I am so proud of my brother Myron! His commitment to the show helped Soul Train become a household name - Myron is a Dance Icon.
Indeed ! 💃🏽👏🏾👏🏾
Absolutely!
Equally proud of my cousin Myron!
😎👍🕺🕺🕺🕺
🥰
Soul Train dancers age backwards. They are finding all of these dancers. I love it. Everyone is still doing good and looking good and that’s great.
youtube.com/@myronmontgomery9767
I can honestly say this without hesitation. Everyone that I have seen so far looks good even if better when they were younger. Dancing really is what keeps us all young & healthy. I am so glad to have grown up in the era when watching Soul Train on Saturdays was a weekly standard. Man, I wouldn’t trade my childhood for anything . He was one of my favorites by the way.
I agree 1000% do more of the things you luv, stay young and vibrant.. I live on the Mantra daily.. 🎯
💯
I always think the same thing when I see them
OH MY God!!! he is still alive!!! not to be a Donald downer but i swear he might have died. Holy Hell!!! What a relief to see this segment...
THE BEST SATURDAY'S SPENT INFRONT OF T.V.✋🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿🤣😂
No way. He can’t be 60. He doesn’t even look like he’s aged past 45.
Right?
If you watch soul train in the '70s you had to be in your teens so this guy got to be well over 50 years old come on now
@@robertwinston8974 You’re right. But he still looks good.
Melanin is poppin baby.
that’s that good physical fitness
One of the most memorable Soul Train dancers. So happy he was interviewed. 😃
Myron is a superstar to fans of Soul Train. He always stood out and I loved seeing him freestyling going down the Soul Train line.
I have been Myron’s Insurance agent for over a decade and I had only heard of his amazing stories while on soul train and his own musical venture.I am so proud of him and i’m glad he’s getting some recognition!
I love that Don requested he leave ABS! I love that he honored Don's request! AND I loooove that Don kept his word. That's how we stick together.
Instead of these individual clips on CZcams there should be a two hour made for TV special on all the Soul Train stars
I’ve been waiting FOR YEARS for Myron to share his story. I’m surprised he mentioned bandstand, but not surprised as he was definitely one of the most popular on there at one point. Salute to you, Myron!
@Ezell Broome your trolling skills
I have a book coming out soon , stay tuned 😉
@@myronmontgomery looking forward to it! Thank you!
Myron, I stole your shake dance and put my own spin on it! I used to wear them out on the dancefloor! Thank you for the years of entertainment. My week wasn't the same without Soul Train.
Me and my buddies were in the AF and used to call him/his dance 'Shimmy Man/The Shimmy Man dance'. We would get a few drinks in us and do some clowning around doing this thing called. "its a bird, its a plane, it's SHIMMY MAN!" instead of superman and start doing our version of his dance. Lol It was hilarious because each of us would add our own spin on it. I actually met him back in the day at a Mall in LA when I was a teenager (We're around the same age) He was pretty cool dude.
I called it/him " Let it whip"!
LOL! My crazy siblings and I had nicknames for all the dancers. We called Louie Ski Carr “Mr Walk”. Because, mostly, all he did walk back and forth then throw his hands up. Sometimes you might get a flip. Good times. Funny now knowing we were not the only ones.
Now, this is funny as hell
Wow. Its like
he sleeps in a
jar of preserves
every night...
He hasn't aged
a bit. Slap a
Jhery Curl on
him and he's
instantly back
in the 80s.
Well done, Myron.
well done sir.
Myron is and will always be my absolutely favorite Soul train dancer. He was the reason I was so good at doing the shake
Watched him and tried emulating his wonderful moves

Brother is probably one of the best dancers on Soul Train.
@Basquart1 ; Don't get me wrong I loved Myron , but to me the most underrated dancers were the BEAUTIFUL dark skin lady that married the LAKESIDE lead singer and her partner. View them best when TEDDY PENDERGRASS performance on soil train ( the more I get the more I want ) !!!
He was especially in the 80s he's the icon of soul train 🎉
I remember him so well, I am 67 now and was in high school back then. He was an excellent dancer. He just stood out. May God bless and keep him safe. Thank you for all the wonderful memories.
