you very much for posting this. Do you have any input on the sheepskin version? Say, for a Road Glide? Many thanks!
I love the Hammock Seat on my Street Glide.
They just came out with the heated and cooled version!!
Most of the cushions I’ve used in the past make me feel unstable and that im sitting atop of the bike. My indian challenger is a gas tank to gas tank saddle though, so it’s good to go for me.
i love my hawk air ride gos every where....and with the wind rider seat cover Im also dry in the rain kinda..lol....
That Pebble Polymer cushion looks really good ... it's amazing how little bulk there is.
Yah, these pads are thinner than others for sure.
Thank you for the excellent video - All the information no fluff 👍 I wonder if they would give you an affiliate link so that you can get credit for people clicking through to their store. I'm only asking because I wanted a different style product than what you have listed in your store and I thought you at least deserve credit for at the referral if a customer can't buy direct from you. Ty again!
Great video and it wasn’t a bummer , not too cheeky either .
Glad you enjoyed it
bought one can wait to get it ty
Rock on. Just used it on our 9 day, 2500 mile west coast trip! Saved my ass!
I just ordered one of your Butt Buffers. I turned 70 last month and the rides are a little harder than they used to be. I'm gonna try it on my CB500f and if it works out, I will probably order one for my 1200 Iron. Being the cheap bastard that I am, I checked Amazon and they want substantially more than you are charging. Thanks for the good content in your vids.
U betcha!! Keep on riding brother!!
How has it worked for you? I was thinking of going with this or an air hawk.
I drive my Cadillac from Florida to Ohio every yr,2 days, 600 miles per day & that's hard on my rear.frequent stops ( every 2 hrs) w/ a little walk & stretch helps.can't wait till you guys hit the road again.
Right on
Really appreciate the video. I have been thinking about buying a butt buffer and being able to rely on your expert honest opinion it will be on my xmas list and will purchase from your store. Thank you again.
U rock!!
Thanks Ryan, I have trouble with tail bone pain, going to try the butt buffer next season, Wayne from Windsor Ontario
Very cool! Shout out Ontario!
Try looking up G-force by Sever Angels it’s up-graded seat product with Timpur-pedic memory foam, you can find it in Texas,
@@robertoramirez8233 Thanks for the information
Hi Ryan, love your podcast. Can you address tri glides? Especially shocks, air pressure etc. I have a 2016 tri glide and have a rough ride. Help. Bill
I just had a seat custom fitted to me by a company named Cycle Ops USA out of Florida. I shipped him my seat and told him my height weight and inseam. It was for my Victory Vision and it cost me 1100.00 dollars. I had a hard time justifying that cost for a bike that is basically obsolete but I like it. Before I could only ride 1/2 hour and in squirming and stopping within a hour. Now I can fill the bike and basically ride it gas stop to gas stop. I’m thinking about sending my Electra Glide original seat in and having that one done. It’s a lot of money but it was worth it to me. I may try the seat pad on my KLR 650.
What a night and day Difference using Butt Buffer nothing even comes close. No more aches or Pains or fatigue. Thanks to the L.A.B.
Awesome. Thx for sharing.
My Honda Shadow doesn't run, but I might get one of these for my SUV!! Those seats are firm, and I mean stiff.
My sore and achy a$$? I leave her home ! 😎
I recently completed the Saddle Sore 1000. My seat is a Corbin Solo seat on a 2009 FLHT. I can honestly say the Large Butt Buffer with Sheepskin made a world of difference. I usually move around after a couple hundred miles and I don't recall having to shift my weight around the seat at all on the ride.
Great feedback based on rear world experience. Thanks
Man Ryan that sounds great-I have a bmw rt that has a Corbin that feels like a piece of firewood ! Thanks
Right on!
Cant stop laughing.
That's so true I also have a Corbin and just came off of a trip I had to pull over multiple times to give my butt a break
So, fitment question: my seat is 16"L x 17"W. The large is 14"x18". It would fit, but the overlap concerns me with snagging when I do off-bike transitions on the twisties. If I am an aggressive rider, you think the Medium 12"x 16" a okay compromise? I do have lower back issues and not too much in the butt department. Thanks in advance for the input! 👊
I looked at this one but decided to get the AirHawk instead. With the Air Hawks, I can inflate to whatever firmness I want and it has air channels between the air pillows which is great to flow air through the seat on hot days.
I just posted my own question, but I thought I'd ask you directly. Do you feel like you slide forward a little bit on the airhawk when you use it? I get hot spots on my cheeks whenever I use the air hawk... i'd like to use an abbreviation for "Air Hawk" but the only one I can come up with is "AH"....lol
I like DiY. I am thinking two 2 by 4s would be great. 🤣🤣 Just kidding. I am thinking about making a cushion pad which can be tied around the stock seat. Not sure how much it will move around or affect my riding. Will be a good winter project
Yeah man, I've had butt problems with motorcycles, esp with stock seats! But, my one up Mustang seat pains me! Sometimes. I've learned to remove thick wallet from usual rear pants pocket along with bundles of keys etc that can punch, rub, etc! I had wool sheep's skin that worked really well for me until someone decided to see how it worked for them instead!
