@@lovetofly32 it COULD come undone - I kitesurf for 13 years now and just "hanging" from the lines is a very even load on the lines!
The real stresses on the lines appesr when performing HIGE jumps or looping the kite in high-winds!
But just sort of parasailing with it puts little stress on it.
Not much more then the weight of the rider!
Lines are usually rated for 200kg / 440pounds of force!
So a highly-powered jump and looping can pit them under lots of stress!

I always thought that the kite would drag you downwind instead of upwind. Some magic is happening here
A kite at apogee ( 12 o clock above ) with a non agressive bridal angle can absolutely drift up wind, due to riders weight and angle of attack. He starts to drift with wind when he moves from apogee

Paragliders and hanggliders ride that kind of lift all the time. It's the same buttery wind as on the water, it's just hitting the cliff and going up.

Left or right cord pulls on the wings shape turn tack or run like a sail boat only this sail is horizontal.

How is it possible that he looks like he is flying upwind of his launch before he ever can produce upwind force on the water? What am I missing?
Maybe you forget he is loosing height. At that time you must watch his wing and it's pilot .. like a wing, a glider. Seagulls can fly upwind without flapping wings. Plus there is a lifting current in front of the cliff.

lol I brought one of these kites, it didn’t go as well as this guy. Got dragged 1/4 of a mile across a field before a fence stopped me. Needless to say I never got it back out to play with again 😂😂