That was impossible unless you were a teacher. I'm not trolling.
@@georgeabernathy6646 😩🤣🤣
@@OnlyOneNetra_50 dude is like 60 and she didn’t say she was in high school with him, just remember him when they were in high school
@@therealone2405 thanks for explaining this to me.. but i just laughed..🤔
@@OnlyOneNetra_50 I’m sorry, wrong person
that is Not the Harlem Shake... that's another kinda shake altogether lol but nice piece of history told
Bout time they interviewed Myron...he was one of the main dancers to watch!!! And he's looking good!!!
I can't believe they found Myron wow I can't wait to see this vlog
He is a hard worker
Back then the dance that Myron "created" was known as the shake. It became the Harlem Shake in 2001. He is a great dancer . Thank you Myron Montgomery for your contribution of dance over the decades.
@Portia Matthews ; I'm sorry his dance is not the Harlem shake, the Harlem shake is mostly just moving the top part of your body brushing off your shoulder Marlins dance he's all over the place with that what he called Harlem shake there's no way near, sorry!!
You answered a question that I had been wondering about. that makes perfect sense because the people in New York have taken it and run away with it lol They have claimed ownership of the dance now.
@@herb1798 ; His is not the harlem shake!!
@@herb1798 exactly 💯 percent facts that is not the Harlem shake!!...far from it.
@@herb1798 dances, like most things, evolve and change over time. It definitely appears to be a connection/evolution between both dances.
I love it I love it I love it! My cousin Myron! Oh my this was so exciting, I remember the days we whould sit around the Big Floor TV and everybody could not wait to see him on Soul Train. True we wanted to see the celebrities of course but my cousins was the real star to us! It's so exciting to see that he looks excellent, and took very good care of himself. He looks awesome, congratulations cousin, to a healthy life and many more years to life your best life ever !
These are our grandparents and parents. What a time it was to be young.. look now. The youth cant go anywhere without violence erupting. Take me back to the 70s, 80s and 90s
I know y'all or maybe not agree we need to bring the Soul train tv show back and show these girls in today's generation how really to dance
Nah all they're gonna do is twerk. lol!
What music are they going to perform?
I actually think this will be fun as long as they have to addition like the original dancers.
Kids today actually do a lot more than twerking in this era . Their vibe and groove is different from the era of the 70's ,80's ,'90's or the early 00's ,but there's quite a few of them that understand it and built their own swag to it . It would be interesting to see what a Soul Train show would look like in this era . The music in this era to me is hit or miss and the dances could reflect that .As long as the music is hot ,the dances will b,e too.
Sounds like you’re trying to compete with the younger women by not including men, as well as by calling them girls. No wonder they can’t stand older women 🙄
Easting Cereal on Saturdays and SOULLLLLL TRAIINNNNNN ...was the best combo 😃!
I have been waiting for him. He along with Cheryl, Sharon,Jermaine Tyrone and Sheri danced on Bandstand as well. Time has done him good.
Yes they did!
Yup sure did,I can remember when Sharon &Tyrone won the dance contest on American Bandstand.
@@galehawkins-colon6704 Let's not forget Damita Jo and Lil Joe as well.
Myron is the man. He utilized his time on Soul Train to propel himself into acting and other vehicles. Very smart!!! Did not know he created the Harlem Shake. Love it!!!
Yes! 🥰My siblings and friends tried to “shake” like that every Saturday when Myron started shaking on Soul Train!! “The Shake” was a popular dance at my high school dances, roller rinks, and social gatherings!
Especially when the Bar-Kay’s sang,
🗣“Do It (Let Me See You Shake)!
And we loved the outfits!
YESSS!!!

The Harlem Shake was created at Rucker Park Basketball Games during the summer months, Harlem NY.
He got the 💡 from him he came before
I definitely remember him with Cheryl! This was great, keep’em coming!
Yes, he has a beautiful personality!!
Google Says otherwise. Yes u probably created the SHAKE BUT NOT THE HARLEM SHAKE.......