I’d ride all day .. if it wasn’t for that damn HD seat ..
Wow ! Splendid product! Brand new adv bike bmw gs f850 the seat is about 12" wide... I'm 6'2" 220lbs would you suggest medium size or large???
My ass thanks you... Just ordered one for my Spyder RTL
Ryan are the dimension on these pads larger number across the seat or along the length of the seat?
Ryan, does the Butt Buffer raise you up on the seat a lot? Thank you. Big fan
I bought one for my ST1300 and CTX1300 front and passenger. My Road King had a Butt Buddy for the wife, but that company disappeared. The Butt Buffer works wonders. I'd get one for my Goldwing, but no pain on it yet.
They also gave me a discount for LE/MIL!
My Air Hawk Seat is very comfortable It seems to stay in place I hook both ends together.. Biggest problem is it soaks up water like crazy .. If it's raining you have to keep a garbage bag over it or you ass will get soaked .. when you sit on it again .. I keep my bike garaged but not when I go some where ..
Butt buffer is the best, couldn't believe how much better then the air bladder ones.
Great info
thank you. I don't ride a harley, but I do ride a cruiser. The seat is great, but the vibrations kill me. This might be my answer. Now, do you ship to Australia. Only one way to find out I guess. Visit the store.
Danny Grey uses an Airhawk built in. I only have an Airhawk which works pretty well. What is the return policy if this isn't better than an Airhawk?
I’m not a biker, ima 60 year old biker to be. I’d be riding right now but had some health issues and have to get past some bills first. I just hope I can get there before it’s too late!
How does this compare to the airhawk seat cushion? Just asking.
After ten years of not riding I found a deal while visiting in late summer in Wisconsin for an Electra Glide Classic. My wife and I needed to ride it home to Southwestern Texas. First day ok but the second day I was aching after 75 miles. We did an emergency Wal-Mart run and found gel seat cushions for $25. Helped a little but still pretty miserable the next three days. Should I buy an $800 Corban seat? That is $800 down the drain if it is no help. $87.50 is a much better price.
I still think it’s insane companies charge the prices they do, and my kitchen table chair at 50 bucks is more comfortable. My indian challenger stock seat is top notch though. Nice video,
-salty, president, ems angels mc-
Does anyone know what seat is.on that Amber Whiskey harley? I need one. Thanks!
My seat sucks!!! will try this for sure... 03 Wing
👍
AirHawk! Only way to go!
Ryan I have used the seat pads in the past and yes they do help but I recently purchased a Road glide Limited, Thanks to Costco Gas filler not shutting off Bike got a Gas bath and seat got it good, Looking at replacing with Saddlemen Road Sofa your thoughts and options Please.
Loren
The Saddlemen Road Sofa is a great seat. You'll like it.

I bought an air hawk for my 08 Goldwing as I have tail bone pain, but I feel like I sit on it and then slide forward like an inch and then I get hotspots on my cheeks. Has anyone had that experience with the airhawk, and if so, do you have the same feeling with this product?
Only liquid gel seat cushions would leak, and since I've not seen one, I don't think they're very common.
Great review, however, my Airhawk has been great and is adjustable. None of my fellow riders has ever had an issue with them ie: leaks. It appears that if you use the medal hooks on the butt buffer, the hooks will be in direct contact with the top of your fender under the seat possibly scratching it.
Not on my Street Glide, but it may depend on which bike you have.
I bought one of them the year after I got my 2010 street glide we used to be taking three to four hour rides going and coming and man my butt used to be sore once I got that it was like sitting on a cloud.
Thanks for sharing!
Gentlemen! I need advice, sorry to say but my groin falls asleep after like twenty minutes and drives me crazy, then my ass always gets soar. Any tips or advice? I have the harley tall boy seat for my fatboy
Used the Airhawk for years and traveled all over every part of Califas. Switched to the butt buffer and very happy. Best part is, sold my Airhawk to offset the buffer.
Only gripe is, don't let your butt buffer sit in the sun. It radiates the heat once you are back on the bike. Enjoy
Which country you are
Finally comfort to my butt. How do I order I order one?
have you tried them on your Police seat? If so how did it work ie: did it stay in place while doing maneuvers,or is it more just for touring.
Thanks great videos, Stay Safe
Just more for touring or certainly for short rides if you have lower back issues. Off and on my police bike all day, so I'm good there.
Why is this any better than an Air Hawk? 🇦🇺
I have been using the Airhawk seat for years with great success!