God I miss my childhood watching Soul Train especially in the 80s when I was a teenager. I learned to dance by watching Soul Train...please take me back 😢
Hi Myron 😌. I am from The Soul Train era and I miss it sooooo much 😒. I was never a savvy (I went into singing since high school and beyond afterwards in public) dancer but I ❤'d watching The Soul Train. I still have many albums oh, yes actual albums, from that era and have no plans on getting rid of him. I just cannot get with what is called music of today. It just sounds like a bunch of unidentified noises to me. I will always be an ol' school music lover till God calls me home and perhaps afterwards ☺. Thank you Myron for the wonderful reminder of when music was music. God bless you and your family.
🎶😙🙏❤
Darlene from the Windy City
One of my favorites -- thanks for telling us it's the "Harlem Shake" -- I never knew the real name. I'm so happy to see so many of you still around!!
I went from elementary school to graduate school watching this guy on Soul Train.
He was definitely one of the ones I remember.
Don did them dirty...He never paid them. He just rewarded them with camera time 😒
This show was a big deal. No one could sit down during Soul Train. We were all up dancing together and dancing with the dancers on TV. Myron stood out in a sea of greats. He taught me personally how cool in public moved, dressed, and conducted himself. These ladies and gentlemen on ST were so iconic and such great role models for all the kids watching. It was always about being part of the larger group, live and let live, having fun but respecting everyone else, learning each others' moves but putting your own special spin on them, being the best version of yourself. Dancing was and is fun, healthy, a great way to stay in shape and express whatever you are feeling, good, bad, or ugly, in a creative and socially positive way. Thank you Myron and all the dancers of ST for all the great times and free life lessons.
Genius idea to have these iconic dancers tell their own stories. I thoroughly enjoyed watching Myron perform. So much energy, so much joy!!!
I lived in LA at the time, and I remember him on a local dance show, before he went to AB and Soul Train. He stood out, because he was probably the best dancer on that show. For the life of me, I can't remember the name of that show, but he was very young.
when you find out, let us know? (and thank you for posting all those ST clips over the years)
@@nickfreshalive Thank you. I think Myron would have to answer that question. I just don't remember the name of the show anymore.
Myron ❤️ The Goat
Myron, Brother, you've Brightened a Many Saturday's for me.
Talent on a 💯.
He was my absolute favorite Soul Train dancer!
Here he is.
Myron.
He’s still so beautiful. He put his heart and soul into his dancing; you could just feel his energy just like with Michael Jackson. Probably only a handful of people could do his signature dance, the Harlem shake (doing it justice) 😀
He would be a good choice to host a new, this century, ST? But can we do a ST reboot with today’s lack luster music? Probably not!
Except he wasn't doing the Harlem Shake, nor did he create it .Do your research .
One of my favorite dancers!! Looking good Myron!! You are looking even better with age. I love these Soul Train Dancers stories. It was about time you all got your props, you all made history!!
I love hearing the dancers talk about being on the show. You feel like you're there in their experiences. He was a star dancer.
I wasn't here to watch him when he was on there but he had the talent and looks. Some people just have it 🤷🏽♀️ It's interesting the dancers didn't get paid
WE LOVEEEEE WHEN YOU PROFILE THE DANCERS!! 👏🏽👏🏽
He’s not the originator of the Harlem shake! AL B a Harlem resident is the originator. Not to take way of this man’s accomplishments, but let’s give the proper credit.
That's what I've been saying out here !! Thank you for also putting the truth out there . Al B. deserves his flowers even if he's no longer here !!! Shout out to the Original Harlem Shakers ( Motion ,No Bones , Dirty Kirk , and Smiley ( R.I.P.) and them LiteFeet peeps that rep that ,too !!!
He looks GREAT!!!
I use to love to watch his dancing on soul train when I was in my teens....GOD BLESS!!!
Loooove you!! I’m from Augusta, Ga. James Brown… the legend. I’m 70 yrs. old and finally met him at Bush Field Airport a few years before he passed away. The most wonderful moment of my life. The highlight of my light. Entertainers work their butts off to keep our lives full of joy. THANK YOU FOR the joy you have imbedded in our lives….through and through. I love you!! Peace, love, and light.