We had a couple guy running them until they popped. That's the problem with using air.
@@RyanUrlacher hmm, I have never had that happen. One thing I was told early on was that if they were over inflated the didn't work as well. I did my saddle sore ride with mine. I'll be honest. after 700 miles I'm not sure anything would have been comfortable!
My airhawk is over 10 years old, yes use minmal air. Love it
I have seen a lot of folks use the Air Hawk wrong by over inflating it. It should just have enough air to just keep your rear off the seat. Almost flat. Used correctly it's been a wonderful pad. Never had an issue.
@@jeffmorris739 yep, they have worked for quadriplegics in wheelchairs for decades...originally designed and used to stop wheelchair bound people from getting pressure soars.
Stop laughing, I mean it. I wear cycling pants with pads under my jeans. Go ahead laugh, butt it works.
Chief, did you know, the padded inserts in cycle shorts are available as a separate item, I think am correct in saying that both men and women shape are different (diff pelvic shape) the idea is when the current pads need replacing you obtain a new pad you just need get it sewn in.
Me too
Ha! Do y'all have Diminished Gluteal Syndrome? You reminded me of "King of The Hill", when you mentioned the pads.
How thick is it?
My Yamaha FJR 1300 bought used had a Sargent seat ..was a piece of Granite ! Bought a custom seat but still need a Purple Pad to help out ...might have bought this last summer as I have now heard good things ..really like your channel
Thanks!
I have a klx300sm and my butt hurts after 20min the seat is to stiff
Why not change out the sucky OEM foam and replace it with the correct amount of memory foam for your weight? AND you also cut out a little hole under your tail bone for decreased lower back pain and leg fatigue. Seriously low cost solution from your local upholstery shop.
I wonder if I have an advantage on you since I ride horses too? I ride an old hard slick seat saddle on my horses so I never noticed on my scooter. Hell I may just have the dead ass, huh, lol.
BTW I am 63
In more than 50 year in the saddle ( 16 0n a rigid) the ONLY seat cushion worth a damn is the Airhawk. All gel types feel like a rock in a few hours. Just my experience.
This is not a gel pad. It's a medical grade material designed and used in hospitals.
In your opinion is any one Butt Buffer style superior to another? For example how does the Super Suede Series compare to the Pebble Polymer Style? Thanx...
Pebble Polymer better in hot temps. Breaths better. shop.lawabidingbiker.com/collections/butt-buffer-seat-cushions
I put a saddlemen step up seat on my 2018 heritage and it measures 11x13 on the seating area . Should I get a small or a medium butt buster opps i mean buffer?
Please head to our store website and match those measurements with what we have listed and you'll make sure to get the right size. You could get away with the small or medium depending on if you want it to drape over the side a bit. ==> shop.lawabidingbiker.com/collections/butt-buffer-seat-cushions
At 63 my Ass needs all the extra cushion it can get !
good video...i'd rather spend $1000 and replace the shocks and be done with it...tried the air hawk...felt like my butt was constantly moving about...a squirrelly feeling.
We do shocks too. That won't solve pressure points though.
With the Air Hawk if your arse is still moving around it means you need to deflate it a bit more mate.
@@RyanUrlacher R - I know, but it sure makes the bike ride so much better...went with Wernimonts...amazing...love all that you do for us bikers.
Any suggestions for Swamp Ass in the Summer ? Those seats make you sweat like a monster....
Get Corbin’s touring seat and the back rest and end all problems
We have some with the Corbin. Add the Butt Buffer pad when riding 9 plus days in a row and 3500 miles and then you're set. We've ran nearly every seat known and you'll still get sore and achy at some point. Also depends on your condition. Many suffer from lower back issues. Ride safe.
Amen
I've got a gel cushion. Took the cover off my seat. Put gel cushion on, put cover back on over it. Problem solved
How does it work in conjunction with the heated seat ?
Takes longer to heat up pad of course. It does though.
I have a broken tale bone.
I need one of those for my old ass!!..lol
😂
Can you feel the heat from the heated seat through the pad?
It all warms up, but takes longer.
i tried every type of air cushion gel pad ect i would have pain after an hour it was horrific the only cure i found is to start doing squats and build up the glutes as you get older you loose fat on the ass and doing squats every second day builds up the glutes around the sitting bones i had no choice as id have to give up biking otherwise
Will this work for sacral pain/discomfort?
I would think so, but one would have to try.
👍
How does it compare to Air Hawk seat cushion?
Better,any it's very skinny
Way better than the Airhawk and we've had guys here try them. Butt Buffer doesn't use air or gel, which will pop or leak if punctured. Butt Buffer is a medical grade material.
@@RyanUrlacher----Is the medical grade material similar to memory foam material?
When will the large be available in the pebble ?