Wow 1976 till 1995🧐 I've often wondered what ever happened to the dancer man that moved his hands and Body so swiftly. Years ago I used to say why is he dancing on America Bandstand. Because the majority of the dancers on Bandstand couldn't dance. Soul Train was the best dancing show for him.
This was my crush on Soul Train and he was a great dancer.
OMG Myron I have been drastically searching for you . I’ve inquired about you on almost every Soul Train video. After I saw you do the “Harlem Shake”I was hooked, having no idea you were the creator of that dance therefore dubbing you “Mr. Shake”. My husband saw you in garment district downtown L.A. He came and said guess who I saw, Mr. Shake. He said he told you I called you that. When I first saw you do the Harlem Shake I was looking for you every show. Then you were the highlight and I watched the show anxiously to see you. A few years back I viewed one episode and you danced to “Let it Whip” I couldn’t stop watching you and now when I’m feeling a lil down I’ll play it. When I hear let it whip on the radio I think of you and. Smile. You were fantastic on Soul train. I’m so glad I ran across this interview. Tony Briggs interview popped up and he mentioned your name “Myron”. I was like that’s him I’ll search his First name and Soul Train and voilà! Thank you so much for this interview I had no idea you were so young when you started so true and by the way you look amazing also thank you for making that experience one that will never be forgotten!
What a great episode 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 congrats Myron 🎉🎉🎉 you are so amazingly talented!!! These moves, your storytelling, fantastic 🙌🏽💕
SIGNATURE moves!
He was certainly one of the standout dancers. Didn't realize he started so young at 15 years old.
I really enjoyed listening & watching his journey to and off Soul Train including the accompanying witty animation, could easily watch an added two hours more of his experience on the show. BTW the magnitude of beautiful people showcased on the show within the clips from Tyrone Proctor, The Whispers, Marvin Gaye killing in the pink suit and of course Myron, just wow
I love seeing the dancers recalling their stories of the early Soul Train days. This is beautiful!!!
So the entire time they weren’t paid except for a bucket of yard bird
Don Cornelius wow
The chicken has more story than the dance moves 😂😆😂🤣🤣😆😂😆😂🤣🤣😆😂😆
I love these interviews he really gave us a look behind the scenes and showed us how hard they had to work back then love you Myron💜💜💜💜Soul Train Legend😘😘
It’s amazing to see all of the dancer’s share their stories; much love and respect. ❤️❤️❤️
Remember him and Cheryl were always coordinated. 😁 His moves definitely stood out.
WOW.Good retro.Didn't know the names of dancers til now, thanks to thes COOL retrospectives.MYRON was a DANCING MACHINE!!! LOL.Saturdays at 11;00 am-it was on!!! These retros make my day, keep'em coming.LOL.
I definitely remember his unique dancing watching Soul Train the 80s. Glad to see he is well
I remember Myron being on both shows like it was just yesterday! I always wondered how that came about.
Omg, he looks so young still.
Congratulations Myron what an adorable adventure May God continue to bless you in all your endeavors
At least he was honest, "...we looked at them as peasants..." 😊 I had a cousin who made it on but she left after about 2 shows. She told us she couldn't tolerate the pettiness and jealousy. Now, my cousin was beautiful inside and out so hearing him admit the attitude of the dancers (maybe not all) just verified her truthfulness. We believed her anyways though.
It's so much fun watching these videos of the dancers. He was one of my faves. My sister and I use to call him "Tyrone" because he looked like our soon-to-be then uncle. Thank you for sharing these videos with us. ❤️
Every single dancer on Soul Train is a legend. Period. I was a dancer and I was mesmerized at all the dancers, and it was so awesome to see people that looked like me on tv getting down!! This show is a gem.
Exactly 💯 I miss soul train
Brother was Great too watch and he looks Great and also glad hes doing well God bless him!!
Yay! I wondered where he was over the years! He looks better now, than then
Myron was on of the best dancers on Soul Train, thank you for the memories Myron.
I remember him… yesss!! I love that Soul Train gave a LOT of these dancers opportunities to be stylists; singers; back up singers; designers; choreographers; be in music videos, movies & commercials… etc! I always want to go on Soul Train 😌😊✊🏾
WOW... This is going to be great!! Can't wait for it
I stole a'many-a-dancemoves from you Myron Montgomery!! Definitely MY Favorite Soul Train dancer of all ~ and that's sayin' something! Great video!
OMG!!!!! He's my favorite Soul Train dancer!!!!!!!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Oh how I miss Soul Train. 💔😢
That Harlem Shake gave me life every Saturday!
I definitely remember him dancing in the 80’s
Omg he is AMAZING, God he has such a soothing peaceful voice and an Aura that covers everyone around him. He is heaven sent such a great guy
This cat didn't create no Harlem shake. He created the west coast wiggle.
Wow didn't know Jermaine Stewart was a soul train dancer. I definitely remember Mr. Montgomery!
Myron and nem, ICONS all day! Chile we use to try that dance, but most of us, could only get one side right, lol. Our rhythm was off. We were like how does he do that, and alternate, his arms, and still move his hips? Myron, was definitely, one of many favorite dancers. Great memories.
He has a very exciting history. Although he wasn't paid by Soul train it opened a lot of great doors for him. I loved this.
It's about time!!!! I was wondering when you guys would get to my favorite dancer of all time.. I soooo remember M. Montgomery because of his many signature dances and because he split his time between Soul Train and American Band Stand. ABS held a dance contest every year and M. Montgomery was in it almost every time. Who knew Don made him quit ABS.. Clearly Don Cornelius was a real piece of work back then. Some things I would have rather not known. Me and my sister would always try to dance like him. He was truly my favorite. MEMORIES.
Great piece, it's good to see a series like this because we would not know these magnificent dancers' names or story. Myron is amazing but IDK about that the Harlem Shake bit. Looks like two different dances to me. His creativity was so good during that time so much love to you. Icons
They need to bring "Soul Train" back. I'd audition.
While watching this, I thought about Don and it's so sad the way he left this world. I loved watching this on the wknd back in the day.
Wow! His moves were fire! I can see why Don and the producers kept him on top.
I remember the track that Myron and Sheri danced to on the American Bandstand national dance contest - "Come on Dance Dance by Saturday Night Band".
Myron Montgomery!! Yes 👍 👍!! I Remember Watching Him On Soul Train 🚆.. aka .. ( The Train 🚆 ) Dancing With His Number One (1) Female Dancer.. Two Of The Greatest Or Among The Greatest!! That I Could Remember.
LOL whenever I hear Michael Jackson's song "Day and Night" I remember this guy doing that dance.
That's cool that this Soul Train dancer seen his favorite dance performer. And to hear the legendary vocalists live, this dancer has additional memories. Also created some legendary dance moves still seen today in our Black American culture. :) I miss Soul Train! Date Stamp: 12dec21
Damn! This brotha gotta be in his 60s by now. The dancing kept him still looking young.
He was my favorite Soul Train dancer. He inspired me to continue dancing in the early 80's
Mryon may have invented the shake... but he could not have invented the Harlem shake if he was from LA y'all. According to Google: The Harlem shake, originally called the albee or Al B, is a dance introduced in 1981 by a Harlem resident named Albert Boyce aka "Al B".
The dance is a "drunken shake" and Al B performed the dance with hi arm-flailing during the half-time break in basketball matches at Harlem's Rucker Park, circa 1981. The 'Al B' then grew a following around Harlem, before spreading to neighboring districts and later became known as "The Harlem Shake." It became main stream after G Dep featured the dance in his music video "Let's Get It' in 2001, then in G Dep's video "Special Delivery". It also appeared in Nelly's video for the song "Dilemma".
Been waiting for this interview, he is in my opinion, one of the best male dancers, certainly my favorite male dancer
Exciting story of Myron Montgomery of Soul Train behind the scenes. I grew up with Soul Train and AB.
Every time Myron would do that Harlem shake, my bones would hurt! Lol! I literally grew up with you Soul Train Dancers from back in the '70s. Wow! Myron is one of the most memorable ones. Great job sir!
Myron NEVER did the Harlem Shake on Soul Train, not did he create it!!! He DID do HIS own dance .It just wasn't the Harlem Shake!!!
